"Sir! Sir!" Akbar came out of his thoughts when someone called him. He had been doing his work in the study ever since, and it was getting late.
"Yes?" He asked the servant. He hesitated a bit and then said, "That madam is still here."
"Who? And why are you telling this to me this late?" Akbar stood up abruptly from his seat.
"Sir! I came to tell you, but you were working, so I did not disturb you." The servant explained, but now it didn't matter. When he entered the dining hall, Hoorain was sitting on the sofa with her head bowed and her eyes closed. She didn't even open her eyes at the sound of his footsteps.
"What are you doing here till now? I already told you to go away." Akbar asked loudly, this startled her and she opened her eyes. Then she recovered herself from the temporary shock and smiled warmly at him, sitting upright in the process.
