Being the perfectionist that he was, Adam could not stop. Now that he started to form the basis of what he wanted with the devil, he had to have it as perfect as possible.
"Can you point out where we are on the map?" asked Adam.
He did not get a text answer, but an arrow appeared on the map. When he focused on the map, he noticed he had zones with more detail than others. It seemed the devil was using Adam's senses to fill out the information on the map.
Adam concluded it was good in some ways but bad in others. It meant that he did not have some magical way to fill out the map at a distance, so he would not have advanced information about the terrain and enemies. The positive was that he did know where the data was coming from, which will make it easier to improve the detail when he needs it.
"Can you bring forward the information on a specific part of the map?" Asked adam
"Let's establish a point of reference. The one I'm standing on currently, let's label it as (0,0,0). Calculate labels for all other places, using my foot as the unit. The reference should be (x, y, z) where x is horizontal, y the perpendicular on the same plane, and z the height from the floor, if we can determine that." Adam scratched his head, wondering if he could add anything else. "I think with this system, we can name any point in the map as a reference, right?"
<...>
<...>
<...>
Adam chuckled. The cartographic system was essential in the video games he used to play.
"That is the idea. So, can you give me an analysis of a point if I give you coordinates?"
Adam decided on a point on the map where the tribe had ambushed the beast earlier.
"20, 4, 0"
The map on the visual overlay highlighted the point on the map. And Adam got a pop-up from the devil.
"Perfect" answered Adam. "This kind of quick insight is what I need. If you have any way of measure mystical energy, it would be great to also track any changes on it in the map".
"Yes?"
"Well... something like that. I want to make it as easy as I can to live in this world. I think I can do it with you providing me data".
"Yes, but those are just fiction. I think we are now in the real world, right?"
"Or what?" asked Adam, with waited breath.
At that, the crystal on Adam's hand started getting hot. It jumped in his hand, bucking like a miniature horse. The next thing Adam felt was intense pain in his hand. The crystal was growing tiny sharp tendrils and burrowing in his arm.
It is the last thing Adam remembers before fainting out. It seemed he did not have all the control over the situation he assumed after all.
The tengu tribe noticed when the human got stiff, reached for his arm, and then passed out. Nobody cared or did anything about it. The most was Yorky getting closer and checking the human was still alive. He confirmed it and walked away to get another piece of meat from the kill.
