Chapter Fifty

When Ling Da Chuanli surfaced from the well the faces of everyone were filled with both disbelief and awe. Those who knew the riddle of the array even took a few steps back respectfully from the young man understanding more than they let on looking at their sect master discreetly spilt on what to do next. Intentionally treating Ling Da Chuanli with a more sincere attitude and averting their gazes from the pale woman lying in his arms unconscious. Feng Shuchang who had gotten the news that Ling Da Chuanli actually entered the waters to retrieve Chao Bai stood at the door of the trial room peering at the young man with even more obvious shock. It was evident to everyone who knew Feng Shuchang well and whoever dared to sneak a peek at his expression. That their sect master had never expected this outcome. Even growing a few shades paler when he noticed Minglan's precious student's outer robe was wrapped around Chao Bai.

Nearly reeling back, Feng Shuchang tried his best to cover up his real reaction when he noticed some of the members of the sect turning to cautiously seek his leadership in such an odd situation. Only when he felt their gaze land on himself did he recover, firmly and somewhat urgently grabbing his also surprised but more relieved older sister by the elbow. Whispering quickly "Go retrieve Chao Bai, now!" Although confused by his harsh tone, Feng Mei Xing moved forward to take Chao Bai as he ordered in a hurry. Even lifting her skirt as she practically ran to the soaked two's side. Not caring if she would succeed or not Feng Shuchang pinched his equally baffled disciple to wake up as he revealed an unconcerned expression much different from how he was feeling internally.

Smiling with false relief Feng Shuchang deliberately spoke louder so everyone could hear "As expected of sir Wang's inner disciple! It's a relief that you managed to stop Chao Bai's descent into the abyss before she could reach the bottom endangering herself further. I, the sect master of Zenith Star owe the young master a life debt for saving our sect's benefactor selflessly." All at once the eyes of everyone there, Zenith Star Sect members, widened before being forcefully nudged by the more intelligent people. Jiang Tengyi was more sincere snapping his head to look over at his master with a bewildered expression. All at once, everything became clear.

Feng Shuchang had never had any real intention of letting Ling Da Chuanli become engaged with Chao Bai. Still, he continued his solo act under the gazes of his most beloved family and sect members with a smile "If Chao Bai had reached the bottom of the sea it'd be a miracle if she could have escaped unscathed without young master Ling's intervention." The trial is void. Chao Bai never reached the bottom of the well so this did not count. Everything here, forget it, it was all nonbinding and for nothing. Chao Bai is still their most respected guest and will stay unaffiliated with the young master of the Azure sect. "Naturally, everyone personally saw Lady Chao Bai unhesitatingly enter the well with their own eyes and accepted by the array meaning the array has already accepted her as a member of our sect. There should be no more qualms about whether she belongs with us or not if even our ancestors have accepted her presence."

Jiang Tengyi wanted to speak but found his voice would not follow his order and peered up at his purposely ignorant master with even more betrayal and disbelief. All of the Zenith Star cultivators lowered their heads under the silent pressure of Feng Shuchang. But deep in their hearts, they all knew it was mere nonsense. Chao Bai had spent more than half a box of incense within the well and most definitely had reached the bottom with her level of cultivation no matter how weak her body was. Feng Shuchang's wishes and actions. Though they couldn't understand and more than knew everything he was saying were lies to bluff an outsider. Who would face the wraith of their sect master and voice it out loud foolishly?

Didn't they see the sect master discreetly pinching the pressure point of even his beloved disciple to conceal the matter? Jiang Tengyi looked over to Da Chuanli who had yet to say a word, his arms still wrapped securely around his junior sister refusing the soft hints of Feng Mei Xing to take her back. His friend met his worried expression without flinching, but Jiang Tengyi did flinch back out of guilt for his master's shamelessness. He had doubted Da Chuanli, even warned him and fought with him a bit ago for his actions. Even blaming him for his junior sister's actions of entering the array, but Ling Da Chuanli actually, he was actually sincere towards his junior sister.

No matter how baffling it was, the array's results never lied. A person without feelings or sincerity towards their sect person would never have been able to reach the bottom unharmed. Meaning Ling Da Chuanli more than proved all his arrogance and promises were real, even if he himself didn't truly know this yet the array had eyes to see beyond the flesh and bone. "..." He grit his teeth and against his master's wishes pulled at Feng Shuchang's arm daringly in front of everyone shaking their hearts out of guilt for this righteous young man. "Return the Jiang Tengyi to his room until further notice. This matter will remain here, never to leave this room."

