"Let's go immortal fool! I want to see how much punishment you can take!" Guren said with anticipation.
"You'll pay for setting those puppets on me girl!" Hidan shouted as he jumped towards Guren, his spike raised high in preparation to strike her down.
'Crystal Style: Crystal Wall'
Guren created a wall of crystal, blocking Hidan's strike.
"Damn it!" He creamed in frustration.
'Crystal Style: Growing Crystal Thorns'
With Guren's jutsu, countless thorns grew out of the crystal wall she had previously created and assaulted Hidan from all directions.
Hidan frantically dodged using his spike to smash the thorns he could not as he thought.
'Shit! I could really use my scythe right about now.'
'Even then, this bitch really is a shitty opponents for me. She's really the type I'm worst against. I'm already regretting not retreating when Kakuzu suggested it.'
'I should ask for backup but I don't really want to lower myself and ask for Kakuzu to help me. . .' Hidan was facing a dilemma.
Guren on the other hand, was having her much desired fun as she swiftly dished out another jutsu, all while still keeping her previous one going, proof of her great skill, trained in the time she had spent in Mugetsu.
'Crystal Style: Tearing Crystal Falling Dragon'
From behind Guren, a pink crystal dragon emerged to fly over the crystal wall and assault the cornered Hidan.
Finally over the edge, Hidan decided to lower his pride and as his partner for help.
"Kakuzu buddy, help me out here!" He shouted.
Hearing this, Guren made no change to her attacks while Haku just kept watching Kakuzu carefully for his response.
"I thought you were fine in dealing with two girls alone Hidan." Kakuzu commented with mirth.
"Well, I was mistaken! Is that what you wanted to her? Now help me!" Hidan shouted back.
"I am helping you Hidan." Kakuzu replied.
"How!?" His partner questioned with outrage.
"I'm keeping her partner in check." Kakuzu calmly answered.
"Then why don't we fight two on two?" Hidan suggested, slight fear creeping into his voice.
"Hmph! Fine!" Was all Kakuzu needed to say before Haku immediately attacked.
'Ice Style: Ice Needle Hail'
Needle shaped hail rained from the sky and the air around Kakuzu, assaulting him from every direction.
'Earth Style: Domu'
Facing this omnidirectional attack, Kakuzu hardened his entire body with earth style causing all of Haku's ice needles to shatter on impact and do no damage at all.
Realizing that, her normal precision based attacks would not work on her opponent, Haku adopted a different style of combat and started using Ice style in a more power focused way, something which Shiki had insisted for her to train in despite her dislike for such methods.
'Thank you Shiki-san for insisting I train in these methods as well.' Haku gratefully thought as she unleashed the Ice Style variant of one of Shiki's favourite jutsu.
'Ice Style: Ice Dragon Song'
Three large white dragons made of ice soared through the air to strike Kakuzu as he made his own counterattack.
"Fire Style: Searing Migraine!"
The intense firestorm, even with its blistering heat only slightly melted the ice dragons who flew unhindered at Kakuzu that was forced to dodge.
'Just flames are not enough . . .' Kakuzu thought.
'No choice, better get serious. These little girls are better than I gave them credit for.' He said in his mind as the seams that held his body together started bursting, leading his appearance to change quite drastically.
Kakuzu's arms elongated and the cursed noodles made by Jiongu came out of his back in great quantities like forming a pair of wind, each one of them bearing a mask.
One mask contained Kakuzu's fire chakra bearing herat while the other had the wind chakra bearing one. As for the other three, Kakuzu elected to keep them in his body for now.
What he wanted, was not a decisive battle between both groups so he would not deploy his full set of hearts.
Kakuzu's aim was to break out of battle with his opponent and join up with Hidan before retreating.
'Considering the calmness and rationality of these two girls, they should let us go if we chose to retreat.' Kakuzu planned.
'Even if Hidan's opponent is not satisfied with that result, the one facing me will be able to placate her, at least from what I've seen from their interactions.' He considered.
'First things first though . . .'
