Info Dump

Hello peoples.

So, since I already know that a few people might get confused on how the stats are laid out, I'm going to go ahead and explain them, and hopefully clear up any misunderstandings that may have occurred.

So health, is essentially, hit points. It's the amount of damage that one can take after resistances and skills and other defensive "things" (items, barriers, shields, etc. etc.) are used. Granted, if something like a head being chopped off happens, then having a giant health pool will be pointless, as it'd be an instant kill. It's unlikely that there will be an exception to this, aside from something like spirits and ghosts.

Attribute Point cost: 1

Vitality is basically going to be health regen. At the moment I'm thinking of doing it as 1 vitality point = 1 health a minute, although, I may or may not change that in the future depending on how the story goes. Now, for those wondering why it's 1/1 instead of just 1, it's because later on I do plan to have curses or "debuffs" as we know them to be thrown around in battles, so there will be a curse that causes one's vitality to drop.

Attribute Point cost: 3

Endurance. Endurance is going to be the body's basic resistance to all types of damage. And since it includes all types of damage, there probably won't be any crazy high values for it until much, much later in the book. That being said, I'm still deciding on how much each point of endurance will block, and for the foreseeable future, it will also be subject to change like vitality.

Strength should be fairly obvious, but I'll explain it anyways. Strength will affect (Is it affect or effect? I never know. Lol.) Any who, it will affect things like carrying capacity, a partial affect on stamina, how much damage you cause by swinging a sword, fist, or anything physically swung. It will also affect enhancements to an extent.

Attribute Point cost: 2

Speed, another fairly obvious one, but one that shall still be explained. Speed will affect how fast a person can run in any given direction at any given time. Speed will also have a partial affect on stamina.

Attribute Point cost: 2

Agility, this one is not as obvious as the previous two. Agility will affect for the most part, how quickly a limb can be moved, and battle speed. Just because you have a speed of 20 doesn't mean you can use the full 20 points in a fight, right? At least not yet... Agility will also have a very minor influence on stamina.

Attribute Point cost: 2

Dexterity. Dexterity will affect a few things. First and foremost, it's largest affect will be on limbs and bows. Dexterity determines how well you can use your limbs. Your skill if you will. Similar to agility, it determines how much strength you can effectively use at any given time. As far as it's affects on a bow goes, the higher the dexterity, the more you can draw the bow back, which will also increase the power behind the bow, it will also determine accuracy. Dexterity will also have the biggest influence on stamina.

Intelligence. No, it's not how smart you are, sorry. Intelligence is actually a bit odd, if I do say so myself. Intelligence will determine how much damage is done with Mana or Qi. It will also play a big role in cognitive abilities. Be it memorization, comprehension, or other abilities, it will, partially be determined by intelligence. Intelligence also determines the base Mana and Qi stat. Now, that being said, if you have a bad aptitude for magic, you won't have a very high mana number, the same for martial arts.

Attribute Point cost: 5

Wisdom. Wisdom is basically going to be the regen rate for Mana and Qi. At the moment I'm thinking along the lines of 1 point = 1 Mana/Qi per minute, although I might change that so if you have a bad aptitude for one, the regen rate is also affected by that. We'll see what the future holds when we get there. It will also play a massive role in comprehensive and memorization abilities. It is in a way, how smart you are, or rather, can be. That being said, reading a bunch of books won't cause the attribute to rise.

Attribute Point cost: 10.

Mana and Qi. Honestly, if you don't already know what these are, I really can't be bothered to go into an in-depth explanation. The simple version though: it's energy that a person can control. Mana is more external and Qi is more internal.

Now for the fun stuff.

Skills, the abilities anyone can acquire. You know, swordplay, writing, enchanting. The basic stuff that you can find literally anywhere in a fantasy novel/book/show/movie.

Perks, these are slightly more special. They aren't specific to a class like how summoning a zombie is something a necromancer usually does. Perks are more like the middle ground between specialties and enhancements. They can be learned by anyone but require a bit of "talent" if you will.

Specialties. These are skills that are class-specific for people who use mostly Mana. They could be something like a spellsword's ability to enhance/imbue their weapon with magic, or a necromancer summoning a skeleton.

Enhancements. These are skills that are class-specific for people who use mostly Qi. So you won't have a necromancer's skill for summoning an undead over here. These could be things like a cultivation technique or martial art.

Equipment. It's swords, staffs, bows, armors and accessories among other things. I honestly can't be bothered to try and explain it more than that, since that should be self explanatory, and I don't want to accidentally spoil something.

Aside from all these, let me know if there's something else I need to explain.

Have fun reading guys and gals. And if its not too much of a hassle for you drop a vote for me or to help the book out since that would be awesome!
