Three

I brought the silver briefcase with me, still irritated of how he got away. I sneaked back to the meeting place, opening the door as I make sure no one was looking. I got greeted by my team. There were a bunch of men kneeling at the floor, all tied up and gagged. A few were wounded. There's 13 of them.

I guess I'm the only one who couldn't catch him.

Everyone looked at me as soon as I enter.

"Where's the guy?" The man CEO Kim sent asked, checking the silver briefcase I'm carrying.

"He got away," I simply place the briefcase on the creaky table.

"What the heck?" he complained. "Now he's going to report this to their boss. Ugh!"

"I know, I know.. But is my team famous?" I asked, casually sitting down on one of the chairs. Even if I failed--well, partly failed--I was relaxed.

I'm usually like that, actually. Even in a life crisis', I stay calm. I've been taught to keep in your fears and not show it. So that's what I do for the rest of my life. I don't cry. I don't tremble in fear. And I don't get scared.

Well... That's the Lee Y/N everyone knows.

So I should might as well be it.

Besides, I don't even know myself anymore. Nowadays, I see myself as the same as others--the same as judgemental people.

"No. What makes you think that?" one of my teammates spoke up.

"Well, the man I was targetting on knew that we were Purple Night..." I sighed with a shrug, suddenly getting dizzy. My eyes start to get heavy, but I try to flutter it open. My head leans on the wall at my back because of the pounding headache.

"Hey, what happened to your hands???" Seagull approached me, sitting down on another chair to my left and opening my hands.

I was too tired to react, maybe it's because I lost a lot of blood from my wounds.

"It's nothi..." The next thing I know, my head fell down onto Jungkook's shoulder and everything went blank.

---

I slowly open my heavy eyes, seeing the sight of my bedroom. I tried remembering what had happened before I ended up here.

'Oh, right. I passed out.'

I scanned my hands, expecting to see it wounded. But now it was wrapped in bandages. I slowly sat up, being careful not to make myself dizzy again.

I saw my doorknob turn and the door opened. Kook came in with a tray, a bowl of porridge and a glass of water placed on it.

I couldn't hear the vibrations when she turned the door.. Maybe because I'm not yet fully recovered.

"Oh, you're awake," he places the tray onto my lap and drags a chair to the side of the bed. "Here, I made porridge for you," he points her chin on the bowl.

"What's with the greasiness today? I don't even have a fever and you're giving me porridge," I stared at him with a curious stare.

"Fine, then. I'll eat it instead." He snatched the bowl away from me, but I pulled it back on the tray. "Tch."

I was about to grab the spoon, but I realized that my hands were bandaged.

"Umm... How am I supposed to do this?" I attempted to hold the spoon, but the bandages between my thumb and index were preventing me from doing so.

I hear him sigh, "What would you do without me..." He picks up the porridge with the spoon, pointing it towards me. "Say ahhh~"

"Ahhh~" I close my mouth on the spoon and he pulls it out. "Did you make this or did my maid did?" I asked, munching on it.

"Me, of course."

I let out a chuckle-like scoff, "As if I would believe you."

"Yah! I really did it!"

"Yeah, right~" he feeds me another spoonful, harshly this time. My teeth hit the hard spoon, making me choke on the porridge. Once I drank the water, I glared at Tae. "You...! Aish... My teeth hurt now!"

He only giggles back, his bunny smile showing.

I look down at the porridge, avoiding eye contact. "Are you doing this because of the fight at the meeting?" I changed the topic within a second.

His facial expression turned into guilt. "I-"

Quickly, I cut him off. "Don't be sorry, I don't want to be sorry back." I made up an excuse to stop him.

He only stayed silent, so I decided to lighten up the mood.

I lightly tap on his nose, making him look up at me. "Stop slowing down the mood and tell me what else is bothering you."

"Umm... How'd you injure your hand?"

"I grabbed a knife."

"A knife?!!"

I chuckled at his reaction, "Have you forgotten that I've been shot yet still lived? There are far worse injuries than these."

"Oh.. right."

I open my mouth again, eating another spoonful of porridge fed by him. "Do I have to go to the CEO's office today?" I ask.

"Wha--How'd you-"

"It's obvious. I'm the only who couldn't catch one of them. He even knows our team's name. That basically spells out you're-in-trouble in all caps."

