Scent

THIRD-PERSON P.O.V

The day was coming closer, only a few more days for that final day.

She would be broken, she would be drunk out of her mind.

She will try her best not to kill herself.

She promised it.

She always kept her promise.

Thought of her ran through his mind, he still remembered her scent, her face, her hair, her favorites, how much she adored pineapple, and loathed strawberry. How pink made her cringe and blue bought out the color of her eyes.

Blue like the ocean, her hair red, fiery just like her personality.

Her height, she was tall but only enough to touch his shoulder, her curves, the lines of her palm, the words she would say every time he rolled his eyes. He remembered her.

All of her.

Even after years.

When was the last time he had seen her?

5.....5years ago.

And yet even after 5 years he still remembered everything about her.

Even her scent.

It was different, unique it wasn't objective like strawberry or citrus.

It was sweet, fresh with a hint of mischief, devilish mischief.

It was toxic, addictive, so earthly but incomparable.

It was like petrichor.

Like earth and nature.

There were nights he couldn't breathe, his lungs wouldn't except the oxygen that wasn't wrapped around her aroma, herself.

He used to cry from suffocation.

Suffocation from the scarcity of her presence.

He had her hope though, he had her support. He still had that one thing that kept him alive, kept him going.

Kept him from going insane.

The dumbles fell down from his hands, hitting the floor with a thud.

Today was one of those nights, where he was suffocating.

But he couldn't do anything so he distracted himself with the workout.

Not that it was working, but releasing the tension and energy.

At least he would be able to sleep tonight because of body fatigue.

He sighed.

Sweat rolled down his head, passing golden blonde, traveling his neck, across his broad sculpted shoulders.

The droplets ran down his spinal cord then finally getting absorbed in the tank top, just above his waistband.

His blue eyes closed he didn't want to see anything but her.

His redheaded love, his blue-eyed life.

The cold bustling wind was no help.

His heavy breathing and glistening body said it all.

He stood up ready to go shower when his phone rang.

Answering the phone he held it near his left ear.

The curves in his arms, those defined biceps, bulging.

His body wasn't wide in width but broad and muscled, though he was lean In a way.

"She has a cut on her forehead," The person on the other side said.

"She is emotionless"

" A Walking sculpture"

"I think its time you meet her" The person breathed.

"I'm coming its time to break promises" He answered, before ending the call.

Then in the dimly lit night, head down.

He smiled

Smirked

Then announced in that empty gym room.

"Its Time To Meet Alaaiya Cassendria Clare"

CLARE

"My name is Alaaiya Cassendria Clare"

"You know what happened to my family, due to the storm in the city the rest of my family, uncle, aunt, cousins.

They couldn't come to the town for a whole week and I was left alone in the hospital"

"Danny stayed with me for that week, the doctors discussed everything with him, my mental, physical and emotional state, and other things"

"He visited me to check up on me these 6 years, I was not in a good place he would talk to me, monologue in front of me actually, talking about you all.

He told me what Mrs. Rodgers cooked best, what you cooked worst but never told her that, what his kids were studying what they were planning for the future stuff like that"

"I tried giving him cash every time he came, he needed it and deserved it too, but he wouldn't take it after a few blackmail he agreed but bargained.

Bargained and took as little as possible.

I just wanted for you all to live a comfortable life, because no matter what I could never return the favor, so..."

"This is what I owe him" I answered looking at Carl

"I'm not his mistress or daughter, I'm nobody" I answer looking at Mrs. Rodgers

"I'm just a friend he wanted to help and I wanted to help back" I answered looking at Carlson.

"Uhm.. ill give you a minute to process it and talk ... I'll be outside, call me when you all are ready, I would need to talk to Danny alone" with that I stood up wiping my sweaty palms on my dress trying to ease the knot around my throat I walked out.

Settling down on the porch stairs I looked around, blocking all the memories, all the thoughts.

Trying to be as neutral as possible.

About a minute later someone cleared his throat, I looked up to see Mason standing.

He seated next to me and tried hugging me sideways.

I stiffened.

"You knew," I said looking ahead, on the empty road lighted by the orange lights of sun rays.

"Not all, I knew dad was taking care of someone in the hospital right after he got your...case, I had my suspicions," He said with a small smile.

"You never believed your mom's assumptions and doubts either" I stated again.

"I trust my father and believed my mom but waited for the truth before coming to any conclusion," He said smiling the same smile again.

"Hmm," I hummed looking at the glistening grass.

"By the way, you always had this talent or you trained yourself?"

He asked amusement shining in his eyes.

"What talent?" I asked

"Talent of handling situations like this so ......stonily"

"Born talented" I smirked.

He chuckled

After a few breaths, he asked "Why do you always show false emotions?"

"Because I don't have real ones" I replied, HE NOTICED.

"I was going to wait for this but I am asking now, would you like to go on a date with me?" He asked smiling bashfully.

"I don't date" I answered

"One night stands?" He asked with a skeptical brow.

"Nope, I only do forever" And with that, I stood up. Smiling. He never saw.

"race me!, you win I take you on a date, I win you take me on a date" He smirked.

I did need a date to visit uncle Cole's house.

I smirked.

"3

2

1"

We ran.

I'll admit it right now

I'm competitive.

Very competitive and that's probably the only thing left in me.

So you can imagine who won.

.

.

Well nobody, the race was a tie.

So according to Mason's logic, we both have to take each other on dates.

And I didn't mind, he knew who I was and I knew I had no feeling to worry about.

Eccendentesiast.

That's what I am so I sealed the deal.

Later when I was called inside, no one looked me in the eye.

Everyone practically scurried away as soon as I walked in, leaving me and Danny alone.

Mason stayed outside.

"I'm sorry Alaaiya" Danny apologized again

"Its okay Danny" I answered

Nodding hesitantly he took a chit from his pocket and handed it to me

Unfolding it I read the message.
