The Only Witness

"Who was that?" Kevin asked in the middle of eating. Lanie looked at him as she took another spoon of rice.

"Who?" she asked while chewing.

"That someone you said you always remember when you are looking at me. You said that to me before but you answered that you don't know." he said. "Do you still not remember until now?" Lanie nodded as she remembered her telling that to me. She took a sip on her juice before she leaned on her seat.

"Patrick Alvarez." she said. Her voice sounded happy yet mourning. "Lieutenant Patrick Alvarez." she continued before she smiled like she was reminiscing all the times she spent with him.

"He was a good friend of mine in the city. A very good friend of mine. We met in the Pyeha Hotel. Something horrifying happened that day and they came to investigate. Ah, he was a lieutenant. After that, we became partners because we found out that we had some sort of connection in our pasts."
