The Basics and More

Ouro sat in this empty space before the door in confusion as he looked down at the window with a gawking stare as he tried to put his hand through the screen. His hand went through rather quickly, the screen rippling like water but feeling like air as he pulled his hand away slowly before he read over the information again. The window closed out and a feminine echoed in his head a bit,

"Tutorial; The system is a parasitic artifact that is classified in this world as an indefinite. There have been other users of the system but due to the nature of this artifact, they have not been able to use the system to its fullest ability due to low comparability. Yours, however, is the highest encountered ever, ninety-eight percent. I am excited to interact with you which has been something recently thought impossible though a welcomed surprise! My name is Fate and I am your system, I am glad to meet you Ouro!"

From his left hand, the liquid of the orb began to creep out as suddenly it formed into a coin-sized ball formed. It took on the appearance of the orb's original form as he watched in disbelief. As it formed he looked it up and down before another window popped up.

"Quest; Due to the users past they are unable to perform (*^&#^&, in order to ale this problem the user must gain points. To gain points at the current state user must perform mundane tasks and will be awarded points based on proficiency, quality and amount. Quests will also be provided to help user advance, the first two will be given. Gain a thousand points, learn a weapon"

Ouro was being overwhelmed as he looked to the floating sphere that slowly floated towards him and begins to project the feminine voice.

"To put the quests simply, Gain a thousand points so you can unseal this gate. Each quest has rewards most of the time but they also have penalties if you fail them. There is the possibility that some have a time restraint after all sometimes some trigger due to events."

He listens as he takes a deep breath and sighs, this was a lot to take in as he looks at the small coin. It levitated in the middle of his vision before it quickly shifted into an exclamation mark.

"Oh no, looks like our time is up. I recommend doing the quests and work as hard as possible, find a weapon, and be on guard. If people find out you have me then they'll be after you to get their hands on my power!"

Suddenly everything changed as the light-flooded in, the waking world interrupting his odd and weird dream. Maybe it was a sign that he should be wary after taking that orb as he stumbled out of bed and felt the aftereffect of the Baijiu as he took a deep breath, it was time to get a jump on the day. He headed to Chang's tent, no one was inside it other than a still sleeping Chang who was a mess from the night before.

Ouro let out a chuckle as he left the tent as his workload had been undecided and in the meantime, he decided that picking out what weapon would be best to fend off from attackers. He walked towards the laid out weapons rack that the slavers used. He browsed over the variety. Swords, daggers, bows, slings, and whips, each only had one new or maintained weapon as different scenarios. A sword and the dagger were cut and dry, close combat, and really only useful if he could use it unparallel which he lacked training in the weapon. Many people used those weapons and were common but what was more common besides the cliche was the different styles that people used. He sighed as he looked at the bow and immediately crossed it off his list. He lacked the training to properly pull back the string, aim, and the fact that they used ammo that he didn't feel like toating around. He skipped the sling, too simple, and wouldn't be useful. He then got to the whip and tilted his head, it was something common around slavers as they used it to put the slaves in place but its combat efficiency wouldn't be implausible as it gave him extra reach, had many uses and no one would expect it to be used. He placed his hand on it as a purple pulse ran over the whip to his surprise and Fate rang in his ear,

"Whip was chosen as the weapon for the user! Lessons will be made to make user combat efficient as well as a grade F style will be taught. Quest complete, find a weapon has been fulfilled; the rewards are random grade F style, 100 system points have been awarded and no more quests will be given until the gate is unsealed." He was shocked as a window saying the same thing had popped up in front of him, it wasn't a dream and it was all real. He blinked a few times as he stowed the whip, wrapping it around his waist like a belt under his clothes, this should be enough for now. As he finished a slaver soon came by and bowed,

"Mr.Chang wishes to see you, take care of looking at those weapons. They are not toys for you to play with boy now come." This one wasn't new but hearing him speak was. He was usually speaking the gibberish that the rest spoke but he was almost flawless with his pronunciation. Ouro followed behind the man with silence as he observed, his face looked to be that of a mid-twenty-year-old man, his physique was there and he seemed smart enough to learn a different language. Ouro made a mental note to befriend the man as he slipped into Chang's tent to see the man lightly sipping tea and nursing the hangover.

"I seemed to have taken myself a little too far with the drinking. I apologize and wanted to thank you for keeping me company, not to mention putting me in bed. However, due to my state, I am taking the day off and have to ask more from you than normal. If you're as smart as I think you to be then all the papers on my desk shouldn't be a problem for you, after you finish the day is yours. I am leaving Hershad with you. He might be able to help if you ask him kindly enough" Change rubbed his temples before finishing his tea and slipping back off to bed. Ouro sat down at Chang's desk as he began to start his work, not stopping through the day as he even skipped lunch. As dusk began to set in he had finished, sighing as he looked at the allotted paperwork was finished.

He yawned as he stumbled off to bed, rubbing his pounding head gently as it throbbed. Everything had been a bit busy through the day and stressful on him, he hardly noticed hitting his cot as he found himself in front of that gate once again, the small coin of fate sat waiting for him.

"Would you like a summary of today's finished tasks, quests, and how many points were earned?"
