The sound of the glass breaking echoes around the room. It was then, followed by a loud footsteps rushing towards the door.
"Your majesty!" Calcifer called as he opened the door.
Seeing the queen fell on her knees while holding her big tummy might be the reason that the flower vase was now broken on the floor.
"My queen, are you alright?" He rushed to her side and helped her stand.
He then, escorted her to sit on the bed. Slowly and gently. The queen panted as beads of sweat began to fall from her forehead. Seeing her in such pain troubled the knight and knelled on one knee.
Calcifer held her hand, "My queen, please think this over again..." He pleaded and glanced at her tummy.
"That child... is eating away all your power. If we didn't do something, your majesty... You'll surely die!" His voice was trembling in anguish.
Just the thought of the queen, lying on a coffin makes his heart break a thousand times.
Why? Why does the queen care for this child so much? This child that is not even pure-blooded, who doesn't belong to them.
What's more, this child is a fruit from someone he doesn't even know, from someone who's different from them.
Yes, he made an oath to protect this child with his life. He did it all for the queen, his savior.
And yet... how he wished...
How he wished this child would never been born.
The sun couldn't be more beautiful as it begins to set. But it would be so nice if it will be watched with someone you cared for. And how this lad wished Yana was beside him as he sits on on the bench.
"It's good to be out again!" He stretched his arms and then looked around the park that he has never seen for three days.
Even he's enjoying watching the children play, he still can't shake this feeling of agony deep inside him.
"Why do I feel so... lonely?" He mumbled.
And then, he suddenly heard a voice inside his mind,
'Don't tell me... You missed that human girl?' It was his vampire self.
'Yana... She, doesn't want to see me anymore...' He became gloomy again.
The voice answered, 'Then what are you moping around? Forget about her! Humans are nothing but food to us.'
Rae frowned, 'Sorry, I don't drink blood. It's disgusting!'
He rose up from his seat and started to walk away from the park. When he passed by near the karaoke house, he saw Yana going out of the said building. In such panic, Rae hid behind the tree.
'Isn't that the human girl?' The voice asked.
"Yana..." Rae whispered and made a painful expression while watching the lass from afar.
Yana waved goodbye to Ella and their classmates and walked along while carrying a bouquet of flowers.
'Well look at her, she's happy without you.' The voice said mockingly.
That made Rae lost his confidence.
"Yana, if I only caused you harm... then I won't let you see me again..." He sighed and was about to walk away when he heard a screeching sound.
He turned around and saw a truck getting out of control. The truck was about to hit the kid on the road when Yana rushed and saved the kid.
The vehicle finally stopped. The people around went to check the kid who's now crying. Yana turned and walked towards the driver who just came out of the truck.
"Hey! Watch where you drive! You could've killed the kid!" She scolded.
What's weird is the driver walked in an unnatural way like someone who's drunk. What's more, there are bubbles foaming out of his mouth as he glared at the lass with his red eyes.
'A vampire!'
It was too late to run. The vampire jumped at her.
'YANA!' Rae was about to reach her but it looks like he won't make it in time. She's too far away from him.
Like her adrenaline rush, she moved her arm and swing the bouquet on the vampire's face. And after that moment, she realized what she had done.
"Oh no.." She nervously mumbled not because she hit the vampire. It's about something else that made her regret of what she did.
"Look what you did!" She exclaimed to the vampire in front of her, "If you didn't scare the hell out of me, I wouldn't hit this bouquet on your face!" She scolded and heaved a sigh.
"Now what would I do? This was supposed to be for my friend..." She gloomily said as she stared at the tattered flowers.
All the people around were surprised at the lass' bravery. But the one who's more surprised is Rae who heard everything she said.
'For... her friend?' He thought and remembered those flowers that Rin placed on the vase in his room.
"Then all of those... came from Yana?" He couldn't believe himself.
The vampire screamed in rage as it transformed into a monster bat. All the people around ran in fright of what they've seen. It was about to swing its sharp claws on Yana when Rae jumped high and landed his foot on its head that it strongly hit the ground.
"Rae?" The lass couldn't believe her eyes. The one she misses the most is now finally in front of her.
Rae turned around to face the monster bat who's now burning in anger because of what he did.
"Don't you dare... touch her!" His eyes glowed in red and his hair turned longer and bloody red. His vampire self is back once again!
His dark aura made the monster bat flinched in fear.
"I hate wasting my time on weaklings like you!"
Without further ado, he rushed and dug his sharp nails on its chest, gauging its heart into his hand. And then, he smashed it without giving the monster bat a chance to deliver its attack. With that, it slowly turned to ashes.
"Tch! Filthy vampire!" He frowned as he shook the blood off of his hand.
"And now, for my prey--" He froze when he turned to face Yana as tears stream down her cheeks.
"Hey! Why are you crying?" He was confused that he began to panic. It's his first time seeing a girl cry in front of him.
Yana sniffed, "Because..." She was interrupted when Rae felt some people coming on their way.
"Tch! Let's talk somewhere else!" He annoyingly said and suddenly carried her as he jumped high from roof to roof.
