Chapter 4

Marianne woke up with a start, when this happened she lost all sense of time. At the first moment of opening her eyes she tried to remember what day it was but after a few seconds, it was just as if the time and date wasn't the most important thing of all. She stood up with a start for the door leading to the King and Queen's bedroom suddenly opened. To her relief, it was just her husband Hendred, who greeted her with a warm-filled smile. She tried to say "Good morning my love!" but not a single word or sound was uttered from her mouth. She tried this several times but it was just as if she didn't have a voice anymore, her husband, who was completely oblivious about this said, "Honey, our son is in the lab coming up with a new concoction." Before she can even try to say anything, the King grabbed her hand and gently yanked her arm forcing her out of the bed. She was dragged to the lab where one of their son's were doing something, they opened the door to the room, but to her surprise she can't figure out which son was doing the mixing of chemicals. Marianne was dumbfounded at what was happening, thus, she tried to ask him to speak saying, "My son can you say something?" To her surprise he spoke but it wasn't the voice of one of her sons, it was of both. Their two voices where completely synced with each other.

On her face was visible confusion , although she was somewhat relieved to have her voice back, so he asked her son a question that she truly wanted to be answer, "What is your name?" When she tried to ask this, no voice came out from her mouth. Anxiety was slowly creeping and taking over her body and mind, this was the first time in her life that she can't use her secret ability and this was the first time in her life where she felt so vulnerable.

But deep down inside of her something or someone was urging her to not worry and to release the anxiety and wariness deep into the forgotten parts of the abyss, and that is what she did. For several hours the family was happily fondling around the different things in the laboratory, different minerals, chemicals, and other scientific instruments from the different parts of the United Lands have all been collected and used here, it was at noon when the couple decide to stop joking around and eat their lunch, until the son said something, "Mom, dad, one more thing before we go please?"

The mother and father quickly agreed and the boy happily responded and hugged the both of them, when the son hugged Marianne, she felt something stiff and cold near the neck of her son, when the boy released his grip from his mother the Queen saw a weird looking stone, that she somewhat knew but can't recall. Once again, the voice inside her head, shrugged the idea away.

She closely watched her son do the mixing of several chemicals, when there were two beakers left, the son abruptly said, "This will solve all of our problems!" When he said this he poured the unknown mineral into the beaker.

For several seconds, nothing happened, then the mixture went out of control, it exploded, sending several sharp objects flying to different directions of the lab, this soon resulted in a big chain reaction, setting fire the different instruments and things in the laboratory, before anybody could think of anything to do, they were soon covered by flames.

The Queen who was engulfed in flames, didn't feel any pain at all, for she was motionless and dumbfounded, for the place where his son was once standing, was now being filled by a person who had a black, menacing aura, running all over the place.

The unidentified person laughed, and the Queen recognized his laughter for the last time.

That was what she thought, but suddenly she felt all weightless and began to fly up into the sky, Marianne looked down, to see her body, but to her astonishment nothing was there, and there were no flames at all, everything was perfectly fine. She then proceeded her travel to the top of the clouds but before she can even go near one of them, the flying stopped. She was stuck in the middle of the air. She looked down on the world that she once lived in and felt a strong pang of nostalgia hit her even though it was only a few minutes ago that she left.

She then recalled everything that happened in her life, not regretting a single moment of it, then she noticed a black dot on the place her body was last standing on.

The black dot began to grow, slowly devouring everything in its path. The once lush green plains were now darkness. It soon slowly crept throughout the land, leaving no trace of light. All that she thought was that this was the abomination that her son had created. Yet the voice inside her head convinced her that it wasn't, at that point in time, she did not recall anything.

All that she felt was pity, sadness, and regret for the things that happened that she can't even remember. Tears were beginning to form on the rims of her eyes. Marianne didn't know why she was even feeling this, her heart was acting on its own accord.

She tried to hold back the tears but everything inside her suddenly burst open, she just can't stop crying, no matter how hard she tried to restrain herself.

While crying she felt that her body was slowly dissolving, and some parts of her body felt nothing already. Before she can even disappear from existence, she kept on shouting to herself.

"Is this the end?! Is this the end!? IS THIS THE END?!"

And, she felt that her body was gone, and she was gone. The whole world, that she used to live in was now covered in darkness. It was all over.
