Lilians Fairytale

It's the kind of night Lily read about in stories as a small child. She could feel the warmness of the day submissively give way to the cold curtains of the night. She really wanted to keep her mind off of everything, and as the breeze picked up and swirled the leaves around her she didn't seem to have trouble doing so. All of her senses were entrigued as she slowly crunched her way through the leafy floor of the forest. She tried to catch the leaves that swooshed by her face, some getting stuck in her long hair. She smirked at the quiet noise the forest makes on a cool, windy autumn evening. It wasn't long though before she began to clench her shawl as the world around her faded and fear crept in, tugging at her heart and pulling her mind back to what she was walking away from. She tried to take a deep breath in and out without slowing her steady pace. "It's only a few more miles to the village," she said aloud, reminding herself. She felt like she was going to explode! The twinkle in her eyes mixed with the fear in her heart were contradicting each other. "Focus Lily!" She somewhat scolded herself bringing her thoughts back to what awaits her.

She passed through the forest rather quickly as the sun was completely out of sight by now, certainly the reason for her speed. Lily stayed on the pathway through some pastures and fields and finally saw the dim lights of the village. She could feel her heart flutter and her breath disappear as she slowed down her pace, taking in every God given thing surrounding her. She inhaled the scent of damp fallen leaves, and the withering greenery. Lily wasn't certain of much at this point but she was certain she may never feel this free again. She felt uncannily connected to nature. It's as if autumns purpose... the transition from life to death before living again was exactly the season of her own life. "I'm a damn tree," she chuckled to herself trying to lighten her own thoughts up. She hated how deep she went sometimes, when a simple thought would come into her head, she'd get lost in the translation of it. She was so wrapped up in her obsession of her beautiful surroundings that she didn't even realize she was walking on the brick road now.

She was here, and she wasn't ready. She nervously scanned the few buildings that were in view. There were some people out running late errands or getting some fresh air she assumed. She really didn't know what these people were doing, this is the first time she has ever been to the village. She saw the library and her eyes could have lit up the whole street. But that fire was quickly put out when she felt a heavy on her quaint shoulder. "Lilian?" She turned around to see a rough middle aged man sloppily staring her down.
