Chapter 4

He didn't know what to think, his mind had no answer to this, the blade he held didn't disappear but the skeleton did. He picked up a purple ominous crystal and felt a small headache form in his head, it gradually became worse. He opened his Power Recorder:

The 'Knowledge of the Ancients' skill leveled up and it came with many abilities. He read over his stats again and again, just what was this Forgotten Magic, and Magi Knowledge. A splitting headache appeared once again stabbing his head. 'Requirements not met, please unlock Magi knowledge to know more.'

The words echoed through his head, he lumbered back to the forest in pain and rested on a tree. It felt like something lingering in his head was about to explode. He wanted it to stop, he rushingly put all his points into int, and suddenly the pain went away, it was as if the knowledge he got from leveling was so potent and abundant that his brain started to collapse.

'Unlocked Magi knowledge lvl 1, (20/26) Requires not met for next level' This 'magi knowledge' skill helped him with the pain as it slowly resided. He got up from the tree he was rested on and retrieved his items, as he did, he felt a mysterious presence all around him at all times.

This feeling tickled his neck and his body, and as he got further away from the cave its presence became timider. He left the cave's area to recover and compose himself and also to investigate these new skills.

He got a nice distance between himself and the cave and began resting and checking his stats. He now had 20 int, and these forgotten magic abilities have some text to read, however, they only showed the requirements they needed, requirements that were far off from his current position. He moved on to Magi Knowledge which was increased to lvl 1, he believed it helped him cope with the pain from leveling up and unlocked a sort of, sixth sense, that now felt a mysterious presence all around him.

He didn't know what it was but he vaguely remembered it being called mana. Seeing all these abilities having to do with magic he decided to focus most of his new stat points into int and wis as he was curious as to what secrets they held.

Itennu climbed the tree he was laying on and scouted all around him. Like he thought he saw nothing but luscious green trees, and the sound of blowing wind. However, he saw something in the distance he immediately picked up.

Although it was in the distance he knew it was a mountain, a large one at that, dwarfing the small trees below it and almost reaching the clouds. If he could get on top of that mountain he could see as far as the eye was able to and hopefully find something. His excitement was cut as he heard a far off inhuman screech that kind that sends chills down the spine. He looked at the direction of where it came from and saw nothing but trees.

This didn't sound like anything he has encountered so far and he was curious as to what it was. Itennu dropped down from the highest branch and began jumping from tree to tree. Whatever it was, he would stay up high, so he could have the advantage of the high ground. He heard it again this time much closer it seemed it was coming towards his direction, the thought made Itennu stop his movement among the trees and focus all his energy into concealing his presence keeping his heartbeat steady and his breathing slowed.

He peeked from behind the tree as to where he thought it would come from. All his instincts told him it would come from there whatever it was. He heard the screech ounce more and saw a large creature thrash through. The creature was like nothing he had ever seen before.

It looked to be armored with large rusty-brown plates with the texture of rocks covering its underlying skin which also appeared to be armored. The creature had two large mandibles each very sharp and crooked enough to act as hooks, it also walked on all eight of its legs. The creature moved fast and seemed to be seeping a green liquid from its body.

The area from which the green liquid was coming from was under the large plates of the creature and Itennu could only guess that it was probably wounded. The creature didn't notice Itennu as it quickly moved across the forest floor. The creature was at least two meters long, and at least a meter wide, and seemed to be in distress.

Itennu froze for a second as he felt another presence approaching very quickly. A booming screech resonated throughout the forest, it was close by, Itennu looked back to where he saw the armored creature came from.

A larger creature easily measuring at least eight meters long and three meters wide burst into the fray. This creature had green scales and much like the armored creature had large plates covering its head, back, and legs. The creature hissed and Itennu saw a large forked tongue lash out wickedly as it quickly covered ground catching up to the armored creature. Itennu saw a sight to behold, as large yellow teeth bit down on the armored creature.

The armored creature let out a terrifying screech as it thrashed inside the scaled one's mouth. The scaled creature quickly ran up to tree and started swinging the armored creature against it. Each time the armored creature was smashed against the tree the unearlthy sound of bones crunching reverberated throughout the forest. The armored creature grew weak with ever hit, the bark of the tree becoming drenched with a green liquid. Bits of the armored creature flew off as a large crunch was heard as the scaled creature bit down harder on its meal. The armored creature let out a weak cry but another large crunch cut it short. Its legs stopped moving as the scaled creature visibly started to chew its meal.

Itennu never saw animals like this before as his mind didn't immediately conjure up a name as it did with previous creatures he had seen, he could also tell the scaled creature had some intelligence, bashing its prey against the bark to weaken it and delivering a killing blow in the span of seconds. He could also tell from the massive dents on the tree, bits, and green blood that the scaled creature possessed large amounts of strength, and was a creature he should avoid.

The scaled creature scurried back from where it came, prey still in its mouth. It appears that Itennu isn't the top predator in this forest. He sighed, climbing up on the trees once more, he looked at the mountain once again more keenly this time.

He spotted creatures flying around the mountain in the distance and knew at once they were creatures he shouldn't encounter. At this range their details were indiscernible but he knew they were large, very large, and that was enough for Itennu to not make immediate preparations to the mountain.

He needed to get stronger if creatures like these were in the forest, he headed back from whence he came. As he saw the Erie cave again he contemplated going in. The skeleton so far gave him the most exp out of any creature and seemed easy to sneak up on, but the unknown presence lurking inside the cave, piercing his senses and screaming at his brain said otherwise. In his mind he had two choices, get out of the forest by the time he's old hunting rabbits and boars, or take a rise and get stronger and force his way out of here.

He chose the latter.
