Chapter 13: School Escape

With a fight imminent, I prepared to use my Sword art at them, but Max blew them away with the wind. They couldn’t do anything about the wind blowing on them. But before totally being blown away, they were able to stand up and call for backup. It was a short distance to the exits from the CAT office but as soon I left the room, I saw a Mechanical Dragoon, a robotic half-man half-dragon hybrid looking creature, flying down into the quadrangle. I tried to escape from it, but it blasted a charge at me, and it was too fast. To fight it, I should assimilate my movement techniques.

While this is all happening, the SWAT looking guards of the school are getting into their positions to surround us. One of the guards shouted, “The punishment for trespassing here is death, according to the rules!” I then replied, “This is my school. What are you talking about? What rules?” The guard replied, “Nice try. It has been a very long time since the school has stopped operating." After he said those words, I thought about how long we were gone for them to say that the school has stopped operating. Afterward, it looked like the guard I was talking to, received some instructions and shouted, “Clearance granted for lethal force. Capture targets dead or alive.” As soon as he relayed his announcement, they each took out a brooch showing the logo of my school and pinned it on their chests. It enabled them to get equipped with exoskeleton armor.

I see guards and one dragoon here, but I also hear vehicles from the outside parking. More guards might be coming. I then coordinated with Max. I'll handle the dragoon since it is just a robot and Max will deal with the guards since I’m not confident that I can disable them without killing them off because my strength has just increased and I haven’t really gauged how strong I am. From the novel, I should have around 100kg of strength from my mana cultivation and since my body got conditioned already, it should have the strength of around 45 megagrams.

I immediately used my Sword art which like my cultivation art, points to the very essence of swordsmanship. I can only do one move, but I know countless ways to apply it, making it a tough move to counterattack. I also coated my weapon with sword intent, a separate form of energy formed from my understanding of the way of the sword. Every weapon intent feels different. For swords, it feels agile and fast with flexibility at its heart, Giving it that popularity that no other weapon has. The dragoon with his spear jumped towards me. I moved to the side and used a shockwave attack with my sword to hit him. He barely dodged it, so I jumped up to surprise attack him but as soon as I hit his body, my sword vibrated. There must be something with his metal body that induces vibrations that could break my sword. Luckily, I coated my sword with sword intent and it easily sliced through the dragoon.

I looked around for a bit and saw Max netted up and couldn’t escape. I was thinking of going on a rampage to save him but then the dragoon that was cut in half from the waist regenerated and became two dragoons. I could continue my fight with the dragoon, but Max is in trouble. The guards were being pushed around by Max but as soon as they hit the net, Max couldn’t fly properly. He lost his composure. I then came up with a decision and shouted, “As long as we are captured alive, we will surrender.” The dragoon powered down and we got handcuffed. The handcuffs were simple silver cuffs linked together by blue light with some symbols on it. I then tried to search the Library and compile a book on the handcuffs. The search showed me, "Lowest Level Criminal Handcuffs designed by Mortal Rank-9 Engineer Son." According to the compiled book, the handcuffs cut off the mana supply from the world that could enter the body thus, reducing the one cuffed to returning to an ordinary human body much like before the apocalypse. My thought shifted to the name of the designer, "Engineer Son." It sounds like my friend. I hope it's him. We then got placed into a vehicle that looks like a black bar of soap with no windows. And then we flew away.
