As Amy was lost in her thoughts, a knock at the door startled her back to reality. Allen made his way to the door and opened it, revealing a familiar face standing there.
"Um… who is this?" Allen asked, taken aback by the stranger.
The person standing at the door replied, "I came here for Amy. Is she alright?" The voice was filled with concern.
Amy heard the voice and instantly recognized it. She wondered aloud, "Mia? Is that you?"
"Yes, it's me," Mia confirmed, her voice tinged with worry. "Excuse me, can I come in?"
Allen allowed her in, and Mia rushed toward Amy with a guilty expression. Amy and Dolly were sitting on the sofa, and Mia sat down on the floor beside them, her face a mix of relief and sadness.
"Mia," Amy asked, her tone tinged with embarrassment, "how did you know I was here?"
Amy feared that Mia would blame herself for the situation, as she had been absent from their planned meet-up. Amy didn't want Mia to feel guilty for something beyond her control.
With a quiet, almost trembling voice, Mia said, "A-Amy, this happened because of me, right? Amy, I'm... I'm so sorry. I never thought you would get into this kind of trouble because of me. I—I—"
Amy quickly interrupted, trying to prevent Mia from continuing down the path of self-blame. "No, Mia, it's not your fault. It was me. I should've gone home when you messaged me."
Mia shook her head. "No, it's my fault. I should've taken care of you. I should've informed you sooner, or canceled my party plans. It's all my fault."
"Mia, no, it wasn't your fault," Amy insisted, trying to reassure her friend. "I'm fine now, and it's all thanks to Allen." She gestured toward Allen, who nodded gratefully.
Mia's eyes filled with tears. "Even though you were safe, this shouldn't have happened at all. You were hurt, Amy."
Dolly stepped in to keep the conversation on track. "Mia, we'll talk about this later. Let Amy rest first."
Turning to Allen, Dolly asked, "Where is the guest room? And we need a place to talk in private."
Allen directed them to the balcony. "You can use the balcony for your conversation, and let Amy rest in the room beside it."
Mia and Dolly helped Amy to her room, making sure she was comfortable. Then Dolly grabbed Mia's hand and led her to the balcony, closing the door behind them.
On the balcony, Dolly confronted Mia. "Tell me what happened! I asked you to take care of her while I wasn't here!"
Mia explained her side of the story, saying that she and Amy had planned to meet up, but she had to cancel last minute because her boyfriend invited her to a party. She had informed Amy of the change in plans, and even called her, but didn't receive any response.
She assumed Amy was resting after her part-time job and thought nothing of it until she couldn't reach her again. So, Mia called Amy's parents, who told her Amy was in an accident and staying at Allen's house.
Mia explained she had rushed over as soon as she heard the news, her heart heavy with guilt. She hoped Amy would forgive her and that Dolly would understand the circumstances.
