02 ~ A Cycle Unbroken

As time continued to pass by below, the ball of light remained in its dossal and dormant state, the changes to the sphere continued on as they always had. The beings it had dubbed sphere alters continued their alterations to the sphere at a pace that only got faster, with time the sphere began to look drastically different.

They had learned methods to cross great expanses previously never done before by those beings that shared at least someone common characteristics with them. They had created another anomaly, that if the ball of light was watching it would ever be confused by if it saw this.

They had now expanded to nearly every corner of the sphere, with no area left unseen on the surface.

The ball of light was not left unchanged either, gone were its former two unique shades of light. It no longer appeared to have the features of an ever-present aurora wrapped around it. Its translucence had vanished, and it appeared now more solid or fluid rather, the gray and white lights had mixed together, resulting in many marbled shades from black to white appearing upon its surface. Though one would never be able to quite tell what exactly any one shade was, it was clear something within it had changed.

With time it began to regain its former activity, only now the ball of light began to have bumps, waves, ripples, and eventually different three dimensional patterns appeared along its surface.

I....or.....the ball of light had finally awoken.

Something was defiantly different, this time the ball of light began to move after a slumber unknown time period. But where has...or...had its favorite sphere gone? Clearly agitated, the ball of light began to frantically shake, ripples and shapes appeared across its surface rapidly, unaware of anything different to itself as it searched around, sending waves of light out in a frantic manner far further than it ever could before the ball of light eventually paused and became still for a moment.

Suddenly a wave far stronger and larger with all its effort was sent out so that it might see where its blue and green sphere might have gone. For a long time it was left to see nothing, the ball of light surface stayed completely still, unmoving, and for the first time it felt what I would later learn to be the cold wave of fear washing over it.

Suddenly bursting forth reacting to this new-found sensation, the ball of light let out a blast of light so bright, so clear, and so fast that it was gone from a relative view in a moment. But the light was moving, searching with the intent imbued into it hoping that it would see its sphere of green and blue comfort once again.

Seemingly drained, the ball of light flicked but every moment it seemed as though the light would fade it would flicker and release a little more radiance holding onto one wish.

At a trice its light began to return carrying with it vigor not seen previously, the ball of light hungrily pulled it in. In the far-away distance it saw now a glowing light of some kind, excited regaining just a bit more vigor, it began to heave itself in that direction, but then suddenly more and more of its own light began to return with a different glint of color in each.

All the light was pulled in with extreme haste, but what it saw caused it's very core to convulse, the entirety of its surroundings began to light up in one spot after the other.

That was the first time it saw the stars.

Frozen, visibly excited, but also terrified, the ball of light failed to even notice that it was now shining with an iridescence never before sheen to it, mixed in with it's marbled gray and white pattern.

Not sure which direction to move in now, but it remained sanguine in hope for its small sphere of beautiful blues to appear before it like all the others it could now see.

After a while the ball of light had not found its home, it blindly moved in a direction to release bursts of light as it went. More of its view began to be filled with vibrant colors, yet none were what the ball of light wanted to see. It continued moving from place to place, mapping its surroundings.

It began to notice that some of the stars it saw were following it, panicked it began to move in the opposite direction of them, with time it began to slow down, more stars were coming closer to it the further it went, eventually noticing one in front of it that it had already seen before, it started to move against this flow of stars.

Moving in this direction for a while the stars where new one after the other but with time it began to see the same stars again moving in a way it hadn't before it reached a space where there were no more stars. Heading back to the stars, the ball of light continued the process, searching in a direction until it no longer found the stars. Soon enough the ball of light began to see the stars moved in an 'O' shape outwards, it had very few areas that it had yet to see.

Sitting in one of the last blank spaces, it saw exactly what it had been searching for, speeding ahead as the ball of light made no pause, it got there in a moment.

Its task was complete, it was finally back after such a long time. Amazed at what it saw, it noticed its own change too as it gazed at the massive changes that had happened below as well.

It set forth to try and understand its own differences along with the sphere's, it aimed for its most sacred place. Relieved, the cycle of the blue substance remained unchanged despite the green world now being filled with visible dots of color across its whole surface. It sank underneath the waves, resting deep below, reentering the now seemingly natural state of rest.
