Sic em boys

Time is of the essence and while the soldiers will need a while to fully extricate themselves from the fight, we still have some distance to cover.

"ENEMIES! KILL THEM ALL! FOLLOW ME!"

They get the message. I turn around and sprint towards the ending battle while chanting the words kill and enemy in various combinations to keep them interested. As the battle scene comes into view, the elves have already left and the dwarves are in full retreat as fast as their armies allow.

Only the humans are stuck slowly retreating backwards while the legions calmly follow and keep up the pressure. The humans could just run but that would leave their backs wide open for the javelins of all three legions combined.

They are so focused on defending their rear that the horde of skull goblins is only noticed when we are about fifty meters away from hitting their flank.

The human soldiers naturally panic, hard. Adding 10'000 skull goblins to the overwhelming legion forces makes them feel like doomsday has arrived.

They begin to turn and attempt to run wildly toward the gate. The legions halt their advance and send a wave of javelins after the soldiers instead. The javelins are packed so densely that they appear to block out the sky as they rain down on the unprotected backs of the soldiers.

After that the legions stand down. Thankfully Vespasian seems to be unwilling to see the skull goblins be equally skewered when we enter the melee.

As I see the soldiers running with their backs to the enemy, a wild untameable feeling awakens in me. I can also tell that the skull goblins around me move with more vigor and feral agility.

"KILL THEM!"

With one final commanding shout, I draw my daggers and throw myself into the mess of retreating soldiers. Slashing left and right while sending energy daggers flying at soldiers without even needing to aim, I dive into the carnage.

From time to time I see a skull goblin clawing and biting at a hapless soldier. Overall, we are doing serious damage and some skull goblins have already begun to pick up the soldiers' weapons and swing them around maniacally. Sure, here or there I see a dead skull goblin, having been stabbed to death by the desperately retreating soldiers. However, the dead soldiers outnumber our losses by at least two to one.

The fight is short-lived since they quickly escape through the gate and retreat to the lower floor. Most skull goblins stop once their prey leaves through the gate. The rippling water-like surface is foreign to them and the ones brave enough to keep going get called back by me.

According to Navi, we only lost about 500 skull goblins in this skirmish. The soldiers lost many more especially when considering their previous losses during their desperate assault against the undead legion.

Navi, does Vespasian need the soldiers' equipment or can I take it to equip the skull goblins?

I attempt to direct the skull goblins toward equipping themselves with what they can forage from the fallen soldiers. It's a learning process but they begin to get it after I show of my armor and daggers a couple of times and help my blue scarfs put on armor and take a weapon.

After enough skull goblins get it, the rest begin to imitate them and the equipping becomes automated. Now that they are going by themselves I can afford to ask about why Vespasian is raging.

I open the dungeon map and take a look at the floor we are about to invade. I am greeted by the sight of a colosseum filled with jagged rock formations. Numerous tunnels lie below the rocky surface though most of them seem to be fully blocked off or have entrances that are near impossible to find.

While the map seems to allow plenty of cover which will hinder sniper rifles, they rock formations also create countless choke points. If the gunners have shotguns or sub machine guns they'll be able to massacre the skull goblins.

According to Edward, who was an army gunner before he died, a gunner's biggest weakness are opponents with high defense or a lack of ammunition. Both can't be of much help to me here. Skull goblins have crappy defense, and these gunners probably have enough ammunition to severely impact the number of skull goblins I have before they run out.

With the original defenders of that floor still present, the gunner can just sit back after they empty all their magazines and let the others take on the weakened skull goblin horde.

You're right, if we divert their attention toward the surface and one or two mayor tunnels, I can lead a group through a hidden tunnel and get behind their lines. We have the advantage of knowing the layout and placement enemy of units perfectly. But we can't give them too much time or they might realize.

Can you talk to Vespasian about this as soon as he calms down? I'll try and get the skull goblins ready and plan out what tunnel I want to use.

Do your best.
