Trash's Futility

The morning sun began to rise above the horizon as the chirping of the birds began to echo through the valley. Lin Yu began to rise from his bed, the hard floor causing a kink in his back as he groaned and rolled his shoulders. He took a deep breath as the crisp morning air filled his lungs, his body was ripe with energy as well as an aching pain from the day before. Slowly he sat up and stretched, his joints popping as he got up and pushed through the pain. Today was the wretched day he had been fearing for the past eight years, each day he tried to push away from and grow stronger. With no avail, he had been suffering more and more as his training yielded no results.

As Lin Yu stood and looked towards the empty room that he called his own, it lay bare with only a bed accenting it as he took a deep breath as he looked out the window towards the forest that his family's home sat on the outskirts of the Sky Scroll sect. A deep chill ran through his bones as he took a breath and slipped through the window, going into the forest like he had every day. If he had gone through the front door he would have most likely encountered his father who was likely to be wearing a grin at the day's coming events. This spurred his mind more as he took off into the forest.

He needed to train harder than any day in his life, today he needed to at least break through the first level of Febel soul and even that wouldn't make his fate certain. He felt that he was trying to outrun a beast with unfathomable speed, the beast called time and fate that kept nipping at his heels, a constant reminder that no matter how hard he tried he was doomed to be nothing but garbage. This constant damper was a reminder that he was incapable of surpassing himself, incapable of manifesting his true abilities as a member of the Sky Scroll Sect. It was as painful as a searing blade through the heart being twisted over and over again, the knowledge that no matter how hard he tried he would never be the son his father wanted.

Lost in his thoughts made time seem as if it was flying by, an hour into running he had made it to his secret spot. A small clearing in the forest where the sun shined down on a flat rock, a small pool of spring water, and a plethora of herbs springing up beside it. Here he spent every day devouring herbs, cultivating, submerging himself in the water, and not once did he push closer to his goal. Everything seemed lost, an endless loop of damnation to be at the bottom of the ladder of cultivation, unable to excel himself from this disheartening truth.

He pushed the thoughts of failure out of his mind as he takes a deep breath, holding in the air as he calmly collected his thoughts before exhaling the withheld breath. First was his body training, The Lightning God Technique that had been handed down to the Yu family that allowed their footwork to be on par with the Shin's. The Shin was currently the head of the sect who were known for their amazing maneuverability as well as their durability as their cultivation was the Armadil Permanence, a powerful technique that made the users challenge their body through all sort of unorthodox ways but where the Sin lacked power the Yu didn't. He was told a story where his father took a 3 silver star beast down with a single blow, it was something that Lin had strived to achieve as a young boy but that dream has long since been ground to dust. He sighed as he slowly began to mimic the Thunder God March, memorizing it from a family tome he read. His steps were precise, quick and powerful as he moved across the small clearing with ease, his eyes closed as he allowed his body to work. Soon he opened his eyes, seeing the patted down grass where his feet had stamped down the grass. He smiled as he knew that he mastered the steps but it didn't really matter as it didn't consume his spirit energy unless he went walking on water or climbing on trees.

With a sigh he slowly began to disrobe, throwing off his shirt and shoes as he tossed it beside the rock. He soon followed his clothing as he took a seat on the rock, slowly getting into the lotus position though it really didn't matter how he sat, as long as he was comfortable he could properly refine his core. Slowly he transitioned from his sporadic and normal breathing to a much more controlled, the outside world fading from his senses as he concentrated on himself. In hand with the Lightning God's March and strike was a cultivation of the soul, allowing for the Yu family whos soul property was lightning to take bloom at a staggering and efficient rate. All that was born into the Yu family were known to have the nature of lightning so each child was taught this at the age of five so they could begin to grow and Yu was different.

As he entered this mind state he found himself in an abyss that lacked all color, shape and form but all Yu knew was that it was indefinite in size. He began to gather energy, condensing it in this space as each minuscule amount he could bring forth took form in front of him. It was interesting to see this take place a transparent outline began to take form in front of him. He didn't think he was bad looking, a little frail but never the less a normal kid. His Black hair was slowly greying due to genetics, it was currently a little longer than he would like and a bit thick as he shook his head a bit. He was getting off track as he looked over his five-ten form as a small bead of energy sat in the middle of his sternum. this was frustrating as he didn't see any out branching points to further expand his soul to and the amount that he had within him was nowhere large enough to take him out of his current level towards the next. He couldn't make a breakthrough without seriously hurting himself and possibly crippling his advancing to any other levels. ith an exasperated sigh he began to wade through the emptiness before him, searching for more, searching for his next breakthrough. Time slipped through his grasp as if he was trying to collect water in a bucket with many holes in it, it became translucent when he was suddenly propelled back into reality as pain spread through him like electricity. Everything was blurry, the forest nothing more than a fuzzy painting as red began to wash over his left eye. Pain throbbed on his head as he made sense of everything, his vision clearing up quickly as he blinked, a stout and round boy around his age stood before him with a rather large grin and a tree branch in his right had to match. It had blood on it as Lin groaned and placed a hand on his head. He felt something warm and sticky coat his hand as he did, slowly the realization coming to him that he was attacked came to him as he struggled to get to his feet. He scurried to get up but was stopped as a large and powerful foot was placed square in his chest and forced him to stay on the ground.

"If it isn't the failure of the Yu family! Out here trying to cultivate your worthless soul once more to try and prove something? Tch, of course you are. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I have to stomp your ass into the dirt and bash it into your head over and over again with facts but here your pathetic self is trying to make a point. I'll spare you a full beating this time, I know what today is and after it I won't have to hear your name or see those stupid green eyes of yours again" The rather bold and blunt voice spilled from the male as he tossed the branch of his shoulder, his grey eyes staring down at Lin as Lin's own dull jade met the male's. This was Roy Shin, apart of the head house and Lin's bully who beat him daily and pounded words of hate and abuse into him, a reminder of how weak he was and what he was to suffer through.

Slowly he moved his foot away and cleared his throat and sinuses, hocking a wad of spit and mucus onto Lin's face as he bellowed and began to walk away. Just another day it seemed as Lin wiped off the insult, steering it a bit as he did causing him to wipe his olive skin once more. Weakly Lin arose, looking up at the sky to see that the sun had disappeared beneath the canopy of the trees. Lin cursed at the realization of time. He had spent way too long cultivating and was going to be late, even if he didn't want the coming events to transpire he had no choice as he stuck his head into the pool of water, washing his hair and eye of blood before pulling up from it and throwing his clothes on. The ceremony was about to take place and his fate was to be sealed, a frown began to form on Lin's face as a deep-seated dread blossomed inside of him, everything was going to change for the worse as he began to make haste towards his family home, fate had made itself evident and time was no longer an option. After today his life as a cultivator would end.
