Mother Knows Best

. . .

A woman in her forties caught the attention of many employees as she trudged her way towards their CEO's office. Her red heels clicked on the floor, with her assistant following right behind, bearing two loaded briefcases.

"Where's your CEO's office?" she asked one of the employees who shuddered from her fiery aura.

The female employee hesitated at first, not wanting to put her CEO into trouble. But thought otherwise, putting faith on Miss Lin. She knew that however formidable the enemy is, Miss Lin will always be tougher.

"It's located at the 100th floor, Madame. Do you want me to take you there?"

The middle aged lady flicked her hands, "I got it. Thank you," she said before making her way towards the elevator.

It took a few minutes before she reached the floor. She stepped out of the lift and headed directly for the CEOs office, bypassing Dorothy who was situated on her desk.

"Good Day, Ma'am, " Dorothy said while rechecking her CEOs schedule for today, as far as she can remember, there was no appointment. Upon confirmation, she faced the lady, "I'm sorry, Ma'am. Miss Lin doesn't have anything scheduled for today. May I know who you may be?"

"Assistant Chance..."

Assistance Chance stepped forward to show a business card to Dorothy. Upon seeing this, she immediately bowed in front of the lady before escorting her inside the office.

Zeirenne on the other hand, was with Jin, escorting the two celebrities out of her company. They both went up afterwards, with Jin getting off at the 99th floor where his office was located.

"See you later," he said before stepping out of the lift.

When Zeirenne reached her floor, she found Dorothy getting fidgety.

"Miss Lin... there's..." she looked at Assistant Chance who was standing by the door, "someone inside your office."

Zeirenne furrowed her brows before entering.

When she stepped inside her office, she saw Jin's mom facing her skyscraper window. She felt Mrs. Yang's aura darken from of her arrival.

"Aiyi, what are you doing here—"

"You don't have the right to call me Aiyi." Mrs. Yang said, not even bothering herself to glance at Zeirenne's direction as she continued staring out of the window. Zeirenne, who didn't know what was going on, decided to stay quiet for the time being.

"I have to be frank with you. But I don't like you for my son. I don't care if you're the richest bachelorette of this decade. I'm against this relationship and if I have to take your company down just to stop this... I'll do everything in my power." Mrs. Yang warned.

Zeirenne bit her lips, "Actually, there's something I have to tell you..."

"I don't want to hear anything. I don't know who you are and I honestly don't care. You might've been able to confuse him for a while but I know him. He doesn't just mingle with girls and I'm surprised to know this. You shouldn't be flattered if I tell you that you're the first girl to ever be in a silly relationship with him. But I'm already warning you."

"Uhm. Aiyi—"

"Jin's already in love with someone else. You can never compare to that precious angel. Don't think of me as heartless. I'm just warning you in advance because I know how he's still not over her and never will be."

At this moment, Zeirenne had already decided on keeping her mouth shut. She gave up on trying to butt in on Mrs. Yang's, or Aiyi's, as she calls her, monologue.

"Only one person is for him. And that's my precious Ze—"

"Mom!" Jin said as he came running inside. Both Zeirenne and Mrs. Young faced him. He looked panicked as if there had been a terrible emergency.

"Jin? What are you doing here? I thought you're in France?" Mrs. Yang asked.

He approached his mother, passing by Zeirenne who only shrugged her shoulders, "Mom what are you doing here?"

"Of course, I'm here to stop this hallucination."

"Mom, please stop this is a misun-"

"Don't tell me what to do! I'll never let this girl stay with you!"

Zeirenne's eyes started going back in forth. Mrs. Yang had never raised her voice to both of them before. Instead of getting terrified though, she found her Aiyi cute, and the situation funny. Getting worried for her unusual habit of finding serious things funny.

"Mom, what are you talking about?"

Zeirenne decided to settle herself on the sofa as if preparing to watch a dramatic scene about to roll in.

"Don't start with me. I'm your mother. I've known you for years! No matter how much you try to hide it... everyone knows. We all know that you still like Zei—"

"MOM!!!"

From the intensity of his voice, Zeirenne almost jerked out of her seat. She never imagined Jin raising his voice at his own mother. If he was not in a one-on-one conversation with Mrs. Yang, she would have already bonked him in the head. Surely, she does not condone this level of disrespect.

She had to hold herself more as she saw her Aiyi's eyes getting teary.

"Look at you! Did you just yell at me for this girl right here?!"

Ready to butt in on the conversation, Zeirenne stood up.

"Mom calm down. She's someone you know." He said as he opened his palm in Zeirenne's direction.

She bobbed her head before waving a simple, "Hello Aiyi."

Mrs. Yang had to blink twice. At once, her enraged expression changed. The fire in her eyes turned into hearts upon gazing at the best daughter she could ever ask for.

"Zeirenne, My love, So sweet!" she squealed before wrapping Zeirenne in a rib-crushing hug, "My sweet baby! What are you doing here?"

Zeirenne patted her Aiyi's back before breaking their reunion.

"This is my office, Aiyi. Ahahahaha."

Mrs. Yang had to let things buffer for a few seconds, "What do you mean this is your office? This is Zhi Lin's off- WAAAAH!"

Mrs. Yang gasped. Switching her stares from Zeirenne to Jin, and vice versa.

"D-do y-you... d-do y-ou mean to say that... that... y-you t-two... y-you two-" Mrs. Yang stammered before everything went dark. She fainted from too much excitement, but in her mind, she was all ready to see the light to eternity. Her last words would have been:

"Now that they're together... I can finally rest in peace."
