The contract

"Who is it?" asked Vale anticipating.

"He is." Said Leo pointing at Adam before Adam could say anything.

"He is?" Asked the manager and Valerie together. While Adam raised a brow at Leo, he just smiled, shaking his head.

"Oh! So you are the boss." She said dejectedly.

"Hey what's with that face?" He said enquiring

"Nothing, I think I have to find a job somewhere else now." She said while walking away.

"Wait a minute pretty lady. By the look of your dress and the way you were spending in the mall that day, it doesn't look like you are in urgent need of a job. Then why are you so desperate for one?" He was sure she was too rich to be a waitress.

"Why should I tell you?" She said arrogantly folding her hands around her chest. "It's not like you would give me a job after knowing the reason."

"He would." Said Leo mischievously.

"Yes, yes I would. You know I am curious." He said understanding the meaning behind Leo's actions.

"Oh! Then it is like this, My family lives in the neighbouring country. My father has a big business to run but he wants me and my brother to prove that we are worthy of it.

So, we are asked to at least work for three months as a worker and reach the top. The one who will remain persistent will show his worth.

And my brother has already got the job. So I also need to found one otherwise I will be grounded." She said with a sad face faking tears. Thank God she has come prepared to convince the manager. Looks like the efforts didn't go waste.

"But why is this place only?" Asked Adam again.

"Well, I have already quit three jobs around this area. And it will be too far from my house if I go to other areas. And I am new to this city." She said fidgeting looking more pitiful

" Well then, I can offer you a job." Said Adam.

"I think you are forgetting about your company policy Adam," said Leo, giving him a look.

"Oh, right the policy! The policy states that..." He said looking at Leo typing on his phone. Don't know how to continue but his phone rang at that time. He took it out and checked the new message.

"It states that you have to sign at least a three-month contract. And you can't leave the job before that otherwise legal actions would be taken."

"Oh sure, I can do that. So did I get the job? I mean an interview or any detailed discussion is not needed? I mean." She asked not so sure.

For all other jobs she has given an interview and even needed a bit of convincing. But here she got a job just like that.

"No, it's ok, but if you insist, why don't you cook something for us?" Asked Adam

"Oh, it's Valerie, Mr Adam. Sure."

"Good, so miss Valerie, you can start the job then. I will send my secretary to ready your contract." Said Adam shaking her hand.

"Didn't we just eat?" Asked Adam once Valerie went to the kitchen. Just when he was about to send the girl he received a message asking him to keep her busy by cooking till the contract gets ready.

"Do you trust in her story? It can be true but I still feel something is fishy." Asked Leo to take Adam back to his private room.

"You mean she has ulterior motives towards you?" Adam was alarmed. He is not ready for more incidents right now.

"Hello, Mrs Delilah, yes I wanted to ask you to mail me the contract of secretary from the HR dept. Yes, I have found your replacement. And yes meet me tomorrow at my mother's restaurant with all the work details. yes, thank you."

"No. I mean I am sure she didn't know I am the owner of this place. She has checked my properties before coming here that's why she was sure I am not the owner of this place. Since it's still in my mother's name. But her story is not that convincing.

Let's see what's in the future. Since she is so against working for me. She only can work for me" he said with a mischievous smirk.

'The devil is finally coming back. God bless her soul' prayed Adam in his heart. But he was actually happy to see his friend smiling again. "so .."

"Lunch is ready sir," said Valerie while Rolling a trolley in the room. "I have made bangers and mash, beef curry and shepherd's pie."

"Wow, you are fast, miss Valerie. The contract is also ready. Lucas, print it in two copies and ask miss Valerie to sign it after reading."

"Okay, sir." Replied Lucas who came with Valerie.

"Thank you." Valerie squealed excitedly. Hmph, now I will show Victor.

After half an hour.

"Wow, I must say she is a good chef, too bad you are appointing her as your secretary." Said Adam finishing the whole food. "It has a very different taste."

"Didn't you just say you had lunch?" Asked Leo looking at the empty plates. He just took two bites and the whole food vanished just like that. He didn't even taste the pie. damn it!

"Sir, the contract says I will work as the secretary but I wanted to be the waitress here or maybe receptionist" she said confused. Didn't the secretary need to be experienced and educated?

They asked her to cook for an interview and now this. Senseless! 'Looks like the owner is a rich brat who knows nothing.' she thought and shook her head in pity.

Leo narrowed his eyes. He knew this look. He has seen it a lot in his childhood when children thought that he was a fool. They look at him in disgust and pity.

"En, miss Edmonds I am only in shortage of secretary. But don't worry the work is not much as I have one more secretary and an assistant. And you will work here also. The salary is better and the office will also provide you with lodgings." He said professionally like he didn't see her expressions.
