The Mana Root farm

After the team got back to the reef, things had been slow. The main, or most of the duties that they were performing were related to the protection of the Mana Root sprouts. There were eight hundred of them, so naturally, they had to patrol a portion of the reef and see if anyone was messing with the roots.

From what Genta described, the sprouting roots were very fragile. This was why they had transformed the reef to begin with, because the sprouts were fragile, and only hardened at the latter stages of their maturity, when they didn’t have to be monitored as much. If they don't protect the roots now, the numbers of healthy plants could go down from eight-hundred, to only a dozen quite quickly!
