"Why do you keep saying you've waited for me specifically for such a long time?"
The question had been itching his brain the entire time. Despite all the wonders that were set before him, he was immensely curious about that remark, why was he so special to this man beyond his understanding.
Oberin didn't answer right away either, he let Jason's voice hang in the air for the moment.
"The short answer, though still quite long, is that our people realized we were the lawkeepers of an unjust tyrant, we then in our ignorance of power rebelled against our 'benefactor' and lost the blessing it claimed to have given us in the process of trying to break free of its chains. Few lived, and those who we kept at bay before swept in to finish the job in our recovery. Me and my people here, were only the contingency but soon ended up the only plan. A way to create a blessing for us, a god of man, a god of knowledge, and choice. A god to break all shackles and chains.
Our people were already greatly blessed on our own, an intellect and spiritually unmatched by any we'd encountered. A body that did not age past a certain point, born to truly see the waves of time and the wisdom they bring. We could feed upon both the brightest stars and greatest voids for our strength.
But the blessing we lost was to see, see unlike any other could, a sight so strong it let us see through time and space and peer into wisps of its secrets with ease, a sight that rendered light unneeded.
The plan as we began to fall was to create a world void of any exterior influences or energy imbalances that worked in a closed loop of the purest energy, the aspect of infinity, to create a god born of its energy type. Then trap and refine that god until we could imbue it in ourselves and break through in evolution to a stage we never thought possible, as from the few who had reached a stage of our evolution we dubbed Pseudo-Supreme Master Guardians in the cultivation of their eyes and mind, to an all new stage as a true Supreme Master Guardian.
De-stress your brow, the story ends quite well for you and you're quite safe.
We knew Gods were born of pure energy when it was in such high concentration that there was an absence of all others.
But the aspect of infinity was a completely stable semi state between the perfect merger of energy that did not bend to any one restriction, and only we possessed the ability to wield and cultivate our body's with a small amount of it. The higher ranked the guardian the stronger their control and ratio of internal energy converted to infinity.
At birth, all guardians without exception were just regular guardians capable of 10% of their internal energy being the aspect of infinity, in-fact we would naturally refine it up to that point by time we were 15 years old. Past there we had to slowly increase our understanding of the world to understand what infinity was further but each persons comprehension would vary greatly and was not transferable directly.
When the infinity aspect saturation reached 30%, 50% and 80% qualitive changes would take place to our minds, eyes, and souls, allowing them to commune more directly with the world and each other like a more evolved colony of ants for perspective, along with developing a unique trait no one else would ever possess the same. At 30% you would get the tile Pseudo-Master Guardian, at 50% Master Guardian, and finally at 80% Pseudo-Supreme Master Guardian none would ever progress past this rank, even me.
But this wasn't just a given to our people. Most would slow or halt until they met their demise after 30%, 1 in 10 billion would reach 50% and progress to Master Guardian, 1 in 50 trillion would ever reach Pseudo-Supreme master guardian.
As one of the few Guardians left who was of the Pseudo-Supreme level, and the only one to ever reach a conversion ratio of 85.85% I Oberin Obeartis (A/N O-Br-in O-beair-tis) was to be the conduit to feed the aspect of infinity into this dimensional sphere. I designed and built to it so it made sense to also have me be the one to keep the Citadel, and our peoples dream of casting aside all living things chains aside alive.
But after I was sealed away for quite some time, the gateways you saw below stopped having visitors deliver the resources I needed to expand the Citadel one day I never knew it was going to be the last visit and I haven't seen any of my people since. So I continued my work, and slowly grew the levels of infinity in the sphere until a cycle of energy condensing and then rapid expansion, in its wake when all the energy and matter returned to a fine point I dubbed the compression point.
There would be more of a new kind of aspect of infinity, it was of a greater nature it was fundamentally different and didn't mix with the rest, but it was also alive in a sense it absorbed everything and both nothing but would multiply nonetheless regardless of the rate. This was a true concept of infinity itself as an energy. Eventually the universes that were born got so complex life would be born and extinguished in its cycle and when the concentration of this new infinity and my own reached such a level you were born after a while of these complex cycles.
When the smallest size of compression it could reach was exactly one centimeter, it split. But the second one then pulled almost all the light of the marbled black and white appearance of infinity from the old one into itself, the now darker older compression node exploded with force unlike any other time and hasn't stopped expanding, usually the expansion stage of the cycle was over in four billion years, but as of now it's reaching on nine billion years old with no signs of regression in site and that small lighter marbled ball became you after many years. It was cycle 1,973,872,763,279 I lost track of the number of years a long time ago sitting here spectating that.
But then you defied our understanding of a god being an advanced evolution of life both of and from pure energy like the millions we had seen before, and merged with the body of that child. You not only took control of the child's body but actually anchored yourself physically becoming human! Then you found out how to reinforce that body and convert more of that energy into a physical matter of its own within you.
This made me realize many things and one that instead of taking your power for myself and destroying a kind of life that defines the very chains I wished to break, I was instead meant to be the sacrifice, I decided then I would instead bless every ounce of the Guardian's strength upon your shoulders.
So I bring you here to transfer the essence of our people upon you. Combine the power and blessing of the Guardian race's body and mind to forge a new existence that can break past the threshold of creating the first and only true Supreme Master Guardian.
Your vision transcends space to a different level than our own ever could, nothing can be kept secret from it. Our true power though, rested on our ability to connect and see with the heavens, the same overlords we rebelled against. Our vision would let us commune with it and fill in small pieces we could not see for ourselves at the cost of energy. Or see glimpses of something in the past or future hence to see through 'time' with a specific objective.
