Cursed Hero

"I heard from the onlookers that it was you who did all this. Is that true?" The female knight asked Rem.

The majority of the onlookers and knights are beastmen, which isn't surprising since Leroy City is formed by beastmen themselves.

"Apologies, but I'll have to arrest you for using violence." The female knight tried to grab Rem's wrist.

"Don't touch her! She did nothing wrong!!!" Chloe yelled.

Before the female knight's hands could even touch Rem, Alex smacked her hands away.

"Don't you dare...!" Alex growled.

Izel glared at the female knight.

The female knight was about to say something. However, she was stopped by the many onlookers who claimed that Rem was a hero and she only did what was right. In the end, they didn't arrest Rem. Instead, they arrested the man wearing a top hat, the muscular man, and the blue-haired man.

Not long after the knights surrounded the suspicious crowd, everyone soon left.

"That took longer than expected." Rem began.

She felt glad to have people supporting her.

「Master, I can sense one of my kind nearby.」

She could indeed feel a strange presence not too far from where she was.

'Hmmm... Should I investigate?'

「My kind... My kind is hurt! I can smell their blood!」

{It looks like something's going on over there.}

Rem walked to where the strange presence was.

"Get away from that thing! It's cursed!!!" A woman's voice yelled angrily, almost sounding disgusted.

She immediately pushed her daughter towards her, moving far away from the person she shoved to the ground.

Bystanders watched from a distance, many whispering to each other about the "cursed" person.

"Isn't that the cursed hero?"

"Yes, I believe so. Don't get near it. I heard the imperial family say how that thing is cursed in person..."

"Why is it still alive? I can't believe it's here, in the same place we are in."

While hearing the horrible comments about the cursed hero, Rem chose to help out and ask a few questions. She was curious about who the cursed hero was.

'First, I'd like to get a closer look.'

Rem walked closer, getting past the crowd. She stood in front of the cursed hero and bent down, causing her to get everyone's attention.

"What is she doing?"

"Does she not know that it's cursed?"

"Why is she so close to that cursed thing?"

Rem ignored all the comments. She stared at the person before her as the boy kept his head down.

The boy looks like a homeless, young adult. He has short, messy, black hair that looked like it hadn't been washed in ages and dull, dark grey eyes. Injuries and black tattoos that looked like some kind of writing could be seen everywhere on him.

Rem inspected the boy's stats.

[Name: Samael]

[Race: Half-Werewolf]

[Job: Hero (Cursed)]

[HP: 15,000/15,000]

[MP: 10,000/10,000]

[Element: None]

(A/N: Stats are being fixed at this moment.)

'No wonder he's called cursed. It even says he's cursed... Does he not have an element because he's from another world? And... A werewolf...? Cynric, are you sure he's your kind?'

「Yes, I'm sure of it. I could have been a werewolf, but I won't know for sure until I get back my memories.」

'Alright. Is there anything I should know about werewolves? I don't think there were any vampires or werewolves in my past life's world.'

{Werewolves become the strongest when the full moon is out. Every night, they would turn into a full wolf, the size of a beastman. They'll usually go on a rampage if they can't control themselves. Of course, those beings have to eat flesh, no matter what kind.}

'That boy is a half-werewolf though. Are heroes normally a different race other than being a human?'

{There may be cases where a hero isn't a human. They could be from another race, but that rarely happens. It has been a long time since someone has been summoned here. I believe the last person who's a different race when they were summoned here was a few centuries ago.}

'Who are you, really?' Rem asked, feeling skeptical about the system she has.

"Hey, the little girl standing in front of that cursed thing!" Someone from the crowd yelled, disrupting Rem's thoughts.

Rem looked at the person who interrupted her with a slightly annoyed face. Though, many couldn't tell whether or not Rem's expression changed or not.

"Yes, ma'am?"

'What's that same woman here for? She better not be telling me to stay away from this boy...!'

"You must be his younger sister. I advise you to abandon him, but I'll pity you since you have a decent face, unlike that thing over there." The woman smirked, throwing a few coins onto the ground, in front of Rem.

The woman was a beastman who seemed well off. She's not a noble, but she's from a family that has its own successful business.

"Yes, I'm his younger sister." Rem lied.

"Haven't your mother taught you to not litter? Now would you kindly pick up the garbage you just threw and mind your own business like everyone else is doing here?"

The woman gritted her teeth. However, before she could argue back, Rem spoke again.

"Let's go to someplace where we can talk in private, Brother." Rem reached her hand out to the boy.

The boy reluctantly took Rem's hand. The woman didn't want to look bad in front of the public, so she could only glare at Rem and the boy, leaving the coins she threw on the ground.

'002, show me an area where it's quiet without anyone there.'

{Done.}

Rem opened the map, walking towards the flashing dot while holding the boy's hand. After all, she didn't want him to run away.

Alex, Izel, and Chloe followed Rem without complaining or asking anything. The whole time, nobody spoke a word. In a few minutes, they arrived at what seems to be a place where people dumped their trash. Rem stopped at this deserted place. She was the first to speak.

"Why do people call you a cursed hero?" Rem asked.

Seeing how the boy wasn't comfortable, she was about to tell him he could answer later if he wanted but the boy answered Rem anyway.

"I was summoned here just like how every other hero was summoned here. I-I'm blind and people say I'm like that because of the black marks all over my body... Maybe I am cursed..." The boy spoke, sounding dejected.

'He's blind...? Ah... No wonder his eyes look dull. His head was always down... I didn't notice.' Rem admitted.

"You are cursed." Rem said bluntly.

The boy looked like he was about to cry.

"It's not that bad is it?" Rem quickly asked, not wanting to see another person cry.

"It's not bad... It's hideous!!!" The boy suddenly yelled.

"If you're blind, how did you get here?" Rem questioned.

"I can detect where things are by using my other senses." The boy answered.

"Why are you called the cursed hero?"

"They summoned me here, but this isn't the body from the world I was in before. I think I'm a mistake..." The boy answered again.

"I was told that I don't have any powers a normal hero is supposed to have. I can only use dark magic..." The boy said anxiously.

He trusted Rem because she was the first to help him.

"M-May I ask something as well?" The boy asked after answering Rem's questions.

"What is it?"

"That curly-haired girl over there... Why is she here? Isn't she supposed to be a hero?"

The boy pointed at Chloe.
