Jesse looked at his watch. It was midnight. Renee should have been home fifteen minutes ago. He went to the front door and opened it. He was worried. It had started snowing and sticking to the ground. Maybe she was just driving slower due to the weather. He closed the door and went back into the living room. He picked up his phone and called her. It just rang until her voicemail picked up. Why hadn’t she called him to tell him she’d be late? And why wasn’t she picking up the phone?
