The Spread Of A Disaster

Rem found out that the elven kingdom was called Elkia when she rented a room to stay in at a decent-looking inn that was located at the Southwest of Elkia.

'They should be waking up soon.' Rem thought, glancing at the two still unconscious girls laying on the bed.

Alex was asleep, using Rem's right shoulder as a head pillow. The two of them were sitting on a small couch, near the bed. The room was something a middle-classed person would buy since the room was twice as large as the rooms cheap inns have.

The older girl woke up first.

"Are you alright?" Rem asked without moving her body.

She didn't want to wake Alex up on purpose. Rem knew how worn out it was for Alex at his age. Killing 9 ogres that smell similar to your kind isn't an easy task. What Alex had done was like you killing 9 humans, assuming that you're a human.

"Who are you?" The older girl asked cautiously, looking around her surroundings carefully.

"I'm Rem, and this is Alex. We were just passing by when we saw two survivors in a broken-down wagon. The wagon was surrounded by ogres, so we defeated them and I healed you and that girl too while you both were unconscious." Rem explained, looking at the older girl's reaction.

The older girl seemed bewildered, almost as if she couldn't believe what had happened. She calmed down, took a deep breath, then she faced Rem, looking at her straight in the eyes.

"Izel thanks you." The older girl bowed, sounding sincere.

'She's oddly calm. How polite of her. This is the first time I've heard someone speak using the third person.'

It's my first as well. This girl is unique... She can be very useful in the future if trained properly. My intuition says that.

'Just what are you before you got stuck in this blade?'

I have no idea. I can't seem to remember any of it.

'I guess that can't be helped.'

"You're welcome. The younger girl will wake up soon. You can take the bag of coins on the table. I rented this room already. You guys can stay for another day. Bye." Rem got up, being extra careful to not let Alex fall.

She caught Alex and walked towards the door while carrying him.

"Please, wait. Izel would like to repay you somehow." The older girl, Izel said.

"It's fine. You don't need to pay me back. Be extra careful, alright? You're in Elkia right now." Rem warned, continuing to walk towards the exit.

"Your name... Izel wants to know your name!" The girl said loudly.

This caused the other girl to wake up.

"W-Where are we, Izel?" The younger girl asked.

Rem stopped, turning back to face the girls.

"Who a-are you???" The younger girl began to panic when she saw Rem.

"Chloe, it's okay. She's the one who saved Chloe and Izel. Chloe and Izel are finally free...!" Izel said happily, smiling slightly.

"I'm Rem. This little guy here is Alex." Rem introduced.

"Mm..." Alex woke up, rubbing his eyes.

He was startled to see him being carried by Rem.

"P-Put me down!!!" Alex yelled, waving his arms around.

Rem put Alex down gently.

"Ahem... Please ignore that." Alex said, using his right hand to cover his face.

His ears were red like a tomato.

"Thanks for saving us." The younger girl, Chloe said, smiling at Rem and Alex.

"It's not a big deal. I'm strong. Defeating those ogres was nothing to me!" Alex said with a smug face.

He seemed proud and confident. Rem tried her best to not laugh. Thankfully, she succeeded. She said nothing about how afraid Alex was back there.

"Izel wants to follow you," Izel said, bowing down to Rem.

"Why me?" Rem asked in a serious tone.

"You saved Chloe and Izel. Therefore, you're strong. If you had no intention to save Chloe and Izel, then you wouldn't have treated Chloe and Izel." Izel pointed out.

Alex looked weirded out by the way Izel spoke. Rem patted his head.

"If you want to follow me, show me what you can do." Rem demanded.

"Izel will show you."

...

"GAHHHHHHH!!!"

"HELP MEEEEE!!!"

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Many screams and calls of help could be heard throughout Orthio City.

"Why is there so much noise? It's only 3 in the morning!" Oliver complained, banging the door to his room wide open.

Everyone inside the cabin slowly began to meet up inside the living room to figure out what was going on.

"There are monsters outside." Yukio pointed out.

"Yes, you're right..." Karina said while looking outside the window.

She was sitting on a chair that was right next to the window.

"Why are there so many of them?" Karina has a worried look on her face.

"We should help get rid of them. Sooner or later, these monsters will destroy Orthio City if we don't get rid of them." Kaito stated, leaning on the wall.

Yukino sat on the couch next to Yukio in a daze. As usual, she remained silent.

"If only Remie is here... What would she do...?" Karina mumbled.

"I'll try to get rid of as many of them as I can. It's a good thing they're nowhere near this cabin yet." Kaito walked towards the door.

He always has his weapons on him where ever he goes. The dual blades he uses are in a leather case. Multiple leather belts were wrapped around his waist, preventing the case to fall. This way, it was more convenient for him.

"I'll go too." Karina offered, following Kaito from behind.

"I'm going to stay here. I need to protect Yukino...!" Yukio said determinedly.

Yukio was holding onto the sheathed sword he usually uses to train, daily.

"Oh, come on! Don't leave me out on all the fun." Oliver followed the other two outside.

Inside, he didn't want to help, but he decided to help out to get Rem's trust.

"What in the world is he planning?" Oliver mumbled under his breath, pondering about what he should do.
