Chapter 11 - Pouch

Ye Feng looked at the scattered pieces of Liu Erlong's head splattered all over the narrow tunnel, when he put his eyes on that, he felt like vomiting but in the end, he didn't and started inspecting Liu Erlong's body, in his hand, he found the stone that Liu Erlong had used to find his location, he crushed it and heaved a sigh of relief 'I shouldn't have the mark anymore'.

Having finished what he wanted to do, he looked at the System Prompt and directly pressed Yes, he looked at the bar representing his luck, the 20% remaining to reach the next rank was filled and the bar continued rising until it reached half, His luck went from 'Fated to Never Exist' to 'Fated to Die young'.

Having raised his luck, he then continued searching Liu Erlong's headless body and found 2 pouches, he opened them and looked inside, it looked as if it was a portal to another world, there was an entire space inside this small pouch, Ye Feng was surprised that they could own that, items like that would normally be extremely rare and expensive.

Ye Feng couldn't directly grab the items inside those pouches and instead, he used his Mental Power to pick them, he would then put the items on the ground, after removing everything that was in those pouches, he looked at the loot, in those 2 pouches, he had only found one item, in what should've been Chu Yixue's pouch, it was a spear, the shaft of the spear was rather cold when Ye Feng touched it.

As for the head of the spear, he didn't even touch it to understand how dangerous this weapon was, after inspecting it a bit more, he put it back into the pouch, this spear would replace his pike, he could simply use his Mental Power to grab it and attack with it.

There was also a pile of purple coins, he couldn't use it and he didn't even know if he ever could since he'd need to transform into a human or use someone as a middleman to be able to use these coins, he put them back into the other pouch, as for the other items, there were pills and yellow paper with character inscribed unto them, Ye Feng didn't think twice and knew they were talismans, since he didn't know what was their uses, he put them in the same pouch he put the coins.

The final items were 2 jade plate with a character inscribed on it, a jade plate like that should've been a way to represent their status, nonetheless, it wouldn't be of much use since they died and Ye Feng certainly wouldn't keep it with him so he kept it on himself, proceeded to climb up before throwing the jade plates in the lake.

Although he had destroyed the stone that allowed them to track him, Ye Feng wasn't sure if he was still marked so he didn't dare go back to the underground village, even though that would mean risking to die in the road to the center of the forest.

Ye Feng went back to his den after that exhausting day and started cultivating with all his might, he knew that he had survived through sheer luck and cultivated hard, he didn't go out in the next few days and only stopped cultivating to eat and drink, he didn't even sleep since cultivating would keep him alive even if he didn't sleep for an entire year, it's just that he had to deal with the tiredness, something that he ignored now, he had to become stronger after all, on his way to the center, he won't be able to use cheap tricks such as using waves of fishes to make someone lose their energy.

2 Weeks Later,

He finally stopped cultivating and slept, those 2 weeks of cultivation resulted in an extremely good harvest, as the days had passed, he had realized that cultivating seemed to grant better results as each second passed, for the first and only time, he took a pause and pondered and came to a very quick conclusion, the fatigue, as the days passed, his fatigue would pile up and would result in cultivation being harder thus making it grant better results, it was the only explanation Ye Feng found, as for the energy being stored in his body, Ye Feng noticed that it didn't change at all so it couldn't have been that.

Nonetheless, whatever it was, those 2 weeks of non-stop cultivation allowed his Mental Power to reach the level of 8 Star Warrior, something that he thought would take at least 1 month if he kept the same pace as before, it seemed that he was indeed doing nothing but slacking off in the previous 5 months since he might've even reached the level of 1 Star Knight if he had cultivated at this pace, even though he said that, he knew he would've lacked energy for his bottleneck, fortunately, now, after he had killed Liu Erlong, he had enough energy to reach 8 Star Warrior and surely enough to reach 9 Star Warrior.

Ye Feng stopped thinking about that, he started packing up everything for his trip to the center, he put everything in the 2 pouches he had kept, sadly, he couldn't put anything since each pouch could only hold up to 5 cubic meters worth of items.

Having everything ready, he took a quick trip to the lake to fill his barrels before using his markings to know where to go to, using these markings, he'd be able to find the inner area, then, if he continued on the road, he should be able to find the center. right?

He really wasn't sure if those markings would be enough to find the center but, if he took too long, he might as well give up and just go home, the first part of the trip was easy, he just had to follow the markings and no beasts even appeared, it seemed that the impact Humans had in this world was true.

While on the road, he kept thinking of Liu Erlong and Chu Yixue, he felt that something was off, in his first encounter with them, he had heard them talking about Soul-Beast... Why didn't Liu Erlong summon his? Since he was a 4 Star Knight, logically speaking, he should have one...

He stopped thinking about it very quickly since he couldn't find any logical answer to that and continued hopping to the inner area, it took him a few hours before he finally felt the atmosphere around him changing, almost as if the air was denser, Ye Feng knew that it was proof of this being the inner area.

He now had to find the center, something that was harder since, first, he didn't know which direction to take, and, second, beasts here were way stronger than in the outer area, he had to be extremely careful, using his Mental Power to detect anything, luckily, his range had already increased to 550 Meters, if he ever found a dangerous beast, he'd be able to hide before they even found him.

*Hissss*

Unfortunately, life didn't work as one would expect, as he was hopping randomly in the inner area, he saw a shadow rushing at him, with a quick look, Ye Feng found it to be an extremely small snake, so small that with his immense range, it was hard to notice, another reason he didn't notice it was due to his color which was a natural camouflage, now, this snake was attacking him.

Ye Feng didn't know how strong this snake was but it couldn't be a Knight level beast since it would've used elemental powers and not directly rush at him, he didn't know what to do and grabbed the snake with his Mental Power, giving him time to think about what to do next since he couldn't hold on for too long, he estimated this snake to be at 8 Star Warrior too.

Ye Feng looked at the ground and suddenly had an idea, he started making 4 extremely tall walls of dirt and threw the snake between those walls, he then made an extremely heavy block of dirt and threw it between the 4 walls.

*Squish*

Ye Feng heard a sound coming from between those 4 walls and quickly hopped away since he was scared the scent of blood might attract others beasts, he didn't even fill the holes he made in the ground.