Master!! Ignoring his disciple's silent outrage Feng Shuchang let him be dragged away by force, the men carrying and suppressing their young future patriarch murmur under their breaths apologies, stiffly dragging him out. Feng Mei Xing, how could she not understand her younger sibling's mind after all he said? Her eyes move from the cold faced Da Chuanli to her younger sibling's smiling façade and a hint of sorrow and hesitancy entered her gaze. Yet when they land upon the pale Chao Bai, her heart solidified and she reached out subtly without Da Chuanli being able to react in time. "Young master Ling, thank you for saving Chao Bai. I'm sorry..." Da Chuanli's pupils retract and before he knew it a shadow snatches his wrist and twists them behind his back with incredible speed and strength. Forcing the delicate pallid girl in his arms to drop to the floor alarming everyone into taking steps forward to catch her.

Only Feng Shuchang remained calm as his elder sister's shadow then very gently caught the dropping fragile girl leaving her completely unharmed. Bringing her to the two siblings sides unharmed but this time encased very carefully within that shadow replica of the Madam's embrace. Feng Mei Xing wore a sad expression but her actions were unhesitant and unyielding even when dealing with Da Chuanli who brought Chao Bai back to them. "Sect master Feng, what is the meaning of your actions?" Da Chuanli finally spoke with the same cold and collected expression he had on the entire time. He didn't panic as he knew they wouldn't harm him, but it did hurt his self esteem to be caught off guard so easily showing just how formidable the Zenith Star sect's leaders truly were.

Feng Shuchang didn't talk to the junior, silently dismissing everyone when a simple dressed woman enters the hall hurriedly with a rigid expression. Her gaze never wavering from Chao Bai even once, seemingly not caring about anything but the sickly girl in the Feng sibling's care. "How cruel is this method? Couldn't clubbing the heads of those who complain have done the same thing?" Though she spoke harshly the siblings didn't mind. Feng Mei Xing seemingly agreeing with the newcomers words also sent a reproaching look at Feng Shuchang. The sect master hid his sigh, gazing down at Chao Bai guiltily "How can it be the same? Would her pride have allowed it? I just forced her to make a choice, and she happened to pick the same path I first assumed she would take. In the middle of war, can this little girl still tolerate their sneers and doubts? Doesn't slapping the face of the doubters this way feel more satisfying? Now, no matter what she does the doubt of her betrayal would be stronger than doubts of her loyalty to the sect."

Feng Shuchang smiled bitterly "Who would have thought things went a little differently than planned." Saying this the two woman also stropped fretting over Chao Bai to look at the stone faced Da Chuanli still being restrained not far away. The easily irritable doctor strolled towards the glaring Da Chuanli to look him up and down thoughtfully, it seemed her impression of him wasn't that bad in comparison to others. "Say, being held down like this are you not afraid what we will do to you?" Da Chuanli seeing she didn't talk down to him on purpose smiles a hint ruefully. "As an outsider what should I know of your thoughts and plans? But with my master's backing I naturally fear no one." Her eyes hint at a smile when she was looking at him then.

"Then young master Ling, can you agree to a small alteration to your memory for me? Nothing harmful of course, but it's for the sake of the little girl over there that we change what happened here today. Since you care about her so much it's only natural you'll agree right?" "Who says I care for her? I merely couldn't live with myself if Lady Chao Bai was harmed because of my words and took action based on my own morals and belief." The doctor chortles hiding her tiny smile behind her hand eloquently "Your mouth and face agree yet your body says differently. As a doctor do you honestly think you could hide it or that I wouldn't notice it? Your dao, you placed a small crack on your core to bring her back to the surface didn't you?" Her eyes sparkle more when Da Chuanli's expression hardens due to her scarily accurate speculation.

"The Heartless Dao. What an ambitious and terrifying Dao to follow at such a young age, it's truly admirable." Because he couldn't resist, when the woman's hand was placed on his forehead although Da Chuanli tried to instinctively reject and move away. The shadows holding onto him grew stronger showing the might of the Feng sibling's strength, finally drawing out a trace of frustration on the young man's face. "Don't struggle too much, this is also for your own good as a person chasing such a dangerous and ferocious power." Da Chuanli did stop moving, however his eyes reveal the animosity in his heart for being under someone else's control. "My master will not let this go."

