CHAPTER 79

I WAS GRATEFUL TO THE SECURITY GUARD, that he dropped me off at my doorstep but his suspicious nature put me off. His voice might have been brimming with enthusiasm but his smile gave me a rather strange feeling.

He stood still at a distance waiting for me to leave. Darn the hotel protocol. I was too scared to get in but if I had to escape this man, I had to.

I looked back at him once more and he smiled. I was hesitant at first but I smiled back and entered my password. The door clicked open and I let out a very deep breath. I pushed it through and turned back to grab my bags.

"Do you need help with ---"

"No I got it thanks...." I replied quickly and pushed my things inside, slamming the door shut and locking it before he would do anything.

It was after dark and anyone was a suspect to me.

I couldn't trust even the walls around me.

The house was dark and to my surprise, I couldn't smell anything awful. I sensed my way in and walked to where the light was, lifted the switch and ohMyGoodness, the entire house was..... different.

I rushed to the kitchen and the bedroom only to find the same thing.

The furniture, sheets, kitchenware, appliances, and everything else had been changed. The entire interior was different. Before I came into this house I requested the colours beige, Champaign and indigo. But now, black , white and grey where the colours. The taps were golden as well as the toilet. The cooking stove, oven and refrigerator where a shade of grey and I couldn't stop gasping each time something surprised me!

The design was different and I felt scared just by looking at it. It was all masculine!

This only meant that.....it was a man that was driving me nuts and asking me to leave Adam!

But, what if it was Adam who had this place repaired for me? No. Adam would never. He knew I was staying with Lauren and this place was still under investigation.

I didn't report to the manager of this building because I knew the one certainly doing this, was someone in the rich community. The security guard sure gave in a good word for the security in this place but, nxy , who wouldn't? Obviously he was covering up for them and the smile on his face told me there was a story their.

If they were as good as he claimed, they wouldn't have missed this scandal.

Either their security was fraudulent or they'd all been bought off.

Yes...of course!

They'd all been bought off just like what Conan said back at MachuPicchu. The CCTV was broken and repairing was delayed preventing the scene I was involved in from being caught on camera.

It was no coincidence. It was a well thought of conspiracy.

This person had eyes everywhere and that could explain why he knew where I would be and when I would be there. He must've had spies all around the city to keep an eye on me just like the security guard. The only witness I found was also brutally murdered in his police cell meaning even the police where involved. There was absolutely no one to trust....

Everyone had been bought off. Every person!

Now I was trapped. I couldn't even leave to another building. That would complicate the case and I wouldn't find any more evidence.

I just have to wait for Aaron to come back and give me the feedback I needed if he caught that thing which I was hoping he did.

I threw myself on the couch and coiled up my body into a pile like a serpent. I was frightened to my soul and I could feel it cold, hovering over my body. I was tired just to the thought following the events that happened today.

Someone sent me dead mice and then the entity at the mall and now the security guard with an eerie smile. What's worst was my house. It looked like someone else's. My life had drastically changed and things were cascading from worst to worst.

I was too scared to sleep and rather kept my eyes open in case anything bad would happen.

I had to be alert.

With the lights on in the living room, I felt exhausted and lazy to pack up my stuff to the bedroom hence I just lay there.

I closed my eyes trying to let my mind wander off in my dreams. Maybe I'd have good ones and I wouldn't have to be sad anymore.

I remembered how harshly I treated Adam at the shop. Abruptly leaving him and accusing him of all this.

I hope he trusts I didn't mean it. I just wanted the blackmailer to think I was doing as he asked so he would lay off of me. Adam was my love and my life. I'd never go away from him come what my.

Sourness and bitterness played mind games and chased each other in my mind.

'What if he doesn't ask me to marry him then?'

'What if he thinks I don't love him anymore?'

'After the wedding be said he wanted some alone time with me...is this how I repay him?'

These three questions disrupted my quiet time and I started thinking of calling Adam.

"No...I will not, if I do...I might ruin the plan...." I whispered to myself and lied back. I steadied my head on the pillow and my eyes landed on something glittering in my purse.

I got up and pulled it forward, to find the Amrit Singh Custom made diamond bangles as per Kelly's words.

I still couldn't understand who this person was and why he was spending so much on me when I didn't even know him. And how did he make sure that the things would actually reach me?

Does that mean he was around me?

Unlike this person who wanted to have me killed because of Adam, someone appreciated my company with him and despite living me, he never made my life a living hell for it.

This man was unique in everyway and I could feel it. I just had to meet him one day.

It would surely bless my life.

On the same note, I picked my phone and dialed Aaron's number who answered on the first ring. Whether he was on duty or not, he always picked my calls and I admired him for that.

"Yes madam ...do you need anything?"

"Eleanor....." I corrected. "And no....uh..maybe Yes...I need information..."

"What is it?"

"Do you remember the salad quest?" I asked twisting my hair on my finger. I didn't want to use the exact words as it was a secret mission. This place was filled with surveillance cameras and spy flies. I just couldn't be sure...

"Sala-- Oh...that...am so sorry....it was a dead end....."
