Star Guard Mission I

A request came to Konoha from the Land of Bears, more specifically, from its hidden village, Hoshigakure. This alone was plenty strange. A hidden village putting in a mission request to another hidden village from another country was simply not something that usually happened.

According to the request put forth by Akahoshi, the self proclaimed Fourth Hoshikage who had yet to truly ascend to the position after the death of his predecessor.

The mission was to guard the namesake of the village, the mysterious "Star" that had fallen of the territory of the Land of Bears, about 200 years in the past.

This Star contained special powers which were used by the shinobi of Hoshigakure to develop their village's signature hijutsu, the Kujaku Myoho or Mysterious Peacock Method. The various details surrounding this matter however, were jealously guarded by Hoshi.

Just like before, soul clone Tsunade wanted Shiki to bring out a genin team to gain some experience in this mission as well and since he was confident that wouldn't hamper his own personal endeavours in Hoshi, he accepted.

In the original series, it should have been Guy's trio along with Naruto but Shiki's presence had cause major differences to occur and since he had already brought those three out and Naruto wasn't even around he got a different group.

Rather than one of the genin groups, Shiki got handed a mishmash, mostly due to certain members of a few of the groups having been promoted to chunin and thus, not eligible to participate.

Said members of the group Shiki now had in his hands, were Ino, Kiba and Shino who were already instructed to get ready and meet the jonin that would bring them out for a mission at the village's main gate.

"I see you've all gathered so let's go shall we." Shiki appeared out of nowhere and said.

"Wow! Never thought I'd get to go on a mission with you Shiki! I'm so ready!" Ino exclaimed.

"Heh! Ready to fawn over Shiki . . . san you mean." Kiba said, pausing on the -san.

"You should stop Kiba. That's because we'll be teammates for this mission and causing dissent will e detrimental to all of us." Shino warned.

"I couldn't agree more Shino." Shiki declared.

"Let's get a move on." He commanded.

"""Yes""" The trio answered with different degrees of enthusiasm.

"Have you been briefed on what our mission will be?" Shiki asked.

"Guard some Start or whatever right?" Kiba said.

"A Star? Probably a meteorite no?" Ino interjected.

"Right on both accounts you two. But this is not a regular mission so you better exercise caution you three." Shiki agreed and warned.

""Not a regular mission?"" Ino and Kiba asked at the same time but but rather than Shiki, ity was Shino that answered the question.

"The answer to that question, lies in the fact that this mission was commissioned by another shinobi village." He pointed out.

"Eh? Then why did they ask for us?" Kiba asked dumbfoundedly.

"They probably just couldn't handle it themselves." Ino said dismissively.

"All three of you make good points. But I suspect there's more to the situation than meets the eye. You don't need to worry however, that's exactly why I'm here. So all y'all need to worry about is to guard that meteorite."

"Understood." Shino answered.

"You can count on me Shiki!" Ino assured.

"Alright, you got it." Kiba said.

The journey was rather uneventful and they all easily reached the borders of Hoshigakure and according to Shiki knowledge, only now did the danger start.

"Alright listen up!" Shiki called out to the genin getting their attention.

"Form now on don't make a move without my say so understood?" He commanded.

Getting a nod from all three genin, Shiki continued.

"There is a valley surrounding Hoshigakure. It's called the Devil's Valley and is filled with poisonous gas but I'll bring us all across no problem." Shiki declared.

Reaching said valley Kiba and Ino peaked down the cliff only to the the skeletons of various dead creatures. freaking the girl out a bit and unsettling the boy.

Shiki's didn't want to use his Mangekyo's ability in front of them so he simply threw a marked kunai onto the other side of the valley using the Lorentz Gun jutsu and used Flying Raijin to teleport them across in a flash of white light.

"Okay, we've crossed it, let's see if we can find our client." Shiki said.

The trio could only marvel at Shiki's transcendent ability. All of them had heard of how truly awesome he was from various sources Like Naruto, Hinata and even Sasuke on occasion.

They also knew he was one of the youngest jonin in Konoha's history but only today did they finally get the chance to start experiencing his legendary capabilities.

Almost immediately after Shiki said this, their guide showed up.

"How did you cross?" He asked confrontationally.

"Is that how you greet your village's guests?" Shiki asked back while telling the trio to keep quiet.

"Hmph! Follow me . . . guests." The shinobi of Hoshi said with disdain.

No one in Konoha's group appreciated the tone he used but Shiki had already warned them not to do anything and follow his lead so they kept their discontent to themselves.

A while later, all three of them were standing before the self proclaimed Fourth Hoshikage, Akahoshi.

"Thank you all for coming friend from Konoha! I hope your journey was without incident." He greeted with an amiable looking smile.

"Thank you for having us Akahoshi-san." Shiki said with a smile causing the man's own smile to twitch imperceptibly.

"Rude! Akahoshi-sama is the Hoshikage!" The guide that brought them here said.

"Subaru!" Akahoshi warned.

"Self proclaimed Hoshikage! Big difference!" Shiki said with a mocking tone, causing the man's to break slightly.

"What do you mean by that!?" Subaru the guide asked, utterly outraged.

"What I mean is . . . Akahoshi-san is not yet the official Hoshikage and beyond that, Hoshikage is not even a position recognised by the rest of the world. Understand brat?" Shiki mocked with no regard at all.

"You!?" Subaru said before stopping and turning to Akahoshi.

"Akahoshi-sama! We do not need the help of these bastards from Konoha!" He shouted.

*sigh* "Were you dropped on your head as a child?" Shiki asked with exasperation, causing the three genin to make valiant efforts to suppress their laughter.

"Wha-!?" Subaru attempted to start before Shiki interrupted him.

"The Start is obviously a very sensitive matter to your village, yes?" Shiki asked as if explaining things to a child.

"So what?" The boy fired back.

"So . . . If your village was capable of dealing with the matters of its protection . . . There's no fucking way we would be called here. Isn't that pretty, fucking, obvious?" Shiki said while looking at Subaru as if he was a retard.

"Hmph! With the power of the Star, that will soon change! Our Hoshigakure will stand above the five great nations!" Subaru exclaimed with pride and arrogance.

Even Akahoshi was appalled at the stupidity of the statement and didn't know what to say.

*sigh* Sighing once again Shiki humiliated the poor lad once again.

"First, if that is truly the case . . . Do you think, that revealing that to a member of one of those great nations, while your own is still weak is a good idea?" Shiki asked, once again looking at Subaru as if he was an even bigger retard.

"And second, save your dreams for when you're asleep okay?" Shiki continued, this time talking as if to a child.

"The Land of the Sky, whose military strength and resources were more than a hundred times greater than yours once tried challenging the five nations by itself. Do you know what happened?" Shiki asked.

From the curious reactions, clearly no one in the room had heard of such a thing ever happening.

"I've never heard of the Land of the Sky!" Subaru said with suspicion.

"Precisely my point!" Shiki said confusing everyone.

"You haven't heard of them . . ." He made a dramatic pause.

"Because after they made that arrogant statement, Konoha alone crushed them completely to the point almost no one even remembers they existed!" Shiki finishing with a bright looking but chilling smile.

In the end, the boy had to shut up before logic and shortly after, the Konoha group was stationed in position to protect the Star.

Subaru tried to argue that they couldn't approach the place the Star was housed in but Shiki just straight up ignored him as he ordered the genin about, preparing for the mysterious "thief"'s arrival, he was truly looking forward to it . . .