Feng Shuchang spoke up then, showing a trace of sincerity this time without a trace of regret on his face. "This time, I'm afraid that even your master will agree with us. After all, neither of us expected you to actually...Hah." He didn't hide his sigh. This kind of mess was never within either of their predictions. He could only pray that Wang Minglan would not blame Chao Bai for stealing his most prized disciple's mild heart. No matter how little it was, fondness of this level could easily turn into real love. Then, wouldn't Chao Bai really be a calamity bringing beauty as those people claimed? His beloved disciple who chased one of the most severe and powerful dao felt affection for a human skin donning spiritual beast and was willing to crack his core for her. Wang Minglan would skin them all alive.

As his chest was compressed with a strange sensation, and his mind became more and more clouded Da Chuanli's eyes fall unto the still asleep Chao Bai being carried away by Feng Mei Xing. Feng Shuchang blocks his view of the two's departure expressionlessly "When you eventually break the seal I placed on your memory, your future self who will most definitely have already fully cultivated in the ways of the Heartless Dao will thank us." Those words were spoken softly and a hint pitifully towards the clouded and muddled ears of the normally sharp Da Chuanli. "All previous cultivators of the Heartless Dao will also agree that love is less important. Rather than hurting her later. To protect both of you, that bubble of fondness you have for her will never surface again."

Vision blurring, Da Chuanli was a hint confused by her meaning, before visions of a girl's cold back appear within the back of his mind. Her black hair loosely tied hung below her waist, light blue robes sweeping across the sect corridors he would know how to traverse even with his eyes closed. He doesn't know why, but seeing her walk away from him brought a sense of peace but also fear. Who was it again? His ears tickled lightly knowing she was saying something to him yet he couldn't recall what it was she had said. In her arms was a beautifully crafted guqin he felt was so familiar it made his chest hurt more, that unease and uncomfortable feeling in his gut grew as the smoke clouding his mind crawled towards this fateful memory much to his melancholy.

As if sensing his stare the girl slowly turns to look at him with her misty colored eyes stabbing his lungs. Wang Lan Biyu. A jolt shoots throughout his heart instinctively and more violently than before along with a burst of spiritual energy exploding form his body astonishing the two. "This-!!" Feng Mei Xing holding onto Chao Bao felt a chill roll down her spine and fearfully spun to guard against the entity behind her which sent her spiritual senses into a flurry of panic. "Shuchang!!" But with Chao Bai in her arms she didn't dare go closer even if she wanted to help her brother.

Feng Shuchang just barely managed to bring Ehuang behind him and the hurriedly casted artifact before they were blown away by force making him hold his breath with sweat dropping down his brow due to the close call. The violent winds had yet to cease over the slumped form of the young man frightening them as even the pillar of the building began to groan. "This, no matter whether it's like or fondness this level of rejection isn't normal for a mere few days worth of memories." Ehuang was pale, not believing she had been defied and overpowered so suddenly by a supposedly weakened junior. She was confident in her skills, although not too powerful in comparison to her companions who were able to fight on the front lines, her medical and spiritual comprehension was always the best.

Ehuang's mind began turning and calculating quickly on how to fix this mess as well as why he had reacted in such a violent manner. Feng Shuchang who was even more clueless worriedly peers at the slumped over Da Chuanli "Did you accidentally touch his spiritual bottom line?" "Violating the young master of the Azure sect is the last thing I would do." Ehuang not offended being asking about this tried reaching out a hand beyond the barrier again only for the ferocious wind to gather silver light to specifically harm her alarming the two of them even further. "What kind of heart demon does this seemingly perfect little young master of the Azure sect have hidden so deeply beneath that mask?" Feng Shuchang hearing her mutter this physically jerked back, confounded by her question before despair and a sudden complicated understanding filled his heart.

It can't be that, his guess back then was actually true? Before he could speak, almost like a finger pinching the flame of a candle the roar of the rampant spiritual energy quieted down completely. Their expression both tensed and became more worried as the sitting Da Chuanli began to sway to the side. "Ling Da Chuanli!"

