Ready... Almost

Once Adam explained spears to the System, they scanned the branches, and the System told him exactly where to cut and apply pressure to get nearly perfect spears.

Adam managed to make four small spears, measuring about the same length as Adam's arm. He still needed to make sure they were as sharp as possible, so they were dangerous in a fight. Additionally, he needed to harden the points to avoid them becoming dull at first impact.

He went to town with the small flint knife sharpening the spears. The System's help was valuable, as Adam asked for a visual overlay of what he needed to do.

Afterward, Adam went looking for Yorky. He needed some information, and the small dark Tengu was his only option. He found the little creature sleeping in one of the huts nearby the village center.

"Yorky, I need your help" said Adam while he shook the Tengu.

"I awake" answered Yorky, obviously still more on the other side.

"Ok, come outside for a moment" asked Adam.

Once Yorky met Adam outside, he did a double-take when looking at Adam.

"You carry weapons now?" asked Yorky.

"That is the idea. I do have some questions for you. Would it be OK if I join the hunting party outside when the next attack comes?" asked Adam.

"I think OK. I ask the big one. Where you find weapons?" asked Yorky.

"I made them myself. Is 'the big one' the chief of the tribe?" asked Adam.

"More or less. The big one no many ideas. But we check ideas with him. He strongest of the tribe. You make weapon for me?" answered the Tengu.

Adam hesitated to answer that last one. Yorky has been helping him for some time, but he did not want to spend a bunch of time arming the little Tengu and then getting it killed.

"I can make more weapons, but I need materials. What kind of weapon do you want?" asked Adam.

"I like sword. Like the big one has" answered Yorky.

"I am sorry. I do not have the materials for a sword. I want one too. I would need metal. Other metallic weapons I can reforge. Or maybe some ores. Some rocks where I can extract the raw metal" explained Adam.

"If I get the ores, you make me a sword?" confirmed Yorky.

Adam thought for a minute. He then decided it was worth a shot.

"I will. But you need to bring me more materials so I can make some weapons for myself. Is that OK?" asked Adam.

"OK. I look for materials. Wait here" answered Yorky.

"Wait, Yorky. I still have some questions" tried Adam, but the Tengu had already slipped past him at full speed.

Adam figured Yorky would take a long time to find anything, so he went out to the red grass fields to pick out some leaves. He had an idea that could be useful in many places, but it required loads of fibrous material and handwork.

By the time he was back to the village center with a big handful of red grass, Yorky was already waiting for him in the same place with a bunch of rocks of many colors. The Tengu saw him and came running.

"I brought rocks tribe had kept. Check to see if they ores" asked Yorky while pointing at the rocks on the floor.

Adam looked at them and wondered. Where did the Tengu have these stones hidden? He did not see them when he examined the village a while ago. Do they have a secret stash of riches he did not find?
