In the office
A shadow guard appeared, just when he was about to go out. "She didn't use any magic the whole day. But your keeper is right Leo, you should stay cautious."
"Aren't I using you to keep an eye on her?" He asked, folding his hands near his chest and raising a brow. "You are worried because you find nothing suspicious, Right?"
The shadow guard stood more erect, and after a moment of hesitation he admitted. "Yes, the one, who are too clean are always the dirty one. I spent the whole day, searching about her origins but I found nothing, she is not in any database. And you know what it means."
"I know, I have heard about it since the day I met you all, but that doesn't mean that every person is a threat Noah." He didn't know what this feeling was about, he had always been wary of strangers. Especially the one with powers, but Valerie didn't seem like a threat. Or should he say, he was not ready to believe that she was a threat. The way she glared at him, ignored him, cursed him and even when she was speaking nicely in the morning, her face gave her true feelings away. He was sure she was ready to pounce on him to beat him up. Either she was really a genuine person or she was a damn good actor and director to plan all this incident and acutely play them. He came out of his reverie listening to the shadow guard's voice.
"Why not contact Kayasone?" He asked after keeping the words in his mouth for a long time. Hesitation was not allowed but at the same time, he couldn't go against his orders.
"No, I will handle it. You think she is after my life, right? Then why not give her what she wants." he said nonchalantly but it brought goosebumps on the shadow guard face. He knew very well the more nonchalant and calm Leo was, the more torturous would be the death of his enemy. After all he was a cold blooded demon. Otherwise people won't call him IFRIT in their cult. Suddenly he felt pity on that girl.
"Keep an eye on her, but don't get too close. She is carefree but not an idiot and she has her family with powers around. We don't even know what other power they have except roasting flowers." he said last line while looking at the vase, a subtle smile on his face which came and went in a blink that even Noah failed to notice. Noah just bowed his head, and in the next second he was all alone in the room.
He went to his seat, and opened the last locked drawer. There it was, his mother's photograph and a letter. A letter he was dying to read, but couldn't. It was clearly written on it ..
"My dear son, this is the letter I wrote a long time ago but if it's with you that means I am gone before completing my tasks. I hope you will live well. I want you to know that I love you. And this letter is the deepest secret, I kept hidden from you, which I really don't want to share. So, please don't open it, unless it's a matter of life or death. Unless it's a matter of your trust over me. Because if you opened it. It means you didn't trust me anymore. I hope you never get the chance to read this letter.
Love your mother."
How was he supposed to open this, when his love and faith for his mother was at stake but at the same time this secret was making him crazy.
WHAT IS YOUR SECRET MOTHER!!!!
He took a deep breath and put the letter back to its place and called Adam. "Why don't we plan some outdoor activities for our staff?" He said with a devilish smile on his face.
"En, didn't the morning was already full of activity for you." Asked Adam surprised by the sudden suggestions. He even stopped typing the report his brother had asked him to make.
"You are keeping an eye on me." growled Leo. Although he knew this was for his own safety, he still didn't like to be watched every moment.
"I am your keeper Leo. Or should I call you with your original identity." He asked in a grave and strict voice, all the playfulness gone out, and his aura completely changed.
"I thought you were my friend, before being my keeper." Said Leo in a neutral voice but sadness could be felt or a pinch of disappointment. There was only one person left with him and he was also busy playing keeper keeper! He didn't need a formal ally, Damn it. He needed a Friend.
"Leo" Adam said nothing but just took his name. But there were many emotions behind this word only. Care, affection, fear, sadness, and a lot of pain.
"Don't worry I got it. Since you want to be my keeper, then so shall be. I order you to do my bidding and organise a trekking activity for all the staff in the border of Serul forest. No question asked." he immediately disconnected the call after instructing him. "It's time to grant your last chance to you, Miss Edmonds."
While Adam just gritted his teeth, and slammed a punch on the table. He knew he had done a big blunder this time. He was afraid of the unknown, and tried to use his position, as authority to do Leo his bidding, because he was sure Leo would never use his. As he did it only once when he forced him to do something. But now he used his powers. That means he has been frustrated by his actions. All the hairs of his body stood up thinking about the consequences. His fingers were dripping with blood because of the broken glass of the table while his laptop fell down and smashed it's screen but he didn't hear or felt a single thing. This pain was far less than the emotionless order of Leo.
