Chapter 48

Crystal felt herself being shaken awake and once she was awake she found herself staring at a group of people. Crystal noticed her team was tied up and looked at the group she realised she was in trouble.

"Who are you?" the elder asked. Crystal was still waking up and trying to gain her strength when she looked at Forest who was looking at her. She wondered if it was a good idea to talk at all and decided to keep quiet.

The men tied her up and threw her in jail. They didn't bring her any food and the water wasn't clean at all but she chose to keep quiet. Crystal realised her gear was gone and found herself thinking of the information that she read but what shocked her, even more, was that humans thought it was okay to bond to an ancient dragon.

"Ellen what am I supposed to do when no one believes me, how can I lead if a jail is the only place they believe I belong, I am sorry I couldn't protect anyone Ellen," Crystal whispered aa s she closed her eyes and she soon found herself fast asleep.

She didn't wake up, even when the men came to bring her food and of course no one understood what the problem was. The men tried to wake her with water but that didn't wake her up and soon they would realise she had a fever.

The villagers thought that Crystal was ill with a virus and so she and her team were moved far from them and they hoped that whatever she had they would not get it. Then one day another group arrived but they were advised against the group making contact with Crystal for she was sick and they feared the group will get sick two.

The shock came when one of the men from the group recognized Crystal and realised what the problem was. "She overused her powers again," he said as he made Crystal the medicine she desperately needs.

Crystal woke up a few days after everything happened in a different location. She could hear Nylla growling and realised someone was picking a fight with the wrong dragon. She tried to get up but someone stopped her. "Carefull child you need to rest," the voice said.

Crystal felt herself falling all asleep all over again but not before she spoke in her mind to Nylla. "I am okay but try not to pick fights, let them help me," Crystal told Nylla. Nylla got up in a second and realised her rider had heard her temper.

"Nylla what's wrong?" Forest asked from inside his cage. "It's Crystal, she awoke but she's very weak," Nylla said. Forest looked towards the building they knew Crystal was in and said, "all the year's hard work finally caught up with her, no person should ever be asked to work that hard for any reason," Forest said and lowered his head to the ground.

Crystal woke up the next morning and found that she wasn't so exhausted as before. She looked around the room and realised she wasn't in a jail cell anymore. She sat up on the bed and touched her head but she didn't have the strength to get up and check on her team.

Then she saw a certain elve elder from Avigalla and suddenly she wished she was still asleep. "I did warn you no to use your power until you were trained," he said. "Yes, you did but you weren't trying to stay alive against a certain ancient dragon who now has a rider," Crystal said.

The elve sat down and asked Crystal all kinds of questions and she did her best to answer them. "It's not like I came here looking for trouble I was chased here and when you have an angry ancient dragon on your tail you don't really stop to look around," Crystal replied.

"You were at the temple of knowledge, why?" he asked. Crystal looked at him and said, "Nylla had crystal sickness, I needed to get information on what it is and how to cure the sickness and where to find the cure," Crystal answered.

"I see so you happen to find the place and took advantage of the situation," the elve elder asked. Crystal looked at the elder and said, "no someone took me there, I asked him to take me but he was gone when your team approached me and just when I started to think I have a friend for life," Crystal said.

"Should we be worried about him breaking you out?" Crystal thought about it for a while and said, "No me no but Nylla maybe," Crystal said. "Why her?" he asked. "She is his mate," Crystal said. The man looked at Crystal in shock and asked, "You're talking about Prince Leon then?"

Crystal looked at the elder and said, "yes, he was helping me make sense of things but one thing I can tell you is that the ancient rainbow dragon will soon die, and so will many other ancient dragons. That is the price they pay for bonding to a human, my opponent said that I was keeping all the power to my self but they don't understand the destruction that comes with bonding to an ancient dragon and a price will be paid that's what I believe." Crystal said.

"Who told you this?" the elve elder asked. "who do you think? Ellen warned me Jett will die soon" but once Crystal said those words the elve was shocked.

Crystal took a deep breath and said, "They can't be freed from the bond it's permanent when one ancient dies another takes there place and it's our job to make sure they are save until they are strong enough to protect them selfs but ancient dragons can never again bond to a human."

The elder elve left the room and Crystal laid back down to rest. Ellen's words were still fresh in her mind and there are many things she doesn't understand. What if Mira was right that this all is just a misunderstanding. She too believes that its all a misunderstanding but what does Eione has to do with everything.

"I don't get it first it was the Eione and the red beryl and now its the ancient dragons. The next generation needs to be kept save but how is a big problem," Crystal said. The elve came back and with him was Mira, Crystal smiled at Mira and said, "getting me to bond with Starmist was the best decision you ever made," Crystal said.

Mira walked over to Crystal not saying anything and asked, "did you really speak to Ellen?" she asked. Crystal took a deep breath and said, "It was more like a dream but what she said makes sense to me but I am afraid I already failed her," Crystal said.

"The mother of those two dragons would not go to an area where there is danger, she is here Crystal," Mira said. Crystal jumped up from the bed and said, "I those two are ever found they will be forced to bond to humans we can't let that happen, I promised Ellen I will keep them save," Crystal said.

"They are save Crystal but what about you, how are you doing since you left," Mira asked. Crystal told the elders what she has been up to and how she ended up in the valley and Prince Leon. "I just wish he told me he was leaving, I am so giving him a piece of my mind when I see him next time," Crystal said.

Mira had many questions and Crystal tried her best to answer most of them but the one question on why she was there seemed to be one the elders didn't believe when she told them Nylla was sick. "Prince Leon saw her injuries himself he can confirm I am telling the truth," Crystal replied.

The elders were having a hard time believing Crystal but they gave her the benefit of the dought. Later that day Crystal went to see her team and to check on Nylla. "How are you feeling Nylla?" Crystal asked. "I am better Crystal but I think you should know Furry is close by," Nylla said.

"Tell that ass the next time they leave at least tell me I thought they were dead," Crystal said. Nylla communicated with Furry and told him what Crystal had said and also added that it better not happen again they did enjoy being locked up and injured after fighting the ancient rainbow dragon again.

Furry didn't answer Nylla and in the morning Crystal found Nylla wasn't herself at all. At first, she didn't understand what going on and then she noticed she had her gear with her again. She took out the book on crystal dragons and kept reading up on the nature of these dragons.

She was trying to figure out what was wrong with Nylla but it was becoming more of a headache than a solution. "Crystal where did you find that book?" the elve asked. "I'll give the book back but first help be figure out what is wrong with Nylla," Crystal said worriedly.

Crystal checked Nylla over and noticed there was another dragon on the ground. She checked Forest and Rose and noticed they have still locked in there cages. Crystal walked around Nylla trying to figure out what had happened but was puzzled.

"There was another dragon here last night, are all the dragons locked up at night or is it just us?" Crystal asked the elders. "No, it's only yours not everyone trusts them yet," Mira said.
