71. Lost in each other's eyes

Liam was looking around the dark room for the games while sneaking glances at Lara. He had decided to join Lara for two main reasons.

Firstly, he wanted to spend some time alone with her. He couldn't openly look at her when the others were around and since it was only the two of them, he could look at her with no one disturbing him.

Secondly, he wanted to make sure that she wouldn't hurt herself by accident while looking around in the dark basement. After all, how could he stand seeing his baby get hurt. He needed to do everything to prevent it.

While looking at her, he noticed her staring at where she had shone the light listlessly. It looked as if she was drowned in her own thoughts.

It was the first time he had ever seen her look so lost. He had always seen the attentive and steadfast Lara and so, this side of her was something new to him.

But he didn't know that he was the reason she looked so lost…

He stopped walking and was looking at her when he saw her walking aimlessly. She was just walking randomly and didn't see that she was going to fall.

He was about to warn her when he saw her walk near the box carelessly, but was too late as she had already tripped over the box.

He immediately dropped his phone and caught her before she fell down. His right hand was tightly wrapped around her small waist, while his left hand held back a cardboard carton that was about to fall on her head.

With a quick shove, he pushed the carton back into its place without leaving Lara's waist.

When he looked at her face, he noticed that she had small frown while her eyes were closed, as if she was waiting for her body to hit the floor.

After a few seconds, he saw her slowly open her eyes and scan her surroundings. First her eyes searched the floor, before looking up at him.

Her bright blue eyes were staring at his black ones intently. Just as usual, he was lost in her eyes that were like a deep intoxicating ocean to him.

He felt his heart rate go up just by staring at her eyes and her face. She was the first and the only woman who could ever make him feel this way.

The light shone from the phone's flashlight was highlighting her face in the perfect angles. It made her eye lashes, that were already long, look longer. Every time she blinked her eyes, he felt like he was getting drawn closer to her as if she had cast a spell on him.

Her naturally pink lips were slightly parted in shock. A few strands of her long hair were on her face, obstructing his clear view of her face.

He slowly reached his hand out to her face and delicately tucked the strands of her hair behind her ear. Then a small smile formed on his lips.

While at the same time, Lara was lost in a guy's eyes for the first time. She was just staring at his black eyes and handsome face, that was subtly highlighted by her phone that was on the ground.

His black eyes were staring at her face, with a hint of worry in them… His slightly long black hair was falling over his forehead.

She saw him frown a bit, before he brought his hand towards her face and removed the strands of hair from her face. Her breath was caught in her throat when his fingers grazed her face.

She felt butterflies in her stomach for the first time. A slight red tint formed on her cheeks. Liam was the first man who ever made her feel these emotions that she never knew that it existed within her until now.

Both of them could feel each other's heartbeat due to the immensely close contact. This was the first time in their lives that either of them were so close to their opposite sex.

With their faces just inches apart and their eyes staring into each other's soul, neither of them could move or make a noise. They were just frozen in the same position.

It was as if they were sucked into their own world. A world that was quiet, peaceful, tranquil….. A place where the most vulnerable part of their souls were comforted by each other.

Both of them felt the desire to never leave that place… The place that offered them the comfort that they badly yearned for, but always suppressed it in front of the rest of the world… The place where their vulnerable souls found solace…

"Are you both okay??", a very worried voice asked from the top of the stairs.
