Reunited

It was Monday and Bella had three days off from work.

She could do with the much-needed rest so she stayed in bed drowning in her sorrow.

Besides, she was pretty sure the buzz at the office was how she ridiculed herself at the club.

If Bella didn't know better, she would be expecting a reprimanding letter from the company's HR Manager.

Furthermore, she could be fired. But thank God the man who owns the company liked her enough.

Henry was at the office. He was a busy man but somehow his mind was stayed on Isabella Blake. Meetings, contracts to be signed, Henry kept busy all day.

Life was so cold without Bella in it. To Henry, the only warmth was whenever he was with his new love.

He knew going to her apartment wouldn't be a good idea so he decided to ring her instead. She didn't pick up.

On his way home that evening he stopped at Bella's flat. Her car was parked outside.

The site of this old broken-down automobile gave Henry the chills. "No way this woman could drive this thing for another day", he said to himself.

He stayed in the driveway but decided to leave. Henry was slowly becoming a stalker.

Bella was in bed still. She hadn't moved from there for several hours, only to use the bathroom once or maybe twice.

Her mind was stayed on Henry too. The same way she couldn't stop thinking about him.

"Sometimes the best thing and the hardest thing are the same," she said, curling under her blanket. Falling asleep for the umpteenth time.

William was ordered by Henry on Tuesday to go to the car dealer company to pick up a new car for Bella.

He had already spoken to the dealership agent. Henry dug deep into his overflowing coffers and bought her one of the 2020 SUV's.

William had great respect for Henry. He would never even question any of his boss's decisions.

The new car was packed at Henry's place and he had decided to take it over to Isabella that evening.

Henry knew he couldn't buy her love with material things. In fact, he wasn't trying to do that.

Bella heard a knocking on her door at about 8:21 p.m. She noticed an SUV in her driveway.

She sighed...she knew it was Henry. "Another car again..." she whispered under her breath.

"Hi", Henry said as she opened the door. His eyes were glued to hers. Her face looked puffy from all that resting. She gave Henry a faint smile.

"Why are you here Henry?", she questioned as she let him in.

Isabella had never seen Henry in shorts before. He looked boyish. She laughed in her mind. He wore a Capri shorts with plain t-shirt and a flip flop.

"I bought you a new car. I will drive home in your old one," he said, walking over to the counter where she usually placed her keys.

There were other keys on the bunch so his dismantled them from the ring only taking the car keys.

"Henry. Wait. Hold up. This is not how you do things," she said walking behind him.′

"Bella take the car. It is yours. Everything is in your name. Documentation is in the glove compartment," he said as he closed the door behind him.

Poor Bella...stood there looking blankly at the door. She felt her head spinning. She held on to the doorpost not knowing what to think.

Her mind became fuzzy as she staggered to the window to look at a car that now belonged to her.

"I always prayed for a new car but...", before she could continue her thought her phone rang.

"Yes Henry", she replied as if she was annoyed.

There was a big silence on the phone before he said "Bella there's a bank card in the glove compartment. My pin is 0518. You can use it to get whatever you wanted".

Before Bella could reject Henry's offer, he hung up the phone. AGAIN!!!

At home Henry loosened his tie and sat in his lazy sofa, wondering what else he could do to please the apple of his eyes.

It was Tuesday. Almost the end of the day to be exact and Isabella decided to take a drive on the upper east side of town.

I mean after all she was spotting a brand-new SUV.

The smell of new leather, the cleanest and the massive space compared to her old boggy was second to none.

She couldn't believe that she was driving a new car after years of praying for a miracle that she would be able to buy one without plunging herself into further financial woes.

As she drove, she looked at the sunset and its beauty. She smiled at the wonders of nature. Bella could see couples walking in the park.

Some sitting on benches making out. She thought of Henry for a while and how wonderful it would be to just be with him like that. To talk to him. Walk with him. Hold him. Kiss him.

Bella decided to pull over and enjoy the scenery even more. She didn't want to think of Henry right now. She wanted to enjoy this precious alone time.

She went into her little bubble where it was peaceful. Where there was no going back to the office. Where there was no love triangle. She created a perfect image in her mind of a perfect world.

Onlookers probably thought Bella was crazy because she had a permanent smile on her face that wasn't fading.

But her imaginary bliss was disturbed by the constant vibrating of her cellphone.

"Hello", she answered. "Isabella why aren't you home? his husky but sexy voice asked. "Henry, I went for a drive," she replied promptly.

But why do I even owe this man an explanation, she thought.

"Where are you?", he asked. "I'm at the park on Kensington Avenue," she said.

"Wait there...I'm coming", he said and hung up the phone.

Isabella remained seated on the benches, twisting her body to the direction of the ocean. She was just in time to see the sun slowly vanishing into the sea.

Bella knew that she couldn't be in a relationship with Henry. At least not the kind she wanted.

She was also mentally tired of thinking about her feelings towards him. She spent the past one and a half day beating herself up about their relationship.

Several minutes later she felt someone sitting next to her. Bella was too deep in thought to even hear when Henry pulled up. "I missed you", he whispered.

Bella didn't look at Henry. Henry stood up and stretched his hands out. "Walk with me"...he said.

This married man had some kind of effect on Bella that she didn't understand. The weakness that takes over every time he makes a command has got to be illegal.

She stood up and walked with Henry. Henry had this hypnotizing effect on Isabella.

They strolled the park. Hand in hand. Hardly saying a word.

"Henry thank you for the new car. But I need to say something. Don't treat me to the things of this world. Your love is what I prefer...", she said turning towards him.

"My love is what you deserve", he said, lifting her chin and kissing her forehead.

If only this moment could be all it was. Minus the drama. Minus the family. Minus everything.

But Bella could not be unfair. This was not her life. It belonged to someone else and she knew somehow it would have to end.

Henry was still holding Bella, his lips pressed on her forehead when he heard someone called his name.

"Henry...Henry Steven?" . An elderly Caucasian couple stood there in shock and awe at the view of Henry and Isabella.

"Hello" he replied hesitating.

Mr. and Mrs. Livingston were close friends of Henry's wife Sarah.

They would stay at Henry's house in LA whenever they were in town.

Mrs Livingston watched Henry with disgust and hurt in her eyes.

Henry showed no emotion. He did not even let go of his mistress.

"Honey let's leave...Henry we will see you sometime" Mrs Livingston said, shaking her head and turning around every two steps she made.

Henry shrugged off what just happened and proceeded to hug Isabella.

Henry knew there was a storm coming.
