The Only Witness

<p>Lanie's feet were glued on the floor. She was stunned to see the man in front of her. He became more mature now the last time she saw him in the cemetery three years ago. The day that he asked her to come back for them but she didn't. Seeing him for the first time in three years broke her heart. She wanted to run into his arms, hug him and tell him that she's sorry for not coming back. She wanted to ask him if he waited for her. She wanted to ask how he is for the last three years. She wanted to ask how her mother is doing now. She wanted to ask if he was okay now that he's father was already gone. She wanted to ask him if he's angry with her.  But she couldn't. She couldn't because he didn't know her now. He forgot all the things about her.  </p>

<p>"Lanie?" Kevin got her attention when she didn't respond and remained staring at Jake that was now offering his hand for a handshake.  </p>