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Feng Shuchang sighed softly to himself when the oppressive shadow sitting at the bedside of a unconscious Ling Da Chuanli came out from behind the paper curtain. Wang Minglan, contrary to his expectations was not angry, just tired looking when he took a seat across from him at the table. "...I apologize, sir Wang. I never expected that Chao Bai would-" Wang Minglan held up his hand to stop his apology. One could see just fatigued this seemingly unwavering celestial master was when he let down his guard. Seeming to age a couple of years since they last met face to face. Pouring himself a cup of warm water Minglan took a deep gulp as if it were wine before setting the cup down a hint loudly making Feng Shuchang purse his lips.

"This was as much my fault as was yours. You don't have to worry about me taking out my anger on an innocent." Being seen through Feng Shuchang showed not an ounce of shame even letting out a breath of relief making Minglan send him a fleeting glance. Minglan also felt a bit confused and worried about his troublesome disciple, rubbing his face as he began thinking to himself privately. It was a long moment of silence between the two tired sect masters before Minglan began somewhat rigidly. "You say his spiritual sea retaliated violently when you tried to alter his memories of the array? And he has been unconscious since then?"

Feng Shuchang grimaces to himself "If it was not due to the secret of our predecessor's array and Chao Bai's special circumstances I also wouldn't want to do it. Who expected the seemingly unattached disciple of yours would actually follow through for a young woman he had just met a few days ago?" Minglan also felt it was odd, much too odd. For he knew his disciple's personality better than anyone else, risking his life is different than putting in a bit more of an effort to help a stranger. If it were his elder brother Minglan could see Da Chuanli risking his life to save him but a mere stranger? No matter how beautiful or virtuous, his disciple was no fool who would grovel before physical appearances.

Especially given his origins. So there must be something strange about the girl herself. Something that would trigger even his seemingly high in the clouds foolish little disciple. Even if Feng Shuchang mentioned her once or twice, with how busy with managing the sect as he was rooting out troublesome rats. How could he mind or keep the other man's words in his heart about some little girl he never met nor seen? Troubled Minglan habitually flicks open his fan to tap against his arm lost in thought. Feng Shuchang as distracted and worried as he was couldn't help noticing the surprisingly exquisite fan in the man's hands. Minglan never wore anything vibrant or expensive on his person since the death of his daughter.

But this fan, it contrasted his simple apparel, a single oblique snake was slithering along the handle. The scales and body entrancedly decorated and astonishingly realistic, it's eyes were closed as if just taking a long nap in the handsome man's hands. Curious but also not daring to scry the object Feng Shuchang ripped his eyes off the fan when he received a missive from his communication jade. Without caring that Minglan was in the room Feng Shuchang smoothly tore the jade off his person and inserts a small amount of spiritual energy into it letting traces of spiritual energy float into characters before his eyes. Minglan could only catch a few letters before they dissipate, along with it the anxiety in Feng Shuchang countenance.

The man seemed less tense than before, letting Minglan take a guess. "Your niece is awake?" Feng Shuchang's expression distorts when the word niece came out of his mouth reminding him of Lady Yin. However he still reluctantly hums in agreement as he had no other title he could give to Minglan besides this. "Mmn. Ehuang is tending to her now, luckily lulling her back from her hibernating state wasn't difficult." Considerate of the other man's worries Minglan offered to let him go see his niece while he waited here with Da Chuanli alone. But Feng Shuchang didn't hesitate to reject his offer speaking sincerely "I am also responsible for your disciple's current state, it's only fair I stay here till he awakens. Additionally I am not needed over there urgently, she still has my elder sister."

However saying so, Feng Shuchang still called someone in and specially had them hand over a memory jade he had bought awhile ago to Chao Bai. Hoping the grievances in her heart were lifted somewhat if she could listen to some songs. "Memory jade? Does she have a literary heart?" Asking out of mild curiosity and courtesy, Minglan didn't expect Feng Shuchang's expression to become a bit helpless when answering. But behind that helplessness was something that was more than familiar to him. Feng Shuchang actually cares for that little girl quite a bit? Feeling complicated in his heart and stifled he took another sip of water wishing bitterly that it was tea.