He landed on the roof top of one of those buildings and placed her on the ground. She seemed to have calm down a little.
"Tss... What a pain. There's nothing to cry about, human!"
"How can I?" She raised her voice much to his surprise.
"I was worried... I thought you're still asleep... I thought I won't be able to see you again!" She cried once again.
And the vampire in front of her is perplexed of the reason behind her tears.
'Is she... worried?' He blinked fast and tried to shake the thought off.
'Ha! As if. Why would she worry on a vampire like me?'
"I'm glad..." She continued, "I'm glad you're alright, Rae. I... missed you!" She smiled gently even in tears. A genuine smile that shines upon him.
Why?
Despite the fact that he attacked her on their first meeting, how can she still smile and worry for someone like him?
Just having these thoughts made a loud thump in his heart. What is this feeling? Why did he suddenly feel hot?
Confused with this, the vampire turned his gaze away and cleared his throat.
"W-what are you saying? Of course I'll recover! I'm strong and I won't be defeated with such a mere battle!" He defended as he crossed his arms to his chest.
The lass noticed how his face turned red in embarrassment that she can't help but giggle.
"What's so funny?" He raised an eye brow, "You should be terrified of me."
"Terrified? Why would I? I was sick worrying for you and even brought you flowers. Tell me, is that what you call terrified?"
The vampire blushed even more, "S-so it was you... No wonder it smells awful in my room." He looked away again.
Yana frowned, "What did you say? If you don't like it, just say so. Then I wouldn't bring again next time!"
"Then don't! Who told you to bring me flowers anyway?"
"How ungrateful!" She crossed her arms to her chest and then she took a deep breath.
"Even you're Rae's exact opposite, you're still part of him. And that wouldn't change the fact that I'm glad you're both okay." She mumbled without looking at him.
Rae rubbed the back of his head, "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let's get out of here." He said as the night is slowly approaching.
He carried her once again and jumped down the ground where no one can see them.
'Tch! You win this time, human girl.' The vampire smirked as he decided not to eat her for the meantime.
Just in time when they landed, Rae was back in his human form.
"Where am... Yana?" He blinked few times and gazed at the lass on his arms.
"Welcome back, Rae!" She smiled.
With that, he knew, she's not someone who'll leave him like that. Because Yana is his real friend.
As fast as he can, he brought Yana back to her home as well as to his room since he just sneaked in, thanks to Rin's help.
Just in time when he arrived his room, someone knocked on the door.
"Young master, it's me, Calcifer." He informed before opening the door.
"Cal, what is it?"
The gentleman's face is clouded and in deep trouble.
"Young master, forgive me for I have sinned against you..." He mumbled.
Seems like he knows what Calcifer is talking about. But he decided to pretend,
"What do you mean?"
"I... lied to you about miss Yana... What I said about her, being terrified of you is not true. In fact, she always visits you. So persistent, she's not showing any sign of fear despite my warning. She... truly cares for you." He confessed.
"Cal... Why did you lie?"
"I'm sorry! I only did that to protect you, young master. I was afraid that you'll get hurt more if you stay by her side. But I was wrong... I accept any punishment you'll give for my impudence." He knelled in one knee.
"Cal, get up." Rae commanded, "I appreciate your honesty. I also apologize for not understanding how much you wanted to protect me. And with that, I thanked you." He smiled.
"Young master..." The gentleman rose up.
"I won't punish you. I don't want to do that to my friends." His smile and gentle voice reminded him of the queen.
He might not inherited her green eyes nor the features of her face. But his kindness, his sweet smile, no doubt he's the son of the vampire queen.
"I am delighted of your kindness, young master." Calcifer bowed his head.
And from the door, the triplets and Primo saw what happened.
"I'm glad they're in good terms now." Rin sighed in relief.
"Thanks to us! If we didn't trigger Cal's guilt then this drama wouldn't end." Said Ren.
"Miss Yana didn't do anything wrong. She just helped the young master, that's why she doesn't deserve to be apart from her friend." Rin added.
"It's all thanks to Primo too." Ran said.
"What? Me?"
Ran nodded, "If you didn't tell the whole story, we wouldn't be able to convince Cal."
"Yeah, I've got to admit, it's not likely you to side on humans but this is an exception." Ren said.
Primo cleared his throat, "I-I'm just doing what I think is right! It's not that I like humans or anything." He defended.
But these triplets know that the small bat is grateful for Yana's bravery of not leaving them alone that fateful night.
Several miles away from their location, the city's airport can be found. The business of people still lingers around, be it with the sadness of going away or the happiness of arriving.
One woman belongs to the latter, as she dragged her suitcase towards the exit. She was welcomed by her driver and escorted her inside the car. Well, no one would do so because no one was informed of her arrival.
"Should we head straight to your hotel, madam?" The driver asked, glancing at the rear view mirror of the car.
"Yes, I should have a good rest because..." She said and glanced at the window.
"Tomorrow I'll be visiting someone special." She smirked with her dark red lips as her white fangs show.
