Chapter 35

Smoker thrusted his weapon towards Hakai, but he easily dodged it with his observation haki.

Hakai swung his sword back, this time coating the blade with haki so he could attack and damage Smoker's body that was made out of smoke.

"I told you already. That's no-"

Smoker saw Hakai's blade which was coated in haki last second, realizing that Hakai knew about and how to use haki.

Smoker didn't know how to use haki, but he did have some knowledge of it. He knew that haki, and seastone were the only reliable way of fighting against logia devil fruits unless they had a weakness that could be easily exploited.

He did his best to dodge Hakai's attack, but since he reacted a bit too late, he couldn't dodge the attack, but he did manage to lower the damage whereas before if the attack landed normally, he would've been cut in half.

On Smoker's side was a large cut, surprising Tashigi, and the marines that were watching because as far as they knew, logia fruits were rare devil fruits that made the user invincible from any damage.

"C-Captain Smoker! Are you ok?" Tashigi asked. This was the first time that she had ever seen Smoker be injured.

"I won't die. For now, Tashigi, go help the other marines. Leave him to me,"

"White Blow." Smoker transformed his arm into smoke except his fist as he sent it towards Hakai's face. With his other arm, he generated a cloud of dense smoke, sending it to Hakai, attempting to trap him in the dense smoke.

Hakai dodged Smoker's fist, but had to keep moving as to not get captured by the dense smoke that was heading for him.

Flipping backwards, Hakai sent a sword slash towards Smoker as a wave of compressed air came towards him.

Unlike the last time, Smoker was more prepared as he dodged the attack, continuing to chase Hakai with a cloud of smoke that looked like a snake.

"Tsk, I hate this smoke." Hakai stopped moving and stood in place, taking a deep breath as he filled his lungs with air. He blowed out the air in his lungs, sending the smoke that Smoker made back.

Just like that with simply breathing out air with great force, he stopped Smoker's attack, shocking the residents of Loguetown that were watching the fight happen.

Hakai and Smoker weren't the only people fighting as the marine soldiers in the port of the city fought Hakai's crew of 3 people.

Makino, ruling the skies, had dozens of bodies around her as she incorporated air into her attacks. Using air, she would propel her attacks, making them faster and therefore making them stronger, and more destructive.

Kaya was the opposite of Makino. She didn't have any bodies surrounding her, but that was mostly because all the bodies that were surrounding her turned into zombies for her to control.

Nojiko was a bit different. Unlike Makino or Kaya, she stayed on the ship with her bow and worked on dealing with the marine gunners and snipers.

"Stop this you evil pirates!" Tashigi said, drawing her sword as she came face to face with Makino.

"Or what? What're you going to do if I don't stop?" Makino replied.

Reporters of newspapers were watching the whole battle, eager to get a new story for their news agency. Many were taking pictures and many were already calling this a loss for the Marines.

"Smoker, I only came here to resupply and look around. Who wouldn't want to see that place that Roger was executed? So why don't you let us pass? It'll result in less casualties for your troops," Hakai said, casually deflecting Smoker's attack and responding by cutting him on the cheek.

Smoker wiped the blood that was on his cheek as he replaced his cigars with new ones. "No. Ever since I've been here, I've captured every pirate that has arrived on this island."

"Maybe it's time to realize that you won't catch every pirate." Hakai swung his sword at him.

Smoker narrowly dodged the attack, resulting in another slash, this time on his arm.

The reporters took many pictures of Smoker in his bloodied state. They already had the caption in their head: 'Marines in Loguetown defeated by only 4 people.', 'Dragon King, Hakai strikes again!', 'New member joins the Dragon Pirates!'

Hakai wasn't planning on killing Smoker because of a very important reason. He was just planning on beating him up and teaching him whose boss. Although if he was nice and actually let them pass then he wouldn't cause any more trouble, but he knew that would never happen.

So he would beat him up, but not kill him because of one person, Hina. Hakai was planning to take Hina for his crew, but Smoker being one of her good friends, she obviously wouldn't think good of him if he killed her friend, so that was a no no. Beating him up was ok though. It could be called a self defense since Smoker did attack first.

Sending Smoker flying back with another slash to the chest, Smoker dropped his seastone tipped weapon on the ground.

Hakai's grabbed the weapon, instantly gaining the knowledge of how to use it and how to most effectively use it in combat.

Approaching Smoker, Hakai pressed the seastone covered tip on Smoker's head, greatly weakening him and disabling his devil fruit powers.

"Is this a good pose? They're taking pictures of us." Hakai made himself laugh as he tried posing in a cool way. "Ahh I can't. That was too cringy, but it's true. They're taking pictures."

"Get off me!" Smoker yelled out, but being weakened by the seastone, talking was hard for him.

"Alright, but first. Time to go to sleep." Hakai thrusted the tip of the weapon at Smoker's head, rattling his brain and making him pass out.
