Clearing the misunderstandings

"Since you want to go, you can. But then don't complain later that I did not give you a chance to meet your wife before you left the realm." teased his mother and he bit his lip.

"Mother, what are you talking about? When had I complained to you." he feigned ignorance and his mother laughed.

"No," she nodded her head, "then the maids must be dreaming, they told me that they had seen you spend the night holding her picture." she replied in a grave voice. Victor glared at his mother as he stole a glance at Cynthia who was biting her lips to stifle a laugh. Her ears were turned red and her eyes were casted down.

"Since, that's the case then you can go now. I had to talk about a lot of things from my daughter in law." with that she held, Cynthia's hand and signalled Victor to leave the room.
