Five Heroes

Before Rem, Alex, Izel, and Chloe entered the inn, all they could hear were chattering and loud noises coming from inside. When they entered, they saw all the seats and tables full of people, food, and drinks. It was almost 6 pm in the evening, and people were already drinking their fill.

"Have you heard? One of the five heroes is in this city!" Rem heard someone yell.

'Five heroes?'

This piqued Rem's interest.

"You mean the heroes God chose? I think one of them is elven." Someone replied.

'God...? Do the five heroes have something to do with God? If they do, I need to meet them somehow. By chance, I might meet God... I need to get my revenge! I can't miss this chance.'

"You three, go back to the room. Here, have some jerkies while I'm gone for a little bit."

Rem threw a small bag of jerkies to Alex. Alex caught it, nodding happily. Alex, Izel, and Chloe walked up to the room they were in before.

'I have many things to take care of. No matter what, getting information about God is the most valuable. When I'm strong enough, I'll have to fight God. If I don't even know where he is, how can I get my revenge?'

Rem walked towards the elven men who were chatting.

"Can you tell me more about the heroes?" Rem chimed in, causing the two men to face her.

They looked at her with disgust.

"Why is a human here? Screw off, you filthy thing!" One of the men yelled.

The whole dining room became quiet. Now, all the attention is on the two men and Rem.

"Human? What's a human doing here?"

"I saw her the other day! I'm pretty sure she was the one who met the King."

"Humans should all perish! Why do they even exist???"

Rem sighed because of all the attention. The two men saw her sigh. This made them pissed off.

"How dare a mere human sigh in front of me??!" One of the elven men from earlier threw a punch at Rem.

Rem grabbed the man's arms, twisting them. With this much force, the man's two arms got dislocated.

"GAHHHHHHH!!!!!" The man screamed, wriggling on the ground.

"It's rude to punch a young girl like me in the face. Let's talk in a place where there are fewer people." Rem suggested, giving the two men a cold glare.

The people in the inn flinched by the powerful aura. Rem dragged the man that was on the ground, pulling his arm. The other man who saw what happened to his friend followed Rem in fear, not daring to disobey or anger her. After all, nobody wants their arms broken. Right after Rem and the two men exited the inn, the other people continued to eat, drink, and chatter. Only this time, it was much quieter, and the atmosphere was dark. Everyone just pretended nothing happened. However, none of them could forget Rem's menacing aura.

Rem and the two men arrived at an area without any people. That area was behind the inn.

"Speak." Rem demanded, releasing the man she dragged outside.

"I-I heard that the five heroes are in Elkia." The unharmed man spoke, trembling.

"All I know i-is, the five heroes are the ones w-who are chosen by God. They're supposed t-to protect everyone from harm. T-Their job is to defeat the Demon King...!" The unharmed man continued.

"What about you? Tell me everything you know about the heroes." Rem ordered, facing the man that was on the ground.

"Urgh... I-I heard the heroes came from another world...! The r-rest, he said it all! I really don't know anything else! P-Please, believe me...!" The harmed man pleaded.

'From another world? Hm...'

"Do you perhaps know how any one of the heroes looks like, or how I can find them?"

The two men shook their heads.

"I guess that can't be helped..." Rem muttered, sighing in disappointment.

She made a shooing gesture, causing the two men to quickly flee.

'How can I get more information?' Rem wondered.

She stood still as she pondered for a few minutes.

'Ah, I know. If I go there, maybe I can figure out something.'

Rem opened the map, searching for the place she's going to go to.

...

"Most of the monsters that came out of nowhere have all fled. We managed to defeat a few of them but in the process, we've lost around 20 knights." A knight reported.

"No, we must have lost more than 30 knights. Who knows how many of us these creatures ate? Unlike us, a majority of the people here can't fight." Leonard claimed.

"There are more than 100 citizen casualties." The knight exclaimed.

"What should we do, Gael?" Leonard asked.

"Prepare for another fight. We only managed to kill a few while most of them fled. We lost more people than the monsters we killed... Anyways, the monsters came from the sea. Therefore, we're going to build some defenses around the shore and add some knights there to guard it." The Commander, Gael replied.

"How many knights should we add? We don't have many that's under our control." Leonard stated, shaking his head because of his older brother's suggestion.

"I'll try asking the King to allocate 100 knights for us. I'm not too sure about whether or not he's going to allow it since I'm not from here. I'm the first prince of a fallen city, after all." Gael said in a cold, yet sad tone.

"Hopefully, our so-called father is killed in the process. I received a message that Arka City isn't completely destroyed. Although there's a lot of damage, the demons have merely taken over Arka City. One day, we will take back the city we couldn't protect...!" Leonard said, determined.

"Yes, we'll take back Arka City one day... Tell the other knights to meet at the shore. We need to finish building a better defense, fast." Gael ordered.

"After you do that, ask anyone who can fight whether or not they'll participate in the battle. We need as many people as we can possibly get." Leonard added.

"Understood, First and Third Princes of—"

"You may call me using the term, Sir. Don't call me a prince." Leonard cut the knight off.

"Call me Commander Gael. Make sure to tell the others to call us that." Gael said.

"Yes, Sir Leonard and Commander Gael."

The knight saluted at the two people in the room, exiting quietly.

"Elder brother... Um... Should we ask Rem for help?" Leonard asked in a hesitant way.

"He's on the wanted poster. Don't act recklessly. We're not in our city. Remember, this is Orthio City. People haven't accepted us yet. We can get killed anytime, anywhere." Gael warned, crossing his arms.

"I was just asking..."

Leonard shrugged, staring at the wanted poster on the desk.
