Confrontation

"What do you think happend here Detective?"

"Well at first sight it seems like everyone in here died from the fire, but i think that's not the case"

"Why so?"

"What fire would tear limbs? And which fire would prevent anyone from escaping, when there were two exits?"

"I see, well do you have some clues on who did this?"

"I have some ideas, because this probably wasn't done by a human and then barman of this tavern wasn't human either."

"Well i can see the horns on the barman, but why do you think this couldn't be done by a human?"

"They were all killed with bare hands, and some of them were beaten to death with their own limbs. That's not something you can achieve with human strenght. Maybe it was done by a beastman"

"I don't think that's the case, most of them are either dead or enslaved."

"That is true, but who would have such immense physical strenght to do these things."

"Well anyways, it's not like a guard like me will be of any help to you so i will be on my way."

"Very well, goodbye."

"Goodbye."

"That was a rough day, but it was worth it." Thought Jack as tiredly fell on his provisional bed made from leaves, some cloth he found and some other things he could get his hands on.

He then realised he didn't look at his stats, they should be pretty fucking high now that he killed so many people.

[Statistics:]

[strenght: 11,4]

[agility: 12,5]

[endurance: 10,4]

[inteligence: 9,1]

[charisma: 0]

[Skills:]

[Absorbtion]

[Mental pain nullification max]

[sociopath lv.4]

"That's some good shit!" Thought Jack as he looked throught his stats.

"But it appears that they had almost no inteligence, what do you think system?"

"Well they were from the slums and were drunkards, I didn't expect much more inteligence from them."

"That's true. But anyways i guess it's time to go to sleep."

"True tommorow is gonna be a hard day too."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next day Jack went to socut for his next target.

This time he felt like he could beat an army with his new stats, but he decided not to overestimate his strenght and to stick to killing 1 or 2 people as he was still tired and injured from yesterday, even though his wounds were healing incredibly fast.

As he scouted for his prey he finally found it. The target he picked was a big man, and by big i mean big, he had no less than 2 meters in height and probably around 100 kilos of almost pure muscle, this meant a tougher fight but also a bigger payout in the form of stat points.

Jack wondered how such a man got into the slums, but did not matter to him, he was pertty sure that even with his wounds he could beat him. After all if a normal human could sprint at around 20 km/h and he could be almost 12 times quicker, there was a chance his target would never even see him coming.

He decided to follow his target and hope for that he will get into some valley, where he could easily pick him off, as Jack didn't want to fight an army of guards while injured.

After a while of following his target the patience paid off and he was alone with his target in an alley.

"You've been following me for quite a while now, haven't you?"

Jack was pretty surprised that the man noticed him in the overpopulated slums, but that did little to move him.

"What is it that you want from me?"

"Revenge."

"Excuse me? Revenge against whom? For what? You know, I'am the captain of the guards if it is in my power, and the one you target broke the law i would like to help you." Said the man with a warm smile

"You cannot and will not want to help me, even if i wanted your help."

"Why is that so?" With little grimmer face

"Because i swore revenge om the whole being, on every living thing, on every piece of stone, on every god, on every fucking atom in this shitty world we live in!" Screamed Jack with a crazy smile while laughing and reveling his horns.

"Is that so? Then it was probably you who caused all the uproar in the city as of late."

"Yes, but that doesn't matter, because you wil die shortly."

The captain's face became even more grimm, to the point where it almost looked like he was being forced to do something he really didn't want to do.

As the captain just barely got into a fighting position Jack rushed at him wtih incredible speed, but to his surprise he was blocked and pushed back.

"No wonder you could kill everyone in a tavern and also kill a demon magician, yu're quite string huh?" Said the captain with an emotionless face, which looked almost bored or disgusted.

"What is with your face? You're not smiling so you're not enjoying this fight, but you also aren't angry or scared, what is the emotion you feel?" Sadi Jack while crouching as to lauch himself at the large man again.

The captain blocked another of Jack's attacks and answered.

"pity"

After that he pushed Jack back on the ground and pinned him down.