Kakuzu prepared to unleash a wind fire combination jutsu in an attempt to melt Haku's ice and make a break for Hidan but Haku was no fool and, just as Kakuzu had done, she had also made her own analysis of the situation.
'Thank to our upgrades, our ability to conduct battle at a high pace for long periods of time was greatly improved. If the situation is maintained, Guren will capture her opponent in her crystal, long before she gets tired.' Haku considered.
'So long as I can hold my own opponent until that happens and the battle becomes a 2 on 1, he won't even be able to escape.'
'Although I lack the means to produce an attack powerful enough to shatter his defenses, holding him in place should be no problem so long as I act quickly.' She thought.
But, there was a problem.
'At the current stage of Shiki-san's plans, revealing our full power would be ill advised. Shiki-san want's the Akatsuki to see us as a powerful competitor, not a crushing overlord.'
'If I trap Kakuzu right now . . . either we take them and finish them right now and according to plan. Or, we fail and will be forced to risk showing our Curse Marks and Gelel Energy to turn the tides for a safe win . . . '
Unlike the hotheaded Guren, Haku had various consideration when she evaluated the situation and what they should do. It was one of the reasons Guren listened to her opinions and followed her suggestions when it came to missions.
Both decisions had their merits but Haku had to make her choice, she sensed Kakuzu was also about to make his move after all.
'Let's not put all the eggs in one basket . . .' It suddenly came to her.
'If we take out the loud one, the more calm and focused of our enemies will probably retreat on his own if we give him the opportunity, so long as he doesn't sense weakness.' Haku considered.
'He does not seem concerned at all with his partner's life anyway . . . Yes, let's go with that.' She decided.
these thought came and went as Kakuzu underwent is transformation and now, just as he was about to unleash a powerful attack to break through Haku's block, she moved just before he had the opportunity.
'Ice Style: Crystal Ice Mirrors'
Haku's secret jutsu was no longer the same as she had shown within the original series, it now contained a sealing element as well as a spacetime element. This both increase its strength and mitigated its weaknesses.
Not only was it much harder to escape, just by being inside the barrier made by the mirrors, the enemy would have their chakra slowly drained to reduce the cost of the jutsu.
And, with the spacetime aspect, not only was Haku's speed increased, the mirrors could also absorb attacks that would be launched from another mirror of Haku's choice, thus making impatient attacks very dangerous.
As he saw the ice mirrors forming around him, Kakuzu immediately unleashed his attack but it was far too late.
Before the the barrier was fully formed, flame spilled from in between the mirrors, partially melting them but, as Haku poured in more chakra, the were formed faster than the flames could possibly melt them.
Now, with Kakuzu fully locked in, Haku elected to just wear him down instead of trying to go for the kill.
He objective was to make him spend as much stamina and chakra as possible without compromising her own reserves. This way, once Guren captured the other one, Kakuzu would see that he had no chance of victory and thus flee.
All of this though, leveraged on Guren successfully capturing Hidan. With his immortality, killing him would be difficult but Guren's crystal jutsu were quite a bad match for him, considering the extensive trapping and sealing capabilities of the kekkei genkai, which were only enhanced by Shiki's training.
"Shit, shit, shit, shit, SHIT!" Was all Hidan could shout as he was battered by crystal dragons and his clothes and skin were torn by crystal thorns.
'What the fuck is holding Kakuzu!?' He thought.
'He better not be taking petty revenge!' Hidan considered the possibility.
He no longer had the ability to see what was going on outside his own battle, otherwise, his hopelessness would be even bigger.
Still, Kakuzu not being able to help didn't even cross his mind. Ever since he partnered up with the Takigakure nukenin, the man had always been the heavy hitter of the duo.
While Hidan considered his own form of immortality and hsi resilience far better than his partner's, he had no delusions that Kakuzu had more raw fire power than him.
Alas as he got surrounded by more and more crystal shards that he had broken before, Hidan's fate was sealed.
Using the scattered crystals as her medium, Guren unleashed her final jutsu.