"Not poems or stories but songs. Nothing interests her much besides this, so what is a little money when they can bring a smile to her face? She is truly pitiful, as her health deteriorates she's unable to do anything too physically exerting and is mostly sick throughout the year." Minglan frowns, disapproving of Feng Shuchang suddenly "She is this ill yet you asked me to help you force her into a corner?" Being turned into a bad guy naturally he knew people would hate him for scheming like this but he also spread his arms showing he had no choice. "You also know that beating obedience into others tends to fan the flames more than put them out. With her sudden appearance and favoritism from both my elder sister and Jiang Tengyi she was bound to be hated secretly and plotted against." Speaking seriously Feng Shuchang's gaze narrows as a hint of gloom enters his expression.

"I will not allow nor tolerate any future problems to arise for our cause. My sect must remain united, any turmoil rearing it's head will be eliminated before it shows itself." Minglan scoffs at him "Then a simple engagement between your little disciple would have silenced their cries, why harm others?" The other man fell silent before shaking his head even more solemnly, his eyes holding regret. "My disciple is, too serious. Her personality is also too cold and will break his heart in the future. Plus her health is...truly not well." Unable to say the reason nor their intentions for her Feng Shuchang could only explain like this displeasing Minglan. "What good does raising a vase do for a sect?" Feng Shuchang purses his lips and just shook his head, as the less people who knew the reason they raised this seemingly useless girl the better.

And Minglan was different from Da Chuanli. Whether Chao Bai voiced her willingness and intentions to use her cultivation to break the barrier down or not he would only disagree and hate the Zenith Star for indulging her idea. Da Chuanli wasn't supposed to care about a strangers intentions for quicker death unlike his kind master. "This type of weak girl caught his eye?" Minglan flicks open his snake fan to sneer behind it, showing a hint of the dominating and lively demeaner from the past. Chao Bai being cursed as a weak little girl made Feng Shuchang's eye twitch however he didn't dare contradict or correct the tyrant. Instead he spoke up for her soothingly "Although she's delicate, her virtue is good and her innate personality is gentle and caring. Chao Bai's spiritual roots are also incredibly pure just like her. A child like that no matter the trouble is worthy of a little bit more care from others."

As Minglan had the snake raised away from him, he didn't see the little snake actually shiver and open her eyes right in the middle of his words startling Feng Shuchang. "-?!" Before he could speak Minglan actually closed the fan and set it down on the table impatiently. "Alright, what are you a doting father? I merely stated a fact and you defend her by spelling out all her good points. Is this a marriage interview and you see me as a disapproving mother-in-law?" Speechless Feng Shuchang could only bit his tongue. Sir Wang you really do seem like mother-in-law right now, seeing fault with a good child like our Chao Bai even though your disciple is also somewhat at fault for catching feelings where he shouldn't disappointing and worrying everyone.

Do you think I actually wanted to marry a good girl off to a quicker doom towards that heartless dao chasing disciple of yours for real? A bit aggravated for their looked down upon Chao Bai, Feng Shuchang swallowed his disagreement and smiled at Minglan with difficultly. "Naturally not. Our Chao Bai isn't worthy of the young master of your Azure sect." Your disciple is talented but he's even less worthy of a admirable and selfless child like Chao Bai too. Padded jackets are warmer after all. Once more, the little snake visible shutters, before stealthily trying to detach and run away somewhere. Minglan who Feng Shuchang was about to remind actually caught the little snake, Feng Shuchang watched with curiosity as he scolds the writhing animal.

Despite his expression being a hint off seeing the struggle of the little stone snake, Minglan was somewhat disturbed but tried to act as if the snake moving was a normal occurrence. "What's wrong with you? Hungry?" Trying not to let his voice shake in the presence of Feng Shuchang as the struggling snake suddenly came to life after all this time. Since Xiao Biyu's funeral this little thing had never moved again, why now? Caught in her owner's master's grasp Chi actually continued to fight and did something she had never done before even when settling on top of her owner's grave. Her tiny mouth opens to exposed brilliantly white fangs and, with an agitated hiss she bit the hand holding her alarming both men. "Sir Wang?!" Feng Shuchang stood up about to call the doctor before Minglan waved his concern away "She is not venomous, settle down for a moment."