Simple questions when utilizing this state would automatically be answered for a corresponding amount of energy sacrificed.
Our hope was that with your power we could take that knowledge from the heavens instead of always requesting it, but this was all thought then, I feel something even greater could come about now than we ever predicted back then. We never would have thought it possible for a god to infuse their essence into the human body and gain a physical mass without a divine spark.
Without saying even more that you wouldn't understand that's the best I can do for an explanation, I've been waiting to give you our bloodline and the eyes of the Guardian people so that you might continue our peoples lineage and bring us to the height we sought and fought to achieve back then in a fusion of god and man.
Truth is, I too won't know the true outcome until we try it. The cost of this process is my life, especially if the heavens detect it and interfere. So if it doesn't work it won't matter anyway but either way in the end you'll most defiantly gain part of my strength at the very least. Ultimately though it will be up to you what path you take with it, I can only sort of guide you for so long after by placing fragments of my consciousness within the Citadels core that without an anchor even in there will slowly fade given a short 50 years given everything going perfectly."
Halfway through Oberin's short story, Jason stopped questioning each thing he said internally as the next sentence would just spawn 100 more, he stood there and listened to Oberin's weathered voice recount the tale like it was a story book his mom was reading him, he made all sorts of visions up in his head expecting what their fall looked like and trying to imagine Oberin's story.
'What do you even say to that! So this old man basically made me!? Gods of pure energy, humans capable of whatever all this is?!'
Jason was shaking his mind a mess with stray thoughts and questions he didn't have a place to start to speak, his world had been shattered three times today and it didn't show any sign of easing up.
'I just want to go home and sleep... I guess that's not an option either...' Jason immediately recalled of what just happened, emotions swelled up in his gut as it started to twist and turn and his vision began to sway.
Oberin hadn't spoken again, he watched Jason stagger left to right little bits at a time, his eyes were lost in his mind. He then waved his hand and cool white glowing wind swept toward Jason, holding him steady and entering his lungs he finally took a deep breath.
When the wind swept into his lungs it seemed to spread the calming feeling toward his mind letting him think faster and calm the emotions rolling in his stomach, he couldn't focus enough to understand what it was doing.
"Relaxed now young god? I understand you can't make an informed decision about this without all the details but the truth is your birth was a thing of wonder; however, since this change within the dimensional sphere I lost control of my input and it has long reached past the point I could ever stop.
It continues to swallow my energy on its own endlessly, its reached past the point where I can recover even with the Citadel's assistance at the rate of consumption, I've been burning my stockpiled life force of all these years to make even with the consumption rate but I only have about a million years of reserve at this moment.
However, my window to perform the art to transfer my bloodline to you gets smaller and the window of success shrinks with it. I'd like to perform it and convert whatever energy I have left to keep the Citadel Operational until you can maintain it on your own given your superior talent in manipulating Infinity than even me, that it shouldn't take too long for you to get there. I don't have any certainties I can only predict until we try so the more I have in reserve the higher the chance for success.
I'll still be there to teach you afterwards and answer any questions you have from within the Citadel but none of that will matter if things don't go our way."
Jason's thinking was clearer than ever, he was able to compose a reply this time.
"What are the risks to me? Can you explain more about what you know about me specifically? You seem to be more in the know about me than I am. What makes it so much more likely a success in me than you, how do I know you're not just wanting my co-operation to make this easier for yourself?"
"Truth?" Oberin paused before replying void of emotion this time, "I wouldn't need your co-operation at all, I'm not taking anything from you, I can start the transfer at any time and I plan to whether you want to or not, I just wanted you to better understand what's going on incase something goes wrong and I can't be there for you as I think I will.
I know about as much as you do but about yourself since I read your thoughts and you were nothing like my expectations from the start but I do know that nothing is of true risk to you, a sort of blessing and curse, even us guardians can die given external circumstances; however I once tried to pull away a sliver of your core light when you released it across the entire universe but found once you recalled it no barrier could hold it, your core light simply slipped through the border of space and time and returned to you. Also, if it's taken or whenever new amounts of the 'true infinity' are generated they are universally attracted to you as if they were already you.
If your physical body is destroyed you can just take or create another, as the length of your 'death' would only last as long as it took for you to recover enough light to regain thought. So even if you want to die I don't think you could sadly. I feel you will understand that as a curse with more time rather than a blessing, I've wished to pass on and rest with my people for quite some time, I'm tired of it, but this burden has held me here until today and seeing you in front of me is setting me more at rest each moment.
Continuing, I also found slight traces of you or your energy everywhere I never would have noticed if I wasn't looking for it explicitly. You're made of essentially the byproduct of existence itself, and now since you've been born that same energy everywhere I've seen universally travels towards you as if it already were a part of you. Every time you cultivated your light, or how you thought of it more as resting, and absorbed that light as you saw it, universal streams of that energy would slowly omni-presently move to your position.
That's why even if we wanted to take it from you, we never would have been able to. We never expected that, and replicating your existence is equally impossible since every piece of that energy seems to already be you too. It wouldn't be possible to create a second true master node of that energy like yourself as it would just gravitate towards yourself with more force before it could ever reach that concentration thus dispersing. So to answer your question, you only have the chance of this working.
Unlucky for you since there's no other Pseudo-Supreme Master Guardians around, we only have one shot to see if we can finally break the limitation of the heavens."
