Debutante Ball (part 3)

My mind raced through all the characters I could remember from the game but, no matter how much I thought I couldn't remember. The original Sirius wouldn't help me by sharing his memories, that much I know I've tried it a lot before. I stared at Sage, hoping for the face to give at least a spark of familiarity but, there was nothing.

"I apologize but, I don't think we've met before and neither are we close enough for you to disregard my title as easily as that."

He looked at me, clearly amused, "My, my look how polite you are being. Why don't we drop the formalities yeah?"

"No, thank you."

"Let's be friends Prince Sirius, I'm sure we will be great friends." I stared at the man before me. Trying to understand his motives in doing all this, he just seemed… unpredictable.

"We'll meet again Sirius. Happy Birthday, I hope you live happily from now on." He flashed a dimpled smile before jump over the railings, I hurriedly went to the edge of the balcony and looked over but the man was nowhere to be seen.

Special Chapter: Sage POV

This time, I saw him for the first time when I sneaked into his palace. My first sight of him was nearly magical. His blonde hair bounced as he walked, flowers- roses to be specific, surrounded him. The sun shone brightly and the occasional gentle wind rushing past him made the scene seem unreal.

His dark blue sapphire-like orbs turned towards me and I nearly froze but managed to hide round the corner, I hoped I was quick enough for him to not get suspicious. Sirius seemed to have ignored me as he continued wherever he was off too and I followed behind, making sure not to be too close nor too far. I wanted to keep him in my sights for a while more.

He was just as cute; 15 years Sirius was definitely very cute. I want to talk to him, I want to meet him, I want him to know I exist, I want him to acknowledge me.

But I was careless. Sirius noticed me. He noticeably began walking faster and noticed it was to get rid of me, as much as the realization pained me, I still tried to keep up with him. Sirius reached a maze and swiftly went in, immediately I worried that he would be stuck in it for ages with no one to help him out; against all better judgement I rushed after him. Two minutes in and I not only lost Sirius but I was lost in the stupid maze myself. I can't wrap my head around why anyone would want to make a maze, it's just a huge pain. I find other traps so much better.

It was then that I heard footsteps, two pairs of footsteps and way too heavy for a teen. I made sure to keep my distance from them, I didn't want anyone to find me, I just wanted to see Sirius for once at the very least.

As I ran, I reached a dead end, I panicked nobody else could see or find me but I didn't know how to get out of here. Suddenly a hand grabbed mine and pulled me round one of the lanes, when I looked up, I saw Ares. I released a sigh of relief.

After a while of running we both stopped, panting hard trying to quickly catch our breaths, "Why are you here?"

"I could ask you the same you know…" I replied.

"Haahhh~ Yes yes. Did anyone see you."

"Not clearly at least. Sirius might have seen me but I know it wasn't clearly enough."

"I can't believe you. Anyway, it doesn't matter. You need to leave, go back to wherever you came from." Ares seemed serious so I obliged on one condition, "After I see him one last time."

Ares was about to shoot me down so I added, "One time and I'm gone until later. Promise." My promised seemed to have work since he nodded, a bit exasperated but no matter he is okay with my condition. He turned and walked away as soon as he did and I followed him out before running off again.

I stared at the moon lying on my back on what seemed to be the roof of the balcony of the ballroom. I wanted to go in as well but I couldn't so I stayed and listened as the music filled my ears. I didn't get to see Sirius again the entire day and wondered if I should just give up and go home, after all I saw him before, in the morning.

"Mother, please…" wait, was that Sirius' voice I heard. I paid closer attention, it was definitely Sirius, there's no mistake. After a few minutes, things went silent again, I couldn't properly hear what they said but I knew he still on the balcony was alone right now. I contemplated joining him, just to see his reaction, just when I was about too surprise him, I heard more voices approach him, so I waited and waited and waited some more. They had a pretty lengthy talk. I nearly lost my patience and wanted to jump in already and maybe play it off but, on the last second, I stopped myself. Ares' scary face came in mind and I'd personally like to avoid that happening anytime soon or never if possible.

"A frown doesn't look cute on you Sirius."

The words spilled out of me like an open dam before I even thought about not saying it. Over time, I thought about a lot of different things I could or would say when I met him. But nothing seems to be going according to plan when it comes to Sirius.

I couldn't help teasing him some more, I wanted to talk to him longer. I missed him but I knew the longer I stayed the harder it would be to go so I wished him and decided it to be my 'goodbye' for now,

It was after I jumped of the railings and glanced back up the balcony did, I see Sirius hurriedly look over, when he didn't see me around, slight worry formed at his brows. I stayed in my hiding place until he went back him and I walked away from my spot, deciding it was time I went back. I took one last glance at the balcony and willfully swept my eyes across all the windows I could see until I did catch a glimpse of Sirius again.

I then slowly went back; the night was young and the party would probably be a while but I couldn't risk waiting any longer. Coming here was already a huge risk in itself and I didn't want to be seen or caught so it was time I returned and that's exactly what I did.
