Creation

"She's…pregnant?" Zatanna asked, bewildered as the couple waited for coffee in a café they stepped into not long after the battle against Darkseid.

"Yes-," Ben replied before being cut off.

"How so soon?"

"Her species has really fast gestation periods."

"But can't you sterilize your sperm?" The magician exclaimed.

"Yes," Ben sighed, "But I did the deed with her as a Tamaranean and some hidden DNA took over my senses, leading me to lose reason."

"I-I'm not sure how to feel right now," Zatanna murmured, "On one hand, I gave you the go ahead to further your relationship, but on the other, you surpassed ours in one night."

"Zatanna," Ben lightly said, holding her hands across the table, "I never planned any of this. I never expected to be in a relationship when I got here, let alone two. I…don't know what to do or say right now to make you feel better."

"I don't know either," Zatanna's face slightly scrunched, "I think I need some time alone to think," She slowly released Ben's hands from hers and stood up to leave.

"If that's what you want," Ben solemnly nodded.

Zatanna walked out of the café and teleported to an unknown location.

"What happened to your friend?" A perky waitress asked Ben as she placed both drinks on the table with a flirtatious look in her eyes.

Ben just gave a sad smile and took a sip of his coffee.

---------------------

After paying for the drinks and kindly rejecting the waitress's advances, Ben left and pondered as he walked around Metropolis. Wanting to take his mind off of the current situation, he decided to teleport to one of his planets.

It mostly resembled Earth but was five times its size and had a few changes. There were seven main continents which covered the general, main biomes and many subsequent territories with overlap. Ben appeared in the tundra territory, ice and snow thousands of miles in each direction.

The ice beneath him started to shake and crack. He took a few steps to the side and waited. A white furred hand the size of a car door broke from the surface and fell on the ice. A giant ape pulled itself out and landed heavily in front of Ben, who remained unfazed.

White hair covered the ape's body. Its posture was just like any other ape, on all fours. It was four times Ben's size and had long fangs protruding from its mouth.

"Hey boy," Ben patted the ape's arm, "Let's try this again."

Still touching the animal, Ben closed his eyes and tried to transform into it.

*Warning! Transformation not recommended due to significant decrease in intelligence. Transformation could lead to permanent decrease in important brain functions,* Trix warned.

"Damn it," Ben swore, frustrated at his failure.

Creating organisms was not too difficult but perfecting their brain took time and a lot of effort. In his eight years of creating new species, only a few out of almost a hundred became intelligent enough for Ben to make them transformations.

His idea to create was born from an impulsive need to use all the power he had. Keeping the powers of celestial beings was starting to mess with his head and he was afraid that he would start over utilizing them for trivial situations. To negate that feeling, he decided to create new planets and life.

"Ugh," Ben groaned as he watched the ape creature lumber around the tundra, searching for food.

A sharp whistle filled the air. Ben looked up into the blue sky and saw what appeared to be a fireball hurtling towards him. Not bothering to move, Ben stood still as the fireball grew closer and the shape of a falcon became noticeable. It soon crashed into Ben, enveloping him in a comfortable fire which was akin to a hug.

The nuclear phoenix was Bens first, successful lifeform that became a transformation. Realizing that the creature has missed him, he turned into it. His body became half his human size and was in the shape of a falcon but his body was made up of swirling fire.

*Long time no see Ra-kin,* Ben greeted telepathically.

*Where were you, Ben?* Ra-kin replied, his name in reference to Ra, the Egyptian god of the sun and rebirth (technically).

*I was messing with the null-void projector and got sucked into a different universe. One where some of Earth's population has abilities like magic, super speed, etc.,* Ben replied with a smile, *It was interesting to see.*

*But everyone here has abilities,* The fire bird sent as it sped around Ben's sitting form, *What's so different? Merc has super speed.*

*This isn't Earth though,* Ben chuckled, *And you're not human.*

The two took off into the sky and headed north towards the overlapping tropics and desert.
