Chapter 28: The Mother’s Spirit Voice

When Slavica heard that, she looked back at the curious cat side of Gwen in disbelief before her lips formed into smirks.

"I'm a knight of course I do." Slavica chuckled at the thought of Gwen forgetting about her being a knight once. But she knew as well what Gwen was really trying to ask and it made her excited since it's been a while since the last time she draw her sword in training instead of fists.

"Train me." Slavica was totally ecstatic from hearing those words from Gwen. It was like she just waiting for her to drop it and there she goes on hugging Gwen tightly.

"Sure, tomorrow we'll start." Slavica kissed the forehead of Gwen who was giggling over her cuteness all of the sudden.

"You better not go easy on me." Gwen warned Slavica looking at her wickedly before winking at her.

"Oy, enough with the flirt. Dig in." Irina butted in their sweet moment as she put over the table their foods. Gwen quickly moved away from snuggling in Slavica and took a sandwich. Gwen's eyes went wide since she misses eating her favorite sandwich which was tuna.

"Iri, make plenty of it. Please and only serve it for me." Gwen insisted that making Irina chuckle while blushing lightly.

"I could see that it's your favorite and of course, I will reserve more for you. You're like my husband who loves how I made my signature sandwiches." Irina smiled as she agreed to make some and saved for her.

They went on having a blissful snack while the team dealt with the remaining reports that they have to prepare before submitting them to the main quarters. It was just a matter of time before they were done with their snacks, they also needed to retreat for the night and have some rest. Each one of them took their one spot in the small cabin while Gwen decided to rest elsewhere. She went to the basement and it was not about wanting to be separated from them. She just needs a place to meditate without being interrupted by anything. She decided to learn what she was having after she learned what she really could do.

"Alright, let's do this." Gwen muttered to herself after a big sigh and went to settle in a comfy spot while her back leaning comfortably on the couch.

As soon as Gwen took her time to relax her nerves from everything that she has just gone through in a short period of time, her body began to steam out some energy. She even began feeling the rush of her blood through her veins and letting them connect to every point inside her body. She went on practicing the energy flow within her from a certain point to another.

"This is fun." Gwen found herself smirking as she was having fun making her energy flow go from point to point flow.

While she was having fun, Gwen decided to try something and began adding some different energies that came from her surroundings and from her own body. She tried mixing them as if she was experimenting with creating new color combinations around her energies. But as she was doing that, she suddenly heard a voice.

'Don't overuse them.'

Gwen suddenly stopped what she was doing and quickly snapped her head around but found nobody was with her. She took a deep breath and was about to do it again but the same voice from a calm voice interrupted her again.

'Energies from nature might be great and infinite but they still need some time to replenish from the borrowed amount of energy that you take from them.'

Gwen jolted this time but being the curious cat that she had always been, she decided to calm herself and listened to what it just told her before asking.

"Who are you? Do I even know you?" Gwen took some guts to ask the voice that suddenly echoed through her ear.

'Someone came out from me to forget who I am but I can't argue since I left her after giving birth to her.'

"So, you're my biological mother's ghost?" Gwen carefully asked the voice that was echoing around the quiet basement. The lady's voice began on releasing a sweet giggle that partially made Gwen blush - she felt a little shy.

'I am not a ghost, I'm one with nature and I am going to guide you on how to use your power. But let me warn you, the power that came out from a bright star could blind anyone without being intended to, so watch your emotions carefully.'

If Gwen was still stuck in her old self, she wouldn't believe what she was hearing at the moment or she'll get scared or she might not care about it at all. But the fact, that her understanding or being open-minded went broader even more because she was moving around the supernatural entities in one blink of an eye.

"So, you're telling me if I am being too angry or sad or whatever overwhelms me it could hurt anyone around me even humans?" she wondered as she heard that which made her a little bit worried since she really doesn't want to hurt anyone with her power unless she has to by protecting her love ones.

'Everyone, dear, even Slavica.'

"Fuck. I mean, how I could control it then?" she released a heavy sigh as she heard that response which made her lay back down on the couch.

'That's why I am here. I'll guide you this time.'

"What do you mean this time?" she was being curious cat again which made the voice chuckle in amusement.

'I can't give my guide since Guinevere was interfering until recently.'

"Where will I be if she didn't interfere with you?" she wondered as she looked over the ceiling.

'You might meet Slavica and the others in other circumstances.'

"Oh, so, how we do it this time?" that was the only reaction she could muster before changing the subject which she heard other amusing giggles from her biological mother's energy around her.

'Alright, first rest. Your body needs enough rest before we could perform a cleansing ritual and open the gates of your power resting inside of you.'

"Wow, sounds heavy." Gwen sighed but she understood what she must do since she once saw it and even performed it along with the natives on her last travel with her adoptive parents.

'Gwen, once you do…you will feel different even more. Are you prepared?'

"How different?" that word caught the attention of Gwen while she was looking over her hands.

'Can't say it will be depending on how your body would take the change from within you.'

"It's always for me to find out…well, even though it was still not a hundred percent but I started to have faith and be patient because I found Slavica and she found me. She had this pull in me that I could do better for myself." Gwen honestly informs her biological mother's energy surrounded her.

