"Hi Jack, how are you?" Anna asked, tad concerned after the call got answered.
"I'm good, just handling things." The boxer answers as he gazes at Amar jumping from furniture to furniture.
"Oh nice, haven't heard of you all day so I got worried... What's all that noise?" All the commotion got Anna tad spooked, she can even hear Ali yelling at the boy to slow down.
Unsure about how much he should tell Anna about another person's private life, Jack tries to beat around the bush. "Just here home with Ali's nephew. He's... energetic right now."
Ding dong.
The bell echoed, muffling any sound the two guests are making, a second after Anna asks. "Oh so it's a bad time to drop by then?"
Rushing towards the door, not quite hearing what she said, Jack murmurs "Just a minute." And takes a glance through the door's peephole.
Opening it, Jack's face changes for the better, a smile growing and tone sharing a bliss. "Oh you're here!"
Finally managing to hold the boy in one place, noticing Anna on the door, Ali slightly shouts. "Hi redhead."
In another way, this shows that the nice middle aged man isn't quite worried about the lady walking into such a delicate scene. So Jack immediately invites her in and locks the door.
"So... what's going on here?" Anna questions, having it hard to comprehend. Noticing a weird, overworked smile on Amar's face, she speaks her worry out loud. "Is he on crack?"
"No, not exactly but he is kind of high... in a way." Jack slightly murmured, not quite sure how to explain this situation.
Ali helps break a tad of confusion with a little introduction. "This is my nephew, Amar."
"Hi Amar. I'm Anna." The lady uttered, taking a couple of shots until she pronounced the name correctly and moving towards a fluffy one person sofa to take a seat. "Why is he jumpy?"
Jack instantly takes a look at Ali, silence stretches for a second until the oldest of this group figures out why he's silent, and decides to shed light upon the subject. "He's a vampire, like Jack. We gave him a meal and now he thinks he's a bobcat."
Her eyes quite open, not sure what to think about this since she never saw Jack behave like a feline, the lady looks at Jack and asks. "Is he going to be okay?"
Wearing an assuring face but yet still rushing through the sentences, Jack deciphers. "Yes yes most definitely. Should take about 30 more minutes for him to calm down, he's learning to control his powers."
Having other doubts, Ali adds. "I think that grape juice was mixed with vodka."
"That's not how it works..." Jack corrects, understanding the concern this man is carrying but of course has to clear it out as well since all of this was his idea. "These are just happy hormones, he was slowly deprived from them for 17 years. So now all happy hormones are hitting him at once."
Still having it hard to understand everything Jack said, the middle aged man asks. "He's too quiet now, did it pass already?"
"Anna pretty." Amar directly expressed and immediately got a smack behind the head by his uncle.
"Oh that's why he's calm..." Jack added, finding this actually cute and having it hard to not laugh, holding himself steady with good effort. "You came here at the best time Anna!"
Feeling tad uncomfortable because of all the trouble she's facing lately because of physical attraction, Anna tries to get out of this as nicely as one can. "Can we turn on the tv or something?"
"Right." Jack utters and dashes towards the tv, grabbing the remote and backing away after.
The tv this man owns is staggering considering the 6,000,000£ in the bank. It's old, not even a flat screen tv but those old ones that have a big heavy body instead. Possibly manufactured in 2005.
Buying habits can tell a lot about a person, and Jack's apartment barely breaks above average, expensive-wise.
Soon as he turned on the tv, the news shone with the unique voice any newsman or lady has. In this case, it's a lady and she has started a topic about the 'Masked Crusher'.
If Ali wasn't busy holding his nephew down, the man would instantly notice that Jack is the boxer in question once noticing how Jack and Anna looked at each other with enlarged eyes.
The news lady laid out the brief summary of what's happening, "Legendary heavyweight boxer known only as 'masked crusher' has dropped out of a fight just days ago that ended his career. And the media isn't happy."