He hesitates but seeing as Minglan was unbothered he uneasily sat down keeping his eyes on the snake still viciously chomping down on the back of Minglan's hand. No matter how many waves occurred in his heart, Minglan remained calm on the surface and raised a trembling finger to rub the top of Chi's head making the white snake's eyes roll backwards yet she didn't let go. A tiny trail of blood drips from the back of his hand down her mouth as he murmurs softly "What's gotten into you?" But obviously the selfish little thing would never tell him, nor could she. "Let me call the doctor after all Sir Wang, even if she's not venomous yours hand is still injured." Minglan dismisses his concern again "No need, a wound like this is nothing."

"Still-" As Feng Shuchang was about to insist the little snake seemed to grow a conscience and released the patient Nascent Soul cultivator and began retching. Feng Shuchang fell silent, as Minglan's eyes narrow and all the air in his lungs seemed to grow stagnant with more notable waves in his spiritual sea. Ill? Can a spiritual weapon become ill? From the little snake's mouth, instead of vomit or blood though, a bright and familiar glowing orb is spat out. Minglan's pupils shrank and his entire body began trembling silently. One, two, three, four, beast cores. One by one as if trying to empty her entire stomach the little snake spit out core after core, from minor spiritual cores to tier six and sevens onto the floor. *plop*plop*plop One after another, his daughter's legacy, her belongings which he thought were lost to the spacial ring that had gone missing along with the rest of her body into the stomach of that wretched animal who took her life.

Minglan stared in an unblinking daze as the little snake continued spitting our beast cores and previous materials collected from his daughter's years alive. When close to a few hundred cores were spit out along with claws and scales of various beasts that were considered rather valuable were thrown up and she was still not released. The little snake wiggled once more and this time her mouth stretched wider worrying the two. A different gleam was revealed from her mouth, fearing she would choke Minglan reached in and helped her remove the strange object from her esophagus. When the last of her possessions left to her by her owner were given the little snake stared up at the powerful swordmaster. Appearing weak and pitiful as if asking if this was enough for him to let her go.

However, much to Chi's distress the man ignored her pitiful look and froze up when he brought the object in his hand to the light. *CRACK! The sudden cracking sound made Feng Shuchang come out of his daze as he hurriedly leans over to ask Minglan if he was alright. "Sir Wang are you alright? What is it?" Minglan's face completely distorted like a broken mirror frightening Feng Shuchang. The Nascent Soul cultivator at the peak of his mountain was furious. A shiver throughout the entire castle was shared as those weaker fell to their knees choking and gasping for air. Alarm bells all over the sect were rung, people desperately shouting and trying to find the source of danger. Chao Bai, in the farthest corner of the sect snaps her head up from her bed, eyes flickering with all different types of emotions.

Feng Shuchang, the closest to Minglan had long fallen to his knees choking on both saliva and blood as his insides practically twist up in the furious man's presence. Just when he thought it was all over and he was near to fainting. Feng Shuchang gasped for air when it was finally allowed back into his lungs. Coughing violently under the suddenly terrifying and indifferent Minglan who had managed to endure once more and push down his boiling rage. The man closes his eyes, seeming to enter a state of meditation. "You say, what gave you the courage and proof that it was the Golden Cloud sect who slaughtered your people?"

Frightened but also confused by his question Feng Shuchang blurts out in a croak as clearly and honestly as he could "T-The men who*coughcough!!- who hunted my people down were-they had a sigil on them from the previous dynasty before the Golden clou*cough cloud was formed. Only descendants of the previous family and their subordinates carry such a object..." Gasping for air, Feng Shuchang who was struggling to breath and recover couldn't see the sorrow and fury which flickered in the eyes of the cultivator who lost his daughter in a place he couldn't see. Trying to remain calm, Minglan tossed the cracked jade in his hands to Feng Shuchang asking coldly without needing to really know the answer. As the evidence itself had already proven his daughter's demise had indeed, been planned from the beginning to end. And in such a vicious way.

*clink! "Is this the sigil you speak of? Double horned lizard?" Feng Shuchang, who heard this tenses up bringing his gaze upon the jade thrown in front of him. Before he even said anything the tension, disbelief, and surprise in his eyes answered all of Minglan's suspicions and he closed his eyes again to try and calm his raging spirit down. "A fool." No one knew who he meant to say this to. For the man only murmured it softly, before meditating in silence his hands on the still struggling little snake loosening up for her to wriggle away who knows where. No matter where it went Minglan knew where it would return. His Xiao Biyu's remains were still with him at the sect. And just like him, the little snake could never let go of the memories and the last piece of her on this plane no matter how far she went.
