Ghost Town 3

She was back into the battlefield.

Standing on an open ground where humans with armor and spear were fighting intensely with each other, cries and groans of pain passed through her. Countless corpse, some still twitching in the last thread of breath could be found as many as ants. There was a burnt smell of flesh and ashes were blowing on the air. The sky was a depressing grey.

She wasn't exactly foreign with this scene. It was the dream which she had just experienced some time ago. The dream where she first felt the kind of pain that coursed through her body, the despair, grief and hatred that almost blinded her soul.

Why was she there?

Her gaze was blank as everything around her was a blurry image.

She didn't want to recall this anymore. That kind of sadness and pain, she didn't want to experience it anymore.

Alas, she couldn't control her own body. She could feel her hatred pounded her veins as she wanted nothing more than destroy everything that had taken him away from her. She roared in grief, the sound was ear piercing and it took all the soldier's attention.

They were struck with fear and terror at the sight of her.

She didn't know why but the smell of fear in those humans body was so satisfying. She laughed, loudly and wildly, but she could feel the saltiness of tears on her tongue.

Destroy! Destroy everything!

She wreaked havoc as if the shackles around her were unlocked at that moment. The humans ran away desperately, and she let them. She let them feast on the short freedom she granted them before she took their life with despair and hopelessness reflected within their eyes. She played with them like the predator she was just like how they played with her fate.

The more blood in her hands, the more corpses beneath her feet, the more she couldn't quench the thirst of blood inside her.

The ground shook, and heaven and earth seemed to shift to feel her grief and sorrow. After she had killed all of them, she stood in daze, her mind drew blank. Something propelled her to turn around. And there he was. The man in her dreams. She felt all her energy left her body and the only thing she could see was him.

He laid there peacefully. If not for his bloodied state, she could almost fool herself to think that he was merely asleep. In the next morning, she could still see his eyes open, those dark obsidian pupils that shone like gem, so precious and dear. The gentleness and smile in them only reserved for her.

But no, he wouldn't open his eyes anymore.

Her knees buckled as she took him in her embrace. He felt warm, just like how she remembered him to be. But the fingertips on her palms were ice cold. She brought them to her lips and kissed his knuckles one by one, tears dropping on his pale skin as soft drizzle started to pour down on them.

"Hey," she muttered. "I'm here."

She brushed the strand of hair away from his face. The familiar contour only added to the suffocating feeling choking her throat. Her senses were numb as she felt the world, her world, slowly crumbled into pieces. Her voice turned hoarse. "Why didn't you wait for me? You fool." She sniffled, her broken cries were the only sound on the barren and tragic battlefield.

The memories of their first encounter flashed through her mind.

At that time, she cried too. The difference was, last time, he was silly enough to approach her and wiped her tears away. This time, she could only use pretend to use his finger to wipe her cheeks as if he was still here.

"Wake up." Her shoulder trembled hard as she cradled his head and shook him hard. "Wake up! Wake up! I beg you, don't leave me. Don't leave me alone!"

She didn't know how long she cried on that position.

Day and night didn't seem to differ in her eyes anymore.

After he left her, everything was dark.

She couldn't bear it. She couldn't imagine herself living in a world without him even a second more. And like that time, she drew his sword toward her neck. Her eyes closed, and there were a faint smile on her face. Wait for me, she muttered in her heart.

But then, before she could drive the sword to her neck, something blocked her movement. She couldn't advance an inch no matter how hard she struggled. The darkness around her cracked, letting a ray of light inside.

She squinted her eyes as the sword fell down from her palms. There was a voice on her ear, faint and sounded as if it came from somewhere far. "Hey…don't die!"

The voice sounded clearer as the battlefield drew away from her. "No, no!" Her embrace loosened and the man slowly dissipated into dust. Her eyes bulged out and she clutched her head that was throbbing in pain. "Don't go! Let me go with you!"

"Hey, wake up, silly!" She felt a hard slap on her cheek and instantly her body jolted and she gasped. Her eyes widened in shock at the sensation too real to be considered a dream. Her eyes glazed, and it took her a few seconds to register where she was.

She laid on the ground but the sky on top of her seemed to be blocked by something. It was dark, dry and weird. How could she get here? Using her arms, she pushed herself up but winced when it aggravated the wound on her neck.

"Akh! Don't move first! It's not easy to pull you back, you know!"

She was surprised at the sudden voice that was so close, but there was no one around her. "Who is it?!" Her voice was raspy and weak, and she felt dizzy at the result of getting up too fast.

"I said don't move, you fool! Look now, your wound is opening again!" The voice whined. It sounded childish, the voice especially belonged to a child. She subconsciously touched her neck and grimaced when she felt the warm blood that drenched her skin.

The memories slowly came back to her and she paled.

Ghost qi, the girl without eye, and the bit on her neck…

"You're fine now. At least, for now."

She looked around in panic and fear. "Where are you?!"

"Here!"

No matter how hard she looked, she couldn't find it. "Where?!" It started to feel creepy and she scooted backward only for her back to bump into a wall of soil. She raised her guard vigilantly.

"Down here!"

She lowered her gaze, only to find a…furball?