This can never be good but no one had the motivation to speak and muffle the news with a conversation, so they can only hear the news lady continue. "7 popular sport commentators have streamed a segment about the 'Masked Crusher' career. Through broadcasts they have labelled the 'Masked Crusher' as the biggest coward in professional boxing history."
To this, Jack can only sigh. He expected a bit of hate but whole broadcasts are being held regarding his... resignation. Coach Hudson will steam once hearing about this, might even round up the boys and show the broadcasters what's what.
But for now, they can only hear the news lady do her job. "Through social media, fans are expressing their rage through 'memes' and harsh comments. Samples can be found on our website, parental permission required."
"Well, that's not nice. Poor guy." Amar expressed and got everyone tad staggered.
Ali decided to express that shared feeling with a half offension. "Wow you started saying normal stuff again."
With what his uncle said earlier, imprinted in the boy's head, he stretches out and explains. "Yeah I think the food vodka is wearing off."
Becoming tad annoyed by such expression, Jack deciphers once more. "It's not vodka, just a smart combination of food befitting a vampire."
Considering the topic, the oldest vampire here pitches. "I will write a diet plan for you but I need time. Until then, don't try the same combination again. Especially if I'm not around."
Having an extra minute to think about why Anna is here, Ali looks at his nephew and expresses. "That's perfect, I trust you. Now me and Amar will be going, it's been a long day."
Wanting to make the guests feel welcome, Jack insists. "You can stay, we're all friends here. I live alone."
Spotting that Anna's eyes are still on the tv, Ali nods her head towards her, signifying to Jack what this excusement is about. The well mannered man wants to give this couple some privacy.
Well it's weird how Ali thinks that they are a couple but yet again Jack never directly refused the term so Ali's confusion can be refused here. "No no, we need to discuss this with his father as well. I will call you again Jack."
Trying to not be so specific about Anna's personal life, Jack adds. "I will stop by your restaurant tomorrow, for the thing."
As the two guests left, kindly accompanied and greeted all the way to the door, Jack returns to Anna and immediately gets a call.
It's none other than coach Hudson Lace, must have heard the news. "Are you fucking seeing what I am?"
"Yes, this is bad." Jack answers immediately after and expects the worst of the worst from the coach.
But thankfully not doing anything drastic, the coach yells through the phone. "I'm having Tim look up some of the broadcasters, I will go ask them to delete the bullshit they posted!"
At the same time, Anna whispers. "Take it off speaker phone."
His eyes wide, Jack nods his head left to right and whispers back. "It's not even on..."
"Jack don't ignore me Jack!" The coach yelled once more and heard Anna's giggle after.
Therefore calling for her, "Anna, are you there girl?"
Holding away a giggle, the red headed lady answers. "I'm here."
Continuing to yell, giving Jack the breeze of not tapping the speaker option, the Coach hollers. "Tomorrow on 4pm, make sure that Jack meets me at a radio station or microphone station or whatever these blasted new fangles are called! I will negotiate an interview, we have to clear the boy's name!"
"Tim will send you the location by phone, you two just have to come there." It's obvious that Hudson is boiling, much angrier than Jack when we list the examples.
Answering shortly, easily assuring it, Anna slightly yells. "Got it coach."
Hollering a hunch less this time, Lace speaks up. "Okay, thank you. I have stuff to do now so, good day."
"You heard the coach, I'm in charge of you now." Anna teased, trying to lift up the mood of the slightly depressed boxer.
Tad staggered, Jack expresses. "Wow he does trust you, usually he comes and picks me up."
"Yeah. So what do we do now?" Anna asked, indeed a question that can easily be misunderstood.
Tad embarrassed, Jack stretches a word. "Uhhh..."
Enjoying his expression a litte, Anna still clears out. "Oh don't make that face, you know what I mean. I was bored and wanted company."
Making the situation tad harder to face, Anna deciphers. "I will sleep here tonight. I have 12 more days to relax and want to share it with my friend."
Explaining that she won't be manipulated under such a situation, Jack cites. "Looks like I will sleep on the sofa again."
