"I trust you." He said. Lanie looked at him and nodded. "There are consequences to every choice you are choosing. You know that right?"

Lanie sighed. Yes. She knew. And it's starting to scare her.

"Just so you know, I'm always here whenever you need a back-up. My team was quite good." he said while giving her an assurance smile. Lanie scoffed before standing.

"You can sleep here anytime. Then maybe, we can visit the orphanage next month, what do you think?" she said. Alvarez chuckled before nodding at her. Lanie turned around to go to her room.

"Goodnight, Lanie." she heard Alvarez say. She only raised her right hand and waved at him before entering her room.

When she woke up, Alvarez was still sleeping. She prepared their breakfast before going to work. She also left a note saying that she will leave first and eat the breakfast she cooked.

Althea was off today so Carol, the other counter lady, was the one who's on duty today. She greeted her and went straight to the locker to change. Penelope is on her night duty for one month. She will work with Mark today since they're both on morning duty.

"Good morning, Carol. Any special guests?" Carol checked the guests lists. She put the list between them and pointed to the listed persons on the VIP list.

"Jake Jaquinto?" her brows furrowed when she saw Jake's name on the list of VIPs. Carol nodded at her. When Lanie saw Mark coming, she excused herself from Carol to greet Mark.

"I'll be assisting the VIP in room 789." she said and tapped Mark's shoulder. Mark raised his brow at her.

"Wow! What did you eat this morning that made you picky to our guests?"

"Whatever." she rolled her eyes on him before going to the elevator to check the man at the VIP. What is he doing here at our hotel?

Lanie knocked three times before announcing that she's here for room service. When the door opened, she saw a half-asleep Jake, scratching the back on his head.

"Good morning, Sir." she greeted while crossing her arms to her chest and raising her brow.

"Lanie?" Jake opened the door enough for her to come in. Lanie sat on the couch near the bed.

"What are you doing here?" she asked. Jake went to bed and sitted there.

"Nothing. Just want to unwind. And you're not replying to my messages." he said. Lanie stopped for a second and looked at him. She remembered the unseen messages of Jake. She decided not to open those messages for no reason.

"Oh, I-i am sorry. I was busy with work and some things." she answered. "What do you want for breakfast?" she asked instead to change the topic. Jake lay down on bed.

"Anything heavy, I didn't eat last night." said a low and deep voice. Lanie nodded and stood up. "Can you eat breakfast with me?" he continued. Lanie looked at her watch before looking at him.

"Hmmm. Maybe?" she said. She went to the kitchen to say Jake's order then went to the lobby while waiting. Her eyes became wide when she saw the people who were entering the hotel. She felt her heart starting to beat faster like she ran from the kitchen to the lobby.

Tyler Lancaster together with his secretary, bodyguard and Kieffer. When their eyes met, she suddenly looked down. They stopped in front of her but she didn't raise her head to look at them.

"Good morning, Mr. Lancaster and Mr. Andres." She heard Carol greeted. She also heard Kieffer chucked.

"Good morning, ladies." he answered and left first together with the bodyguard. Since Lanie's head was lowered, she only saw their shoes. Tyler was in front of her, looking at her because she can still feel that cold stare of him. Carol coughed and excused herself because there's a guest asking for her.

"Look at me." she gulped when he spoke. That cold and deep voice made her heart beat widely. She hasn't seen him for one day because she didn't go home to his place yesterday.

She raised her head and looked at him. She held her hands tightly as she tried to look at him.

"G-good morning. Mr. Lancaster." she finally greeted him. Mr. Lancaster clenched his jaw.

"See me in my office later." Before she was able to speak, Mr. Lancaster left. She sighed and went to the kitchen to get Jake's order.

She knocked three times again and opened the door before Jake opened it. He just finished showering, when Lanie entered he was putting his shirt on. "I got you rice, eggs and bacon. There's also brea and jam. Coffee and juice." she said.

"Let's eat?" Jake said while folding his dirty clothes at the bed. Lanie nodded at him and started eating. Lanie only took a small bite because she lost her appetite after she saw Tyler. Nervousness attacked her system as she remembered that she needed to go to Tyler's office later. What did he want this time?

She gets the glass of juice but it slides to her hands that are shaking. She anticipated that the glass would break so she quickly stood up but it didn't happen. She just stood frozen there blinking as she saw Jake holding the glass of juice. How… How did he catched the glass when he was in bed fixing his dirty clothes earlier? She didn't even feel him run. She didn't even see him going in her direction. She just felt the wind then, as soon as she blinked, Jake was already in front of her holding the glass.

"Hey, are you okay?" Jake held her arm. She looked at him with wide eyes while breathing heavily.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine." Jake looked seriously at her before nodding. Lanie sat on the chair again. Jake went to the mini refrigerator, got a bottle of water and handed it to Lanie.

"Relax. If you break it, I will pay." he said. Lanie looked at him and smiled a little. But her eyes landed on Jake's neck when she saw something that shined there. Her lips parted when she saw a lightning tattoo on his neck. Jake seemed to notice that so he held Lanie's shoulder to lose her focus on his neck.

"Aren't they looking for you now? You spent too much time here in my room. They might get the wrong idea." he said playfully. Wanted to change the atmosphere and avoid the questions he was seeing in Lanie's eyes.

"O-oh! Y-yes. I need to go. I'll see you later." she said and looked at his neck once again before deciding to leave.

After Lanie left, Jake touched his neck and bit his lower lip. "How come she saw my mark?" he said while looking at the mirror. He tilted his head to have a better view of the tattoo on his neck. "Is she one of us? But I didn't see any mark on her body and I also didn't feel her energy." he continued. He shook his head and dropped what he was thinking. There's no way Lanie can see their marks.

Meanwhile in the CEO's office, Tyler tilted his head while tapping his fingers on his table. "He used his power?" he suddenly asked. Kieffer looked at him, brows furrowed.

"What? Who?"

"Jake's here. I felt his energy when we entered the lobby." Kieffer's eyes widened.

"If he's here then…" Kieffer didn't continue what he was about to say because Tyler already nodded.

"Lanie was in-charge of assisting him." He said. Kieffer smirked, then shook his head.

"And you said, he used his power? When a sorcerer uses their power, their marks will glow." He said and looked at the serious Tyler.

"I wonder if Lanie saw his mark." Kieffer said before smiling like he is enjoying what is happening now.
