1. Settling In

AMIRA

WE finally get to the school, and it's huge. My previous school wasn't this huge, it's practically a castle. Not exaggerating.

The chauffeur stops the car when we get to front of the school, gets down and opens the door for my mum and I, which I do not really entertain. I see a bald man heading towards my mum and I, which I'm guessing is the headmaster. He shakes my mum's hand and tries to shake mine, but I just stare at him with a bored face.

If I get to stay in this hellhound, I get to do whatever I want. She's joking if she thinks she's going to get me to change, especially for her.

She stares at me, I stare back, but with a smirk on my face. It's funny watching her embarrassed of me, but I'm not bothered, because the feeling is mutual momma.

She sighs and engages in a conversation with the headmaster, whom I guessed correctly.

"I know it's a bit late to get into a new school, but this is necessary, remember what we discussed over the phone Festus." she gives a look, he glances towards me for a second and looks back at her then agrees.

"Thank you for understanding." she smiles a little

He turns to me "I have already made a time table for you." he hands me a paper.

"Well Amira, I hope you obey all the school rules because you are not getting into a new one." she warns me.

"Oh please that was only one time, I didn't get kicked out of my previous school. You just decided to send me here because you hate me, and besides even if I get kicked out, your husband could just erase all my data and I could start afresh, or isn't that what rich people do mother dear." I look at her innocently She just stares at me like she couldn't believe I just embarrassed her in front of my new principal. Well I don't really care were all human.

I take my things from Darwin, the chauffeur and head inside the building even though I have absolutely no idea where I'm heading to. As I continue walking, I hear heels following behind me. Ugh why can't she just leave me alone, isn't this what she wanted. To be far away as possible from me.

"Amira wait!" I walk faster when I hear her.

"Amira! please wait. It is really difficult to run in heels."

"You should've thought of that before choosing to wear it!" I yell back

"I didn't know I was going to chase you around in your new school." I finally stop, because this is too dramatic for my liking.

"Thank God." I hear her whisper. She finally catches up to me and caught her breath for a few seconds before talking again.

"Amira when will you accept Jack as your father?" she asks me

"When pigs start to fly." I answer her smiling sarcastically.

"Can you just be serious for once."

"You already sent me here, what more could you want from me?" I glare at her. I am losing my patience.

"I just want you to know..." she's about to say something, but she doesn't.

"You want me to what?" I look at her uninterested

"I..." and she does it again.

"Look mum, if you don't have anything to say, then please let me go, because the more time I spend here, the more I want to leave." She looks at me like she's hurt, but I know it's fake, she never loved me and she probably never will, that's why I put my guards up.

"Just... be good." she says

She lets go of my hand that I didn't know she was even holding. It felt like she was really letting me go. For a second there, I thought she was going to tell me that she loves me. Maybe if she did, I might actually be okay attending this new school. So I just sigh and shake my head at her then I leave her there.

I am introduced to my new room minutes after I leave my mother. The secretary gives me the timetable for my classes and extracurricular activities. I get all my bags and start unpacking, but before that I take my surroundings in. The room is neat, has a lot of books and some quotes on the walls. It's too organized, meaning... BORING. Whatever, at least it's not some bimbo. I take out my iPod from my bag and play some music. I'm more of a soul person, and since I'm not very happy about my current dilemma, I play Lana Del Rey.

When I'm done packing I lay on my bed allowing myself drift to the thinking part of my brain.

"Ugh I really don't want to be here. I wish you were here dad. I really miss you." I take my necklace and fiddle with it in my dad. This is the only valuable item I have. "I wish there was a way I could just see you... well except for in my dreams, because that's almost every time and it's starting to freak me out honestly." I sigh. " I just know you're not gone, I can feel it. I really sound crazy haha."

"Yes you do."

"Aaaah!" I scream, surprised to find out that I haven't been alone.

"What the hell! Who are you?" I yell

"Sorry I'm Samantha. This is my room. I uh don't know who you are." She seems a bit scared.

Well this is irritating. "You could've said something."

"I did." She replies.

I glare at her.

"You think this is a joke. You can't just sneak up on people, it's rude. Don't you have manners." I whisper the last part and sit up properly.

"Oh sorry. It's just that no one ever comes here." She looks down, while playing with her fingers.

"Whatever don't do that again." I stand up from the bed and walk towards the door. As I am about to leave, I hear her say something but I didn't get it so I leave. I'm not in the chatty mood.

I decide to leave this floor and go outside, since I won't obviously be interested in staring at people's doors.

I think I'm at the back of the school, because right now I'm seeing woods. I wonder if students are allowed here. There's no sign saying we're not allowed here.

I feel like going further into the woods, but I have this strong feeling I should leave. I can sense something's wrong somehow.

I get to the room to see Samantha carrying hundreds of books in her hands. 'This is a weird one' I think. I slam the door and head to my bed, but I hear her books fall out of surprise.

She is shaking from fear. I almost laugh.

"Now you know how it feels." I look at her. I hear her sigh as she bends down to collect them.

Great now I feel bad. I stand up from the bed to help her. As I pick up the books she squeals.

"I don't bite." I state

"Sorry." She looks down.

"Why are you apologizing, I scared you."

"I did it first." She said and she actually looked me at while saying it. Well that's progress.

"I'm Amira." I tell her

She gave me a small smile. "I'm Samantha."

"I know, you already told me."

"Oh... sorry... thanks."

"You need to stop that." I close my eyes.

"What?" I can feel her look at me.

"Stop apologising, it's annoying."

"Oh sorry." I look at her this time.

"I meant uh whatever." She says it like she unsure.

I laugh a little, because it's funny. She stares at me for a while then she smiles.

"Um why did you move schools?" She asks me.

I look at her not saying anything. We're now both standing up and dropping the books on her shelf.

I don't want her to know that transferred because of my bad reputation.

"My mother just thought it would be a better experience for me." I can't look at her.

"Oh and a boarding school was her first option?"

"Tell me about it. Although I'd rather be here than be back in the house anyway."

"Oh..." she doesn't say anything.

I walk to my bed and sit. "So what's your own story?" I ask her

"You didn't exactly tell me anything interesting."

'Okay' is the only thing I can think of. "If you didn't want to say anything it's fine, you should've just said so." This is what I get when I finally try to be nice. Whatever. I'm about to lie down and face the other way of the other side of the room.

"Sorry... my parents told me to come here for proper training." She scratches her neck and looks down at her feet.

"Proper training? What are you, a trouble child?" I chuckle a little knowing it's a bit ironic.

"What?! No..." she laughs a bit, then continues. "No, I just... my parents thought it would be nice if I came here seeing as they both attended this school."

I look at her for a while as she sits on her bed, then I begin laughing.

"Oh oh cute. So basically your parents wants you find a boyfriend here and get married to him like they did." I say

"You know, I never thought of it that way." Samantha states at me for a while, then burst into stiffs of laughter and so do I.