Jack got out of this pin, with his impossible physical stenght.

"Don't feel pity for me now! It's too late! The world should've cared when they tossed me aside as if i was a peace of garbage!" Screamed Jack angrily.

Now Jack knew this will be a strong opponent. He knew that he was stronger than his opponent and quicker too, but the problem was that Jack lacked any sort of combat training, while his opponent was clearly trained and could easily predict Jack's attacks even if he didn't see them.

But Jack had a plan. Because no matter how much of a martial artist he is he probably doesn't have the endurance of 10 people like Jack does, which meant that Jack could tire him out even if he was hurt.

Unforntunately for Jack, Captain knew of his intensions and had a plan of his own.

Unbeknowst to Jack, there existed magic stones in this world. They were created by absorbing magic for centuries and many of them had many weird abilities when they were broken.

Which ment he didn't think that the broken stone behind the captain was of any importance. But it was actually the main part of the captain's plan, as it was a rare communication stone, which allowed the one who broke it, to send a telepathic message to someone else. It was oneway communication but for this age, but still better than nothing and it allowed captain to allert the city guards.

As they fought for another 10 minutes Jack heard something, something he could've heard sooner if he wasn't too focused on the fight. The clinking of steel armor and weapons.

When Jack turned around, it was already too late. There was a shield wall blocking the whole alley.

Because the alley was small there were even several lines of guards behind shield wall with spears.

When Jack looked up as to try to escape, by jumping up to the roofs he saw dozens of archers lined on both sides of the alley.

Jack quickly thought through his possiblities. If he would jump up and tried kill the archers he would either be shot or even worse, grabbed by the captain. If he would try to go after the shield wall, he would probably be impailed even with his high stats and finally if he would go against the captain he wouldn't make any progress and would be probably impailed or shot from behind before he would do any real damage to the captain.

Then Jack saw it, an outline of doors on the wall on the irght side of the alley. They were probably painted over. This gave Jack an idea.

He thought he probably couldn't break throw and outer wall of a house in his state, but an old wooden door, that was a completely different situation.

As Jack seemingly readied himself to sprint, all of the guards readied their weapons, only to be left in awe when he jumped throught the wall.

After Jack jumped throught the wall he founf hismelf in a regular looking house. He was apparently in the kitchen of the house. Across the room from him there was a woman and a little child, which was barely standing.

He quickly sprinted towards them and grabbed them both under their necks, almost choking the little kid. But that didn't matter to Jack, as long as he had atleast one hostage he would think something out.

When the guards quickly approached and formed a quarter ring around the corner of the kitchen where Jack was standing, he knew he had no chance of escaping if he somehow lost his hostages.

"Calm down now and put the child do-" Said one of the guards before being cut off by his captain.

"It's no use. Until we let him escape he isn't going to let them go, am i right?"

"Yes, indeed." Said Jack with a disturbing grin.

"But sir, we cannot trust that he will let them go, that's insane!"

"Now that broke my heart, i hate lying you know. Ask the girl which i left alive as promised. Now here is my deal, you're going to let me go, i will let this woman go immedietly, as a token of good will and take this kid with, he will be my insurance. When i see none of you follow me, i will give him to the nearest person and tell him to give this little brat to the guards."

"That's insane, we're not going to agree to that!" Shouted one of the guards

"Be quiet." Said the guards captain, immedietly shuting everybody up.

"Let him go, civilian lives matter the most."

"But cap-!"

"I said be quiet!" Shouted his captain back at him.

"We agree, release that woman and then we will leave and wait for this kid to arrive at the guards barracks."

Jack just grinned and let go of the woman, of course she wanted to save her child as well but she was immediately pulled back by the guards.

After this the guards made pathway for Jack and di nothing as he escaped.

When Jack was sure he wasn't followed he did as promised and gave the kid to some stranger with directions, it was not his problem if he was going to deliver the brat.

As Jack finally reached his hideout he collapsed on his improvised bed.

"Well that was a good fight, but it was not worth it at all." said Jack while closing his eyes, falling asleep.