'Then she's good for you now you desiring to change for the better. Now, go ahead a rest. We'll meet tomorrow morning before you and Slavica train.'

"Alright. Goodnight, mother…" Gwen yawned as soon as she said that to her. She knew that the lady's voice indeed came from her biological mother. She knew as she could feel their bond strongly like they came from one strong energy flow.

'Goodnight, my dear.'

Gwen immediately drifted to rest as her body was really exhausted from what she just went through as soon as woke up at the hospital and spend time with the assigned DIP team with her. As she was resting, Gwen didn't even realize that the energy of her mother around her took the form which exactly Slavica coming down to check on her. Slavica didn't comment upon seeing the exact face of Gwen apart from the deep shade of the moonlight eyes with a mauve ring around its pupil.

"You finally decided to show up to her." Slavica spoke as she took the folded blanket to place over the sleeping Gwen.

'You know the reason why I can't do that until now. You saw me already around her the moment she was lying down on the ground.'

"I know and Guinevere led me to her." Slavica answered as she caressed lovingly Gwen's face.

'Why you didn't tell her about you seeing me around her?'

"I know you're not harming her like her blood flame does whenever she was having nightmares from memory lane." She answered before smiling at her not even minding that she was not literally wearing any mask but with Gwen's glow, only Gwen could see her real face.

'You really have a kind heart which no wonders why my daughter fell for you.'

"I might find her there but she also found me in my darkness. She was a beautiful angel that gave light and made me see how wonderful things could be." Slavica honestly confessed as she watched Gwen sleeps dearly.

'Will you still say that when you come closer and only to see how broken her wings already were?'

"Wow, I never thought you'll ask that but, I will still see her as a beautiful angel as I believe that she'll heal and her wings will grow back. I will stay beside her and watch her grow her wings again." She slightly chuckled but she sincerely speaks what her heart was feeling toward Gwen.

'Can I know why you choose to stay even though she's flawed?'

"I am flawed as well. None of us were born perfect. We're all perfectly imperfect creatures and Gwen sees past me every time I opened up things to her. She was a wonderful piece of art that I really wanted to keep and desired to take care of for the rest of my remaining life." She smiled as she expressed what impact Gwen gave on her life.

'Keep that faith and love as I hope for a better outcome of your union.'

"You're blessing us?" Slavica curiously asked as she turned to meet the biological mother of Gwen who was like a ghost because of being translucent beside her.

'As long you keep her happy, I don't mind blessing the person who could make her smile the way she deserves.'

"Hope people could see things like that but nope. Not all people were like that. People were created differently and unique from each other." She chuckled before looking over Gwen once again and placing a lingering kiss on her forehead.

'You're right. Keep Him in the center and you will manage everything that lies before of you.'

"We will." She reassured Gwen's biological mother because Slaivca didn't want to let go of the person who made her see how beautiful and wonderful the place they were living could be. But she also knows that there will be a lot of things that need to face which include training her to be good at controlling what was bestowed upon Gwen.

Slavica was about to get up beside the sleeping Gwen since she had to check the status around the perimeter of the cabin, but Gwen reached out her hand and held it close to her. She was surprised but soften as her smile showed up genuinely.

'I leave her into your care after we're cleansing tomorrow.'

"Understood." Slavica smiled as she sat on the ground and put her hand over the couch as she watched Gwen's sleeping face closely.

'Rest beside her, she'll love that.'

"As I am too." she smiled before she yawn and let herself be drifted into a peaceful and dreamless dream.

As the dreamless dream took over the silence of the night, another dawn breaks the nighttime. Waking up Gwen from her peaceful rest with a morning yawn and a few stretches on her body but something made her smile like a bright morning sun. She saw Slavica sleeping peacefully beside her and she really wanted to take a picture of it but instead, she just engraved it in her mind as she took this moment so precious.

'As I've heard from nowadays, they would say to take a picture since it last.'

"It indeed last but I'd rather keep this one to my heart." Gwen wasn't surprised when she heard that same voice from last night as she honestly answered her biological mother's energy floating around her.

'You really love her.'

"Yes, I do. I never felt this with anyone…the feeling of wanting to give, to do better, and even make a certain person be happy even though I know I couldn't. I still do want - mean, the urge of giving whatever you can give for that person and I felt them to Slavica alone." She informed her mother's spirit while she can't stop smiling as she caressed the head of the sleeping Slavica beside her.

'I can see that. Shall we now proceed to your cleansing?'

"Yeah, we shall." Gwen leaned closer to the sleeping Slavica and kissed its forehead before getting up. She even put the blanket that she just used on her before she went upstairs to prepare the necessary things that she'll need for her cleansing.

When she was already at the cabin, she went to the kitchen to grab the salt and went to the backyard since there she saw a wooden tub barrel for an outdoor bath. She filled the barrel with lukewarm water before pouring enough amount of salt into it. She took all of her clothes off her body and just retained only her undergarments. Doing that, for the first time she managed to look over her body where she noticed some healed wounds from her fall. It left scars due to the stitches from her operation. She sighed and leave it be before she let herself soak in the water in the barrel that she prepared and started relaxing.

'Start on mediating.'