He chuckles, giving me another spoonful. "You were supposed to meet him in his office, but since he has other appointments, he just told me to relay you a message."

"That bastard.. He's making you his messenger again." I mutter under my breath, not meant for Tae's ears to hear.

"Y/N," he sternly said, hearing the words I muttered.

"Yes, yes~ What's the message then?"

"He told me that he would let you off since you were rusty after doing no missions for 2 months."

"What? I'm rusty??? Who does he think he is to judge me!"

"He's the CEO."

Almost forgot about that. "Right."

"He also told me that if you do another mistake, he won't let it slide," he continued.

"Fine."

"Tch. Here, eat the rest. I have to go for a morning jog." He started to stand up from the bed.

"Eh??? How am I supposed to do that???" I stared at him with a confused look.

He sighed hopelessly, "Then throw it away."

"Fine. Wait for me in the living room." I took the tray, standing up and wearing my slippers.

"Why?"

"Just wait for me there."

---

Once I was ready, I get my music player and open the door to the living room. Jungkook turned his attention to me.

"Why are you wearing that?"

"Wearing what?"

"That!" He pointed at my outfit.

My outfit was... Was it a bit too obvious? Black leggings, a black sports bra, and a grey jacket with a hood. Basically an outfit for working out.

"What about it?" I shrug.

"Y/N, you're not supposed to come with me and exercise. You just woke up from fainting."

"I have a strong immune system, Kook. You should know that by now. Besides, I won't be using my hands today." I shrugged, already struggling to put my white rubber shoes.

He sighs, "Fine."

We finally head off to the nearest park, taking our time in the elevator. Since I live at the penthouse, we have a lot of time before we reach the ground floor. It takes about 7 mins.

///

The man that I followed was now holding a knife, and my eyes adjusted well in the dark.

"Looks like Purple Night got assigned on this one, huh?"

///

"How do you think do they know about our team?" My eyes squint suspiciously.

"Who?"

"Those who were planting the bomb."

It took a few seconds for Jungkook to understand, and until he completely figured it out. "Probably because you're famous from your parents' fame. I think it would be normal for them to hear what's going on with you. Like a celebrity or somethin'."

"But seriously, how did they know? Our information is only kept within the company. Our security is also advanced to the point that the president can't even get through."

"Maybe word got out?" he shrugs.

"Kook, you know that if word gets out, the person who started it will get killed with no traces right?"

"Ugh. Why are we even talking about work when we're literally out of work," he grunted.

Junglook steps out of the elevator first, followed by me who is still suspicious of the bombers.

We walk to the nearest park, putting down our bags on the grass and laying down.

"Ahhh~~ Smells like nature!" he exclaimed.

I chuckle out a response, "More like: smells like plants and animal shit." I start to stretch my body. My eyes caught onto Jungkook, realizing that he was about to jog immediately. "Aren't you gonna stretch first?"

"Nah, I'm too impatient. You know that already."

"Good luck on enduring those cramps."

"Yeah, yeah~ I'm off!" He starts walking away, slowly speeding up the pace.

Once I was done with my warm-ups, I play the music on my music player and place my headphones on both ears.

<< Play: Inner Child - Kim Taehyung >>

(Not necessary)

I start to jog as well, taking in the beautiful weather. My feet start to take big steps, pushing my body forward for a run.

Although the music was muffling my surroundings, I could still hear the fountains trickling and the birds chirping. Even the clouds seemed to be talking to me as if it was my friend. Every single step I take, the more I hear my surroundings. The ants taking small steps, the grass, swaying, the sun, beaming, the bubbles, popping--everything. I could hear everything.

For a second, it got overwhelming. But once it did, someone bumped into my left shoulder, making my headphones fall along with my hood, and my concentration fade.

I snap my head to the now fallen person on the floor. "Are you okay?"

Her figure was fragile and small, making me more cautious if I hurt her. She looks up at me before rubbing her knees, "I'm alright."

A familiar face...

She tries standing up, but then she collides with the floor again and hisses in pain. I glance at her knee, seeing a big scratch. "I'm really sorry. Here." I offer a hand to help her stand up.

She looks up at me, giving me a chance to carefully look at her face this time. Those eyes are very familiar. I try to remember where I've seen her...

Oh

That bunny on stage.
