Life is not easy, it's cruel, for everyone. We can't keep complaining. We can't keep blaming. We should accept it and move forward. But as I'm sitting here, cursing under my breath, crying internally, wondering what I did wrong in my previous life that I had to be here, stuck. As I look around, all I can see are those happy faces. Some are eating, some are reading and chatting with their friends, some are eating each other's face in the corner and then here I'm sitting beside a boy with a boy in front of me. Lmao. Life can be pretty sarcastic.
"Su!" Lucy called waving in front of my face and the train of thoughts came to a halt.
"Huh. Yeah?" I asked startled. Wanting to dig a hole and bury myself.
"Ah yeah, this is Luke. He's gonna join us." She said with a huge smile on her face. I nodded. Okay. Sure! Nice. If only she knew we have met before. If only!
"Hey man." Joey nodded. Luke scoffed at him. Sigh. What is wrong with him.
"What was that reaction?" I asked with a tired face. I was way more tired than I thought I would be. He raised his eyebrows.
"He said 'Hey', You can reply with 'Hey' instead of making that hideous face. Why are you so grumpy? Huh?" I said getting irritated. This day is way too long then my liking. Ugh. "I have some work to do, You guys eat." With that said I took my bag and left not waiting for his reply or of anyone. I was hungry few mins ago but now my appetite died. I just want this day to be over. Lack of sleeping can do that to you but I know this wasn't just because of lack of sleep. I was walking, without realising I was outside in the ground. Weather was nice so I decided to sit outside. There weren't many kids. Good thing. I sat on the bench in the corner. Took out my phone and earbuds. Played my BTS playlist and rested my head on the bench with closed eyes, enjoying these couple of minutes. BTS songs are my forever mood lifters. I was into Korean dramas but not into k-pop that much, then I started listening to BTS and the rest is history.
I understand that Lucy was thankful for him to save her life and so was I, but what I don't understand is, why did she want him to eat with us. I mean she could go and say 'thank you' and that's it. Why make him eat with us? Why make him a part of our group? Ugh. And why did James have to be in class at lunch time, I mean what's more important than eating. And on the top why send a message through Joey. Why? I mean she could have texted me that she has some things to do so she can't eat with us today. Why sending Joey with this message? I don't know why I'm getting irritated so easily today. Maybe coz of lack of sleep. Ugh My head! Maybe I should just go home and rest. I don't have any important class left anyway. Hmm. I made my mind. I stood up and decided to go to my car. On second thought, I should tell Lucy that I'm leaving. Or I could simply leave a text on our group chat so that James and Lucy, both can know but it can be a bit rude maybe. I left so abruptly while Lucy was eating, It might seem a bit rude. Hm. I should tell her and leave. I went back to the cafeteria. There she was. Laughing and eating and chatting. With him. Sigh.
She saw me coming to her, with a smile she waved at me. I smiled back.
"You're back. Good. Want me to grab you food?" She asked standing up.
"Ah no, I'm going back home." I said with a tired smile. Her face showed concerned after hearing to me.
"Something's wrong?"
"No. Just a bit tired. Want to rest." I said with a straight face. I was way too tired to give any expression on my face.
"Hey Susie. I brought you food. I saw you sitting outside thought you might be hungry. Good thing you back. You should eat." Joey said handing me the bag of food.
"I..Uh, I was going home." With a confused smile held the bag.
"Oh. Sick? Not feeling well? Want me to drive you home?" He's cute with that worried face. Before I could answer Lucy jumped in the conversation.
"Yes. That's a good Idea. You should drive her home. Or I'll be worried the rest of the day. She looks pretty tired." She was smiling as if she was upto something. My brain can't process anything now.
"No. It's okay. I'll be fine. You have classes to attend." I said wearing a tired smile.
"C'mon, I'll drive you home. We don't have any important class left." He said taking me bags and leaving. No choice but to follow him. He has my bag. Ahh. And the way he said 'we' left Lucy and Joey with different expressions. But I didn't have the time to explain or understand anything.
"Hey, wait!" I ran upto him.
"What are you doing? Give me my bag. I can drive myself." Ignored. Ahg! what's with him. Why is he so grumpy. WHY!
"Get in." Opened the passenger seat door for me. Huh. I can open door for myself. I got in. Seat is pretty comfortable. Nice. He got in throwing my bag in backseat and handing the food bag to me.
"Eat." With a authoritative tone he said.
"Watch your tone." Took the burger out of the bag. He rolled his eyes. I rolled back. Heh. Back at ya! Jerk! Hmm. Burger is tasty. My appetite is back. I took a sip from my Cola. Ah wow refreshing. Wah! Food can solve 80% of the problems. He kept peeking at my direction. He has a thing for peeking I guess. He is always peeking. His peeking is making the atmosphere in the car awkward. Maybe he's hungry? I tried lightning the mood.
"Want a sip?" I asked lifting the cup to his lips. He chuckled. UwU, He's kinda cute when he actually smiles instead of smirking. Eh! Get your mind together and maybe hormones too.
"My arm is hurting." I shaked the cup in front of his lips. He took the cup from my hand and took a sip. A big sip!
"Thank you." He said handing back the cup. I nodded. Satisfied. Huh? I dunno why I felt satisfied but I did. Weird alert!
"A bite?" Peeked at my burger. Ah he was hungry. Okay. Explains the peeking.
I unwrapped the burger a bit more and handed him the burger.
"I'm driving." He commented. Oof. I took the burger to his lips. Why am I feeding him again? Well atleast it's better than the awkward silence.
"You didn't eat?" I asked confused. He was with Lucy in the cafeteria the entire time. He must have ate. No?
"Nope." He answered looking straight at the road.
"Why? Why did you join us if you weren't going to eat?" I was getting irritated again for some unknown reason.
"Your friend dragged me. After you left she kept talking, I was a bit uncomfortable to eat. She talks a lot." I chuckled at his words.
"She's a chatter box." I said looking at him, smiling. He smiled back. Hm. The drive isn't that bad. If I have to describe the ride in me word it would be, comfortable? I don't know. As irritating as he is, I find myself strangely comfortable with him. Maybe that's just his aura. Lucy is pretty comfortable with him too. This thought made me a bit sad. Maybe I'm just overthinking. He has a comforting aura, I concluded. No need to get your panties in twist Susan!
