Everyone's wolves were antsy all day at school you can practically see everyone's need, their desire. Even my beast was stirring barely giving me control as she whined and snapped.
The teachers can hardly teach because their mates constantly drilling into their heads even my strict teacher Mrs. Morrison was giggling and smiling with her eyes glazed over with whatever hunger filled drive they were telling her.
It was really annoying considering I actually wanted to learn something today to keep my mind off my pacing vixen who probably was leaving tread marks in my brain. I turned my head and looked at the puff of sandy brown hair. My best friend, Donna had her head down on her desk her soft coils of hair resting on her arms.
When I looked closer at her she was shaking as she was trying not to laugh at our normally evil teacher giggling and shifting left and right. Her attempts to teach our calculus class was literally futile as her words were slurring together. It was honestly a show but the show inside her mind was probably xxx rated.
Looking back at Mrs. Morrison she was at least 5'0 pretty short for a strict teacher everyone stood over her including me at 5'2. Y'know what they say about short people, ' The shorter they are the closer they are to.....hell?'.... something like that? other than that she was pretty normal blond hair blue eyes with a few freckles here and there.
If you talked to her outside of class she's pretty cool, I've talked to her a couple of times after school and she lets me call her Tangie outside of the school day sometimes. She's honestly a very sweet lady.
She was putting on a show for her students but not a lot of students noticed because they were all glassy-eyed too. Everyone was speaking to their mates 'I've had enough of this let's get out of here, no one is paying attention anyway! I nodded in agreement with my beast as I pulled my chair out and walked out of the classroom.
The wind was slow but the air was crisp almost like how it feels to chew five gum.. without all the extra crazy stuff going on. The colorful bright yellow and orange leaves tumbled against the pavement as I crushed a few under my boots making a satisfying crunching sound every other step. Today felt AMAZING! The need for a run was all I could think about as I hurried into the nearby forest to my college.
Normally during a special day like today, we are not permitted to shift until the Orangemoon run which begins at like..10:30 or is it earlier... but hey! No ones around I could just shift for a little while with no trouble! I started to rush out of my clothes so I didn't tear them up and shoved them underneath the nearest bush. Donna usually says I should do that because someone will steal my clothes. It's either this or tying them to my foot and there's no way I'm dropping a pair of panties in front of a group of unmated males...again.
I let my beast take control, everyone in the pack are wolves of course but I'm the only fox shifter in the pack, well fox/wolf? My mom was a fox and my dad was a wolf. It's a pretty rare combination due to certain laws but it just makes me special. Red fur began to cover my bare body as my bones began to shift and crack making me gasping a little the feeling.
When I finally finished my sailor moon transformation I let my white booted paws press against the ground with a huff as I let my beast take over. My fox was beautiful she was bigger than your average fox but still smaller than a wolf. Her fur was covered in a thick bright orange fur with white on her belly, chin, and snout. Her tongue dangled out of her mouth as she pranced around and making her weird, excited gittering until she slowed down to a stop at a small stream. She had padded around in the water all the way to a small pond. Her once beautiful white paws that she pampered so dearly were now brown with dirt and mud.
The area seemed to be quiet with no one around just a few birds making their sweet songs to the forest, while she pulled to a stop and stretched. I honestly couldn't remember the last time I shifted I really hadn't had the time to really relax in this form it felt a lot better than being in a human form. She curled up and nuzzled into her tail softly her ears flattened to her skull and her red eyes slowly shut as she slept.

" Mommy! Can you tell me a story"
A little girl looked up to her mother who was sitting in a sad chair in a corner while she cross-stitched a fox face to a blanket quietly. When the little girl spoke she stopped and paused for a second placing the blanket on the ground and picking up her daughter with a gentle smile. The woman leaned back in her chair with a sigh as she held her daughter close playing with her long brown hair and beautiful Amber eyes. "You want to hear a story?"
Her daughter looked up at her and nodded her bright Amber eyes matching hers.
The mother thought for a second then leaned back in her chair. "Have I told you the story about the legendary golden wolf"
The daughter shook her head leaning against her mother.
The little girl's mother gazed at the wall to what seemed to be a windowless room. Her amber eyes looked tired with dark bags from lack of sleep but her hair was a beautiful pitch black with a few knots here and there. Her voice was like an echoed whisper but it was so gentle and kind as she spoke.
