Recruitment

Recruitment

Seven days had pass, it was time for recruitment into the military academy.

It wasn't only Bai Chen that was here. There were many others from different towns in this particular state. They were enormously numerous that they numbered in thousands.

When everyone arrived in front of the massive gate of the military academy. Every kid including Bai Chen couldn't help but be awed. The parent only smiled at the amazement that filled the eyes of their kids. They were already used to this.

Rmmm!

The huge gate slowly opened and someone appeared telling everybody to come in. Bai Ling and her daughters helped Bai Chen carry his bags.

When the parents walked in with their children, someone came over. He looked huge and ferocious. This person gave the feeling that he had gone through a lot.

"I thank all families who have brought their kids here to come study. This kids you see here would become warriors that can move the skies with their presence alone one day. While other schools are like the MILITARY, we are like families here. We always look out for one another. We concern ourselves with the well-being of others. These kids will be well taken care of and everything they need would be given to them. So, keep your minds at ease. I know you feel their lives would be full of danger as they would be sent out there for military missions but keep your mind at ease. Your children would be safe with us. No harm would befall them. I beat my chest." The man said with a smile. As ferocious as he looked, no one would believe he would be able to smile.

Then he continued. "So, leave your kids and go back home with a perfect state of mind. We would take up other things concerning them from here."

Bai Ling gazed at her son emotionally. She hugged him again for sometime and when she pulled out from him, she gave him a kiss on the forehead. "Child, no messing around. Do what you came here to do. Although I said you shouldn't try to go after power which would turn you bad as you would loose your way, I want you to forget not the promises you made to your family. I want to see my little boy return to me with a title that would cause reverence and fear to appear in the eyes of everyone." she said in a loving tone.

Bai Chen nodded.

Then his other sisters gave him hugs and few advises with his older sister's sounding more like a threat. An empty one though.

When the parents left, the children where given uniforms and wooden cards which had numbers inscribed into them. These wooden cards showed the number of the room they would stay in.

Bai Chen's was 79.

He searched for the number for a long time. When he got it, he entered. Then he saw other boys in here, nine in number. Including him, they would be ten. These boys were also given the room to stay in. But the room was pretty large and spacious, and each boy had their own bed.

He greeted them and went to the last bed. Then he placed his baggage into a box. This was his personal box. Everybody in here had their own too.

"All new students should come to the hall now. Come in your uniforms" a voice suddenly sounded in all the rooms every recruits were staying.

Bai Chen and the other boys eyes widened in amazement, then they quickly got up, changed and put on their uniforms. They left the room and hurried down with everyone else to the hall.

Many minutes later, everyone gathered there. The hall was surprisingly large that it could contain thousands of the boys and girls that wanted to recruit into the academy.

Then a man came forward. He was the same man that addressed his parent outside.

"Good. Now that you are all here. Let me begin by telling you the rules of our military academy. One, always be in your uniforms during the day. Only in the evening can you change. Two, you would all wake by four a.m and jog for three hours. By seven a.m, you must all be in the field for hand-to-hand combat training. Three, no gluttony. If you are caught, you are out. No romantic interactions, if you are caught, you are out. No stealing from one another, if you are caught, you are out. That's all I have to say for now. I would come back with more rules. To those of you that have broken through to the flow activation stage. The library is now accessible to you. In there, you can get many books on battle-methods. Good day." he said and turned around to leave.

.....

- Room 79 -

Bai Chen sat in bed listening to what the boys in here were talking about.

"Senior Du Gu is still one of the strongest in here. No one can defeat him. Only he alone went for an A-star mission and came back unscathed. He is very powerful." One of the boys, Lu Wei said. "Senior Du Gu is powerful alright but I believe Senior Qin Ming is stronger. He has been the three-time champion of the inter-military academy competition." another Zhu Peng said.

They continued to argue amongst each other while Bai Chen listened to their arguments. From what they were saying, he could conclude that these boys were from the city. All these they said and argued about, he had no idea of.

"Du Gu and Zhu Peng must be pretty powerful for awe and fear to appear in the eyes of these boys." Bai Chen looked at the boys and could see fear in them anytime they mentioned their name. "I wonder how powerful they would be. That man said we should do away with every battle-method we have and study the ones in the libraries, I guess that doesn't apply to me. I have a more powerful one. But I would still need to go to the library so study a sword methodology so that I can conceal this one.

While everyone were asleep, Bai Chen was awake but cultivating. He was the only one in the room who had transitioned to a cultivator.

When it was four a.m, their wooden cards flashed and this caused Bai Chen's mind to reel in shock once they snapped open. The wooden cards surprisingly had the function of an alarm. He was amazed. Although it was not a technologically-advanced world, but their means were simply magical. He didn't know which was better between magic and technology.

He got up from his cross-legged position and went to have his shower. Then he put on his uniform. Then he furrowed his brows, the assholes in front of him were still sleeping.

"Guys, wake up!"

Bai Chen shouted trying to wake them up. But they didn't respond. It was like they had carried heavy logs of wood the previous day. They were sleeping and snoring and had saliva streaming down a side of their mouth.

"Disgusting lazy bastards". Then he went to their sides to try to wake them up. He tapped lightly many times to wake them. But his efforts were futile. There was one he woke that started saying things he couldn't understand.

Seeing they didn't wake, he became perplexed. Did these boys take something that had killed their nerves the previous day or is this how every boy from the city sleeps.

Bai Chen had forgotten that he had been used to this practice from earth for many years. Besides, it was the kids first time at waking up at such a time. And time was going, he believed he had spent more than three minutes trying to wake these boys.

He sent out heavy knocks to their head with the hope of waking them and he succeeded.

Ouch....!

Many sounds that spoke of pain filled the room. The boys stood up from bed with anger blazing in their eyes. "What did you do that for?" one of them asked in a furious tone. "I did that because you were sleeping like pigs. Those wooden cards flashed indicating the time we are to go for jogging. Am sure everyone have gathered there except us. Go take your shower and dress up" Bai Chen quickly said. "Is that why you should give us very hard knocks?" one of them asked.

Bai Chen shook his head. "am sorrrrry.. happy now?" he asked with a smile.
