Chapter 32

I can never escape fate, can I? 

Year after year, I held on to a single wish, a solitary prayer, one hope—that my father would repent for his sins and sincerely apologize to my mother. Perhaps it seems selfish; after all, I harbored nothing but hatred and loathing for him due to what he did to her. Yet, as I grew up as a Muslim, my faith dictated otherwise. If Allah forgives those who repent from the depths of their hearts, then who am I to not pray for repentance for all of us, my father, my mother, and myself?