"In a distant land but not too far away, there was a pack called the Albinowinds. The Albinowinds was a pack of pure white wolves with the most beautiful of furs in all the land. Some say it was due to their pack being on the highest mountain peak closest to the moon but others say its because they were blessed by the goddess of the moon, Selene.
" What about the golden wolf?"
The girl's mother placed her finger over her lips softly as she continued
"Within the pack, there was a strong alpha and his family. The whole family was respected in the pack and many outside of it, but they had a son, a very smart boy with the strength of many and the wits of a general.
The alpha and his mate loved his son dearly and pushed for the son to be best, better than anyone else's. The boy's first shift was planned to arrive with a grand party for all the packs to come together and see how his son would be when he finally was united with his beast. The father trained his son to his limits for not a care for how young the poor boy was, or how tired he became.
Many wolves came to the boy's party to see his first shift and to see how amazing the alphas son and his beast was. When it came time for him to shift he couldn't do it as much and as hard as he tried which angered his father. He was embarrassed and told the boy he had shamed his family and pack.
Days passed. Weeks. Months! But the boy was unable to shift and the father worked the boy almost to death, almost to train the wolf out of him. The father was furious with his son and abandoned him banishing him from the mountains.
"But mommy what happened to the boy?"
No one had heard from him until the shift of the alpha's next sons first shift-"
The mother was interrupted by the sound of a slamming door and footsteps.
"You not going to abandon me if I don't shift on time , right mommy?" , The mother shook her head. "I would never Naomi, I love you."
My eyes opened blinking a few times, I haven't dreamt of my mother in a long while. I looked up at the sky to see different shades of pink and orange. I stood up and stretched my front paws far ahead of me with a giant yawn, my muzzle gaping open showing my canines before rising and shaking myself.
Not a lot of people would be out now due to the occasion but I had to be careful to get to my clothes without being seen, my ears twitched left and right as I snuck through the woods, my head lowered to the ground as I retraced my every step towards my clothes till I finally found them.
Taking a sigh of relief the casual sound of my bones crunching and the hair shedding from my body filled the air till I was like a freshly plucked chicken. I quickly put on my clothes hardly giving the autumn air a chance to touch my sensitive skin. Just as I finished, a hand rested on my shoulder my body slightly stiffening before I recognized the scent of maple.
I let out a sigh of relief and spun looking dead into my childhood friend and head of pack officers, Jeremy.
I held out my arms in front of me and sighed, " alright Jere cuff me"
He shook his head smiling, "You're not supposed to be out here, Vixen"
I rolled my eyes and sighed. I'm heading back home now so you don't have to worry"
"let me guess. Your professor was too busy having sex with her mate in her head?"
I giggled a little and shrugged, "something like that, or no the whole class was like that."
"Come on you trouble maker, time to join the others" he joked while placing his arm over my shoulder while we walked toward the plaza where people were decorating.
Everyone was outside decorating and setting up for the run and many useless mates sucking faces and girls pulling guys toward dark corners and secret places. Someone needs to keep me from gagging because I've had enough with mates for the moment. "Your mate will come soon y'know little fox"
"Yeah...don't keep my hopes up, Jere. I've given up on him anyway"
He looked at me and his face twisted slightly," how can you say that Naomi?"
I looked up at the sky, stars starting to appear one by one in the sky. "I've wished on every one of these stars and he hasn't come for me. I've been waiting since I was 16, I'm 22 now. He's not coming. Or she,"
We both laughed a little before stopping abruptly to the sound of a long howl from the distance and the alpha mind linked everyone to shift in his alpha tone. I watched as everyone's wolves had shifted in all fur colors from white, tan, black, red, and multicolored. I used to envy the connection everyone had. How everyone was a wolf and I was the only fox in the pack. I grew out of it though. The need to be the same subsided as my mother's voice rang into my head "be the sore thumb...no one is meant to be the same my little flame"
Clothes were shredded and left on the ground as wolves burst into runs. I watched everyone go wolves nipping and biting at each other's ears or paws going off into the distance. The orange moon run was a dumb tradition. I looked up at the huge moon in the sky.
" Your the same moon but a different color, I don't have to do anything for you"I stood in the middle of the empty field with clothes ripped to the ground...still in my human form...alone.
I could hear the wolves in the distance but I decided to go to the celebration table and grabbed a large blue bottle of vodka called, "The Howl of Bane" it was the type of drink to get a wolf drunk but for a fox, it was a huge buzz.
I smirked and grabbed one before walking home. Time for some peace.
