Chapter 5 - Freed

After making sure the Blue Wolf died, Liu Huichen rushed to Chu Yixue's side and asked,

"Are you okay?"

Chu Yixue nodded making Liu Huichen relieved, he then started investigating the surrounding before exclaiming in surprise, attracting the attention of both Chu Yixue and Ye Feng. Chu Yixue approached Liu Huichen's location, she and Ye Feng were then stunned by the fragrance that emanated from the fruits of a tree.

Ye Feng felt a sudden urge of pouncing toward one Fruit and eat it whole yet he tried his best to resist that urge since first, he was still in Chu Yixue's grasp and second, he was on his guard, he didn't believe the Blue Wolf would be able to resist the urge of eating one of the Fruits, something had to be guarding them.

Yet, unexpectedly, Liu Huichen picked the fruits easily, he then shared them with Chu Yixue who didn't hesitate to give one to Ye Feng, who started thinking that it was extremely weird, Liu Huichen whispered something in Chu Yixue's ears who released him into the wild before giving him one last hug.

It keeps getting weirder, Ye Feng thought, he looked at the fruit he had in his hand, it was crystal-clear, it looked a bit like a pear yet it was way longer than a regular pear, Ye Feng kept looking behind him and picked out a few leaves from the nearby trees.

He coated the fruit in leaves until there was no more aroma emanating from it, he quickly hopped, yet, even then, he would be unable to reach the underground village before night, and since he wasn't sure how dangerous it would be, he used his Mental Power and started digging until he made a little den.

He then hid in the den, thinking that he could last the whole day without food, yet, the reality was different, his stomach started grumbling, he hid the pear-like fruit in the den and headed outside, he had to search for food and if he couldn't, he could eat the pear-like fruit as a last resort.

Ye Feng didn't know which plant was edible and which one was inedible but aside from their Mental Power appearing at birth, Furbuns also had an incredible memory, due to this, he still remembered the exact appearance of every plant he ever ate and he even remembered their taste.

In his order of priority, Ye Feng searched for the plants that he remembered having the most calories, and then the one that had the best taste, coincidentally, the plant that tasted the best also had the most calories.

Fortunately, he was able to find some edible plants but they probably weren't enough to make him eat until he was full, he also remembered yet another problem: thirst. He now had to find more plants and a water source, and, be extremely careful while going to the water source since he could potentially meet a predator and be killed.

While wandering through the forest, Ye Feng didn't forget to do small markings on the trees, that's also what he did so as to not get lost whilst he was being dragged through the forest by Chu Yixue. Luckily, he soon found a fruit on a very huge tree, this tree stood out amongst the rest since it was at least twice as big and twice as tall, its leaves also had a different color.

Ye Feng was surprised, fruits were extremely rare, even in those 6 months, he hadn't eaten more than 5 fruits and they all looked the same, however, this fruit was different, the fruit he used to eat was round and was reddish, at first, Ye Feng thought that it was an apple, yet its inside was different, it resembled the insides of a peach and was extremely pink.

This fruit reminded him of a star-shaped banana, needless to say, he wondered about the taste of this fruit and was already drooling, yet, he noticed a small mouse climbing up the tree extremely slowly yet steadily, aiming for the fruit, 'Oh no you won't!', Ye Feng thought.

He used his Mental Power and started counting in his mind, when it reached 5, he directly pulled a piece of bark from the tree with the little mouse on it, directly being thrown onto the ground wasn't enough to kill it but it was already injured, Ye Feng looked at it and thought, 'Hmm.. It's a bit smaller than a limb from the Training Dummy? Maybe this could try..'

He used his mental power and tried to crush the mouse to death, he noticed that he couldn't notice the cost from constantly crushing so he would squeeze really strongly the mouse then wait a few seconds before doing it again, in the end, he wasn't sure if the mouse had died but he was sure of one thing, he was completely exhausted, he felt like sleeping right now but he knew he still had work to do.

He started eating the plants he stuck on his fur when he finished eating, he looked up and saw the fruit waiting for him, he used his not-fully replenished Mental Power and climbed up the tree. The moment he felt he was close enough, he jumped and picked the fruit with his Mental Power, he inspected it then directly started eating it, ignoring the System Prompt.

It was tasty and was filled with water, he felt his thirstiness slowly being quenched as he ate, when he finished, he was full of energy and felt extremely sleepy, yet, that sleepiness seemed to have immediately disappeared when he noticed that the system prompt hadn't disappeared, he pressed Yes and noticed that his luck was raised by 2% and didn't feel as if he was thirsty or hungry again... It seemed that he could get the benefits and still get Luckier... He regretted not having eaten that flower back then. Shaking his head, he went back to his den and started sleeping after making this discovery.

"YE FENG...

YE FENG..."

Ye Feng was immediately awakened and poked his head outside, looking if there were any dangers then started hopping toward the direction of the sound, as he heard the people screaming his name, even more, he hopped even faster, he recognized all of those voices, after all, they were his siblings, his mother and someone who he didn't know but it should be another Furbun... Maybe his father?

Thinking of that, he wondered what his parents were doing back on Earth, were they dead? Or did they survive? If he could grow strong enough to go back to Earth he could save them but if they were dead then he would avenge them. He then shook his head, he was too weak to think of doing that for now, it wasn't even sure if he could survive past the 5 years of protection.
